I was attending a wedding in the North West and stayed at the guesthouse for the weekend. The rooms are clean and decent although there is no tea or coffee offered in the rooms. We had tasty breakfast in the patio with a view of the beautiful garden. The house is situated in a quiet place with a view of the Pilanesberg mountains. A good place to stay if you want to explore the Pilanesberg National Park and for a visit to the Sun City Resort.

Joezebel Guest House is perfect if you're looking for an affordable place to stay outside--but near to--Pilanesberg National Park. It's a seven-minute drive from Joezebel's to Manyane Gate (in the east), and there's a gas station on the way in case you need to fill up before game driving all day. Joys, the owner, is super friendly, and she runs a nice guest house. The room was spotless, comfortable, and equipped with a mini fridge, and the lodge was quiet and secure behind a gate. Breakfast is included but I can't comment on it as we were always up and out the door (headed to P-berg) before breakfast started. Would definitely stay here again if going back to Pilanesberg, and would highly recommend to others who are looking to stay outside the park but maybe in a quieter, less touristy place than, say, Sun City.

Going out for an extraordinary adventure often means stepping out of your comfort zone, but not at Manyane Resort in Pilanesberg, South Africa. A haven within the borders of Pilanesberg National Park, the resort embraces you and your party in a world of essential comforts that serves to highlight the raw beauty of your great escape. For starters, the resort offers a wide variety of lodging, from cottage-like Chalets and Safari Tents each furnished with a refrigerator, plus real beds to Caravan Sites and Campsites with electricity. These are then matched with facilities and services that you won’t usually associate with safari accommodations, such as a swimming pool, restaurant, and superette. With all these on hand, it’s easy to go to one of South Africa’s wildlife safaris and just enjoy its numerous outdoor diversions. After all, when the sun goes down and it’s time to retreat to a relaxing and convenient space, Manyane Resort is here to answer your most crucial needs.
The basic maintenance on the units is not performed, the lounge furniture in our unit had its days as it was uncomfortable. One headboard of one of the beds floor was place in the main bedroom cupboard. The bathrooms are old and requires some refurbishment, tit was not possible to control the water temperature in the bath shower as the mixer was worn out. The restaurant has a very limited menu and all the items on the menu are not always available. In general the lack of maintenance is very visible in this resort. This was not a pleasant stay.

Vicky B Bed and Breakfast's service was excellent. I will definitely book again should I visit that side. My kids were happy and felt at home. Location easy to locate and great advice from Mama Vicky about places to visit. Thank you.

We arrived in the evening and there were no staff to find - nor no warm welcome. The staff member that I did eventually find could speak little to no english. Room 1; We were shown to a very small room - which for R750 a night was not going to fly for me. As the room was musty I turned on the aircon by the plug as there was no remote. It blew warm air only which only made the small room stuffier. The bathroom was just a shower and a toilet with a sliding door dividing it from the bedroom. There was a flat screen TV but only a few channels were tuned. I tested the lights in the bedroom and bathroom but none were working. I then went to find a staff member who showed me the lightbulb for that bathroom and in broken english told me there was a problem with the light to which she said she could give me a lamp. I was not happy and asked for another room. Room 2; Tshidi reluctantly showed me to another room - which was like a 5 star upgrade from the first room. It had working lights. She then told me that the aircon in the new room did not work so she switched on the fan and held her hand to it. She knew the air did not blow from the fan outwards but kept on asking me "okay? okay?". She then added that I mustn't use the kettle as it is not working. The shower hose attachment on the bath was worn and torn and did not work. The lighting fixtures in the bathroom were broken and hanging from the ceiling. There was also a plastic shopping bag filling a hole in the ceiling. Breakfast and food offered; We only ate there on one morning. We had to ask for milk for tea/coffee. There were only cereals on offer. We were offered a warm breakfast of eggs, vienna and chicken livers. We received one egg which was cold with a single vienna (also cold) with a tablespoon of chicken livers (also cold). We couldn't even get toast as they said "there was a problem with the toaster". No butter, margarine, jam or other spreads. Breaking down their blurb; - Located in Mogwase, 400 m from Shoprite Supermarket - we couldn't find any shops nearby - Marys BnB features a barbecue and views of the garden - unless you stay on the side of the garden your view is of a concrete courtyard. The barbeque in the garden is completely rusted and the grid is sewn together with a mish mash of wires. - Free WiFi is available - No WiFi - free private parking is available on site - parking was fine but awkwardly configured - Each room is fitted with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels - our room had an old TV with a non functioning remote - All rooms include a private bathroom - no actual doors, only sliding doors. - You will find a shared kitchen at the property - we were never allowed to access the kitchen - We speak your language! - perhaps the owners do but none of the staff can speak English. This might have been a nice BnB a few years ago but now it is so run down and is not being maintained. I would not recommend staying here at their expensive price point.

We stayed with Pieter and Tarina Le Roux in June and July 2019. They made everything about the stay enjoyable, and were the most welcoming hosts. They picked us up from OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg, and drove us to their lodge west of Rustenburg. They helped us get acclimated to the time change and fatigue from a 40-hour flight, and worked around our comfort level for our week of game drives. They took us into Pilanesburg National Park several times, and to some other cultural sites. The highlight of our visit was obviously the game drives. We would get up early (around 5am) and have a quick but filling breakfast with the other guests and hosts. We loaded up our camera gear, snacks, water for the day, and lunches, and took off between 5:45 and 6. Spending the entire day at the game park was amazing, because you really get to see the changes in the animals' behavior as the day gets later and the temperature shifts. We especially enjoyed our day trip to the Kedar Heritage Lodge and Boekenhoutfontein historical site. It added a lot of historical context to our education about South Africa. My wife, Mary, enjoyed the spa there, and Tarina and I walked around the grounds and watched World Cup in the Heroes Bar there. I also could not write this review without mentioning the amazing food that Pieter, Tarina, and their daughters spoiled us with every day. They are extraordinarily talented not only at spotting wildlife, but also in the kitchen! I certainly did not leave their lodge having lost weight. We took about 8,000 pictures while we were there, so make sure to bring plenty of memory for your cameras. We rented equipment from lensrentals.com, but there are other good options. I must also commend the grouds staff. We always returned from our game drives and trips with our room carefully made up, fresh towels, and our laundry done. This is the quintessential "fully supported" expedition lodge, and I can easily and unequivocally recommend this for a longer stay, or even for a night or two for a more abbreviated visit.
