Montepulciano makes a great base for exploring the Tuscan hill towns. Just make sure to pack well-broken-in walking shoes, because cars aren’t allowed in the center of town. Explore the Duomo of Montepulciano and the Palazzo Tarugi… or sample the local wine, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which has been praised for centuries.

This was supposed to be a bussines stay, being a tour manager was looking into possibilities for group wine tastings combined with a lunch. Did the winetasting tour was good, meal was good. Receptionist friendly. Publicised for villa Nottola was “aircon in the rooms, wifi included. Wifi was not available in the rooms, or outside. Was unaware of the position of the property being at a busy road. After booking had several emails , with requests and regulations. In the room was a sign , “silence requested from the guests ….. Even though the noice level of the road could be heard everywhere even by the pool. And was definitely not silent. Aircon not possible I was told, 28 -35 C need to open window but still hot in the eveving, the room was by a busy road, noice was unabareable. Next day I mentioned these points to the owner, I didn’t expected the aggressive reply, while wifi was perfect it was my computer pointing his finger. I have 3 computers I travel with for work , but none of them was able to connect to wifi nor iphone and Huawei phone. Only possible by the reception . Also mentioned aircon, became even more rude & agressive “aircon was for the summer , with 28C -34C outside , room was hot. I also expected to be able to have a talk concerning winetasting & lunch for groups for 2022, the reason I had booked this place in the first place. There was no chance with a behaviour of the owner Not even beiing approachable , to even mention it. His wife was apologetic and friendly, and did her best to have the 2nd night aircon, which I did have. But the behaviour of the owner is unexcusable, I have been for 30 years dealing with hotels restaurants ect. But never was treated this way and definitely not spoken to this way in my job by a suplier. I would not recommend in this case bringing a group to the place. There are other producers in the area who are very welcoming and want business.

A comfortable and convenient stay in Montepulciano. Late November/early December is a quiet time in Montepulciano, which is when we were there. The proprietors could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the jetted tub was wonderful! The bathroom was modern and everything was spotlessly clean. The only negative is that the lighting, especially in the bathroom, was not adequate for my taste. The breakfast at Caffe Poliziano was great and the views divine. We would highly recommend this B&B for a short-term stay in lovely Montepulciano.

In the heart itself of Montepulciano, situated in a corner of town's main square Piazza Grande, with double views on city and the Val d'Orcia valley, Tuscany Deluxe Palazzo Nobile di San Donato is a private guesthouse in a period residence, original demeure of noble families for centuries and still today. Perfect place for a classy romantic holiday with a charming touch of Tuscany, independent access is granted h/24 by personal digital cards, express check in and check out. Close to public parkings, in particular the one at the entrance of upper town Porta San Donato at 50 mt, bus stop is just in front, wineries, cafèes and restaurants are at walking distance. You can rent the entire location for groups of 10 or just the single suites and rooms and the mini apartment with kitchen for a longer stay. Perfect base camp to visit a wonderful corner of Tuscany. * The palace is not a hotel, the residence provides accommodation and daily cleaning service only.
I, personally was not happy about my stay. Paying a 300EUR for a hotel room without air conditioner is not worthy at all! We were sweating like a pig in the night, it was really hot! There was a little electric fan in the room but still it doesn’t really make your sleep comfortable. Comfortability is the most important thing that’s why we chose to stay here as we saw beautiful photos of their rooms online, later we found out only the our room doesn’t have AC (by the way it was a nice old style huge room) We booked thru booking.com and it was mentioned there that the property has air conditioner, but we ended up no AC? Parking was seriously bad, we came late for check in it’s because we were waiting for a space for us to park our car as there was no parking at the hotel. Otherwise, everything else was fine, beautiful location, and breakfast was delicious.

The rooms are offered with breakfast included and equipped with air conditioning. In the furnished garden guests may enjoy wood powered hot tubs. In the rooms, and within the winehouse, a special service is offered to take care of great wine bottles (wine cellars, tasting sets).
An amazing experience at Salcheto Winehouse. We left with the feeling of having experienced Tuscany, with its beauty, food and people. We felt very comfortable, with rooms decorated in a modern fashion and a lot of space. The breakfast was served with a lot of attention, and we enjoyed it every morning as if it was the first day. Worth mentioning is the ability to take a bath in the “hot tubs” with a great view of Montepulciano, a true luxury. We enjoyed a delightful cooking lesson with Melina, as well as a delicious dinner, and a brunch, always accompannied by a magnificent wine. From there, we were able to visit several towns and cities, not only by car, but also by bike, courtesy of Urban Bikery. Florence and Sienna are a must, and Montecchiello and Pienza make up for a great bike ride along the Tuscan vineyards.

On the border between Tuscany and Umbria arises our ancient farmhouse, remodelled in order to make you feel more at home and to make it more comfortable, without giving up the characteristics of the Tuscan country house. The location is perfect for artistic and cultural itineraries. We are situated close to some fascinating locations which are rich in history and nature, such as Montepulciano, Cetona, Pienza, Cortona, Sarteano and Citta della Pieve. Nature is another important characteristic of this area. The house is located on a vast and fertile plain, originally swampy and full of water. In fact, the name "I Chiari" originates from two small ponds not far from the house. These are not the only lakes in this region. Surrounded by groves of reeds, poplars, maples and weeping willows, in a magical setting, the following lakes can be found: the lake of Chiusi and the lake of Montepulciano. The last one is a nature reserve, where it is possible to have excursions on the "Ecologic Boat". Lago Trasimeno, another lake, is considered to be one of the most beautiful panorama of the whole region, famous for its town-fortress of Castiglion del Lago. Last but not least, all of those who are just seeking for a few days of rest and relaxation will be gratified by several public baths which can be found in the surrounded areas, such as Chianciano Terme, Rapolano and San Casciano dei Bagni. There is something that suits everybody's fancy!
Our bathroom was recently renovated/updated and very nice. The room and closet were quite large and the view from our room was beautiul. The restaurant on the premises was fantastic and we ate there both nights we stayed. The grounds are meticulously kept and the pool is large and very clean. Plenty of free parking. You will need a car to stay here. The only thing I would recommend is some new bedding. The comforter was quite worn and would have perked up the room a bit. One downside for others may be there is noise from the restaurant at night. We weren't bothered by it, we just closed our windows and turned on the AC to drown out the noise.

Il posto è semplicemente incantevole, lontano dalla strada quel tanto che basta per godere della pace del vigneto. Il personale è stato gentilissimo, molto cordiale. La stanza pulita, letto e cuscini comodissimi. Sicuramente torneremo. Consigliato il tour con degustazione.
