An epicenter of eco-tourism, Manado is a popular spot for scuba diving and snorkeling, especially at Bunaken National Park. Heat your vacation up with a trip to one (or all) of the nearby volcanoes, including Lokon Volcano and Klabat Volcano, then kick it up even further with a Manadonese meal. The people of Manado like their flavors action-packed with tons of spice.

We booked one night at AirBnB. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. They had a wide choice from different dishes. From european breakfast up to traditional indonesian food. The room is equipped with everything you need (water/tea, slippers, towels, soap and even a toothbrush!). The bed is very big and comfortably. The bathroom is tiny but everything worked well. We’ll definitely stay here again. :)

A comfortable hotel with affordable price and hospital staffs.
If you do not want to miss a flight or need lodging in transit, you can stay at this place. Comfortable place, also Good service can also be an airport shuttle. If you want to leave at dawn you can have breakfast early, so don't be afraid of starvation later on the plane. My recommendation for this place.

The rooms are clean, clean crisp sheets. Bathroom clean with western toilet, shower head and a small sink. Rooms have open closets, counter space and desk space. There is lots of lighting- this place is more modern than other places I have stayed in Indonesia. The lobby is quirky and fun, but there aren't really common areas for travelers, as it's more of a hotel vibe than a guesthouse. It's a quiet place. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Featuring free WiFi and a terrace, Novita Homestay offers accommodation in Bunaken, 14 km from Manado. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Views of the sea, mountain or city are featured in certain rooms. There is a shared lounge at the property. Guests can enjoy various activities in the surroundings, including snorkelling, diving and fishing. Sam Ratulangi Airport is 17 km away.
Do not stay here. Novita see's you as a source of money and that's it. I had a terrible experience at Novita's Homestay, and unfortunately left Bunaken with a sour taste in my mouth. Novita is nice up front, but it became very apparent, very quickly how pushy she is for sales and commission. Novita's Homestay does not organize diving, but gets commission from a nice dive resort down the beach. As most travelers do, I wanted to do my own shopping around on the island to find the best dive shop to suit my needs, but she immediately pushed me to the resort she has a deal with (which I will not name, but it is a very nice place!) and had her husband drive me there right away. I didn't really have much of a choice. I ended up going with a different dive shop after visiting 4 more resorts after he brought me back to the homestay. They kept prying me for information, asking me if I'm diving or snorkeling- but with intent to try to push sales. I didn't tell them where I went diving, because I didn't want her to bother the other resort for commission- which they warned me that she would. After spending 2 nights here, I believe it. The last evening I was knackered from diving, so I was having a nap in my room. I listened to Novita yelling at someone for about 20 minutes as I fell asleep. At 6:45pm I was woken up with banging on the door and: "RIA- DINNER!". This is a real "home stay" experience; for a minute I was taken back to being 15 years old, at home with my parents yelling at me. I had to scramble to get clothes on while she was yelling my name. When I came out, half asleep, her husband said dinner was ready. I wasn't hungry and dinner technically isn't served until 7pm. So I said I would eat in 45 minutes. He said to me, "well, it's ready now". So to avoid an awkward/cultural miscommunication, I just ate the food. It took me an hour to eat since I had to force it down. At 8pm, Novita comes over and says, "Are you done? The staff needs to go home". As a business owner, forcing someone to eat faster is unprofessional and rude. Perhaps this was another culture clash, but my patience was running pretty thin. The last straw happened the next morning, where I made my decision to leave a day early. I left the homestay around 6am to have a quick snorkel off the jetty before breakfast. She saw me walk out and I felt like I was a teenager sneaking out. She rudely said to me, "Where are you going?". I said I was going for a walk, smiled and said bye. I had my snorkel and GoPro with me only. I was sitting out on the jetty, and lo and behold, she had sent her husband to come find me. It wasn't a coincidence that he just happened to show up at the jetty. No one else was around! I felt like I was being watched and followed the entire time I stayed here, by Novita. She was trying to keep an eye on me to make sure she knew who to ask for money if I gave them business. The morning I left, she gave me a big hassle and refused to give me my money back. I explained that I had to go back to Manado and she made it extremely difficult. I made the booking through Agoda, but paid in cash when I got there. I understand that Agoda takes a commission from her, but she tried to tell me the cost of the commission was 150 000 rupiah. It's only 22 000 rp, so I was happy to have her take that off the cost of the reimbursement. She said she didn't understand, and then tried to involve another traveler sitting at the table trying to eat her breakfast. She said she didn't understand and made a big hassle. She ended up calling her son, and he was nice about it all. She reluctantly gave me back the entire 150 000 to after hassling for a good 30 minutes. This is the cheapest place to stay in the village. The accommodation itself is clean and there are no complaints about the actual facility or the food. If you are on a budget and want to stay here for 150 000 rp a night, this was my experience. Do what you will with the info! Overall Novita was unprofessional and I did not enjoy my stay. I am a seasoned traveler, and have stayed in many places all over southeast Asia and the world. This was one of my worst experiences and I would never stay here or recommend anyone to stay here. But if you're on a budget- I get it! Just be assertive. Just remember that you have the right to choose the dive shop that meets your needs. It's your decision, not Novita's. You should feel comfortable and safe with the place you choose to dive with. Novita does not care/realize this and only cares about making as much commission as possible off all of her guests.

Bunaken National Park is a popular destination for divers from all over the world due to its unique coral reefs and numerous different species of marine life which make it very well suitable for snorkeling also.Bunaken Beach Resort is a comfortable and friendly resort with its own private beach and a beautiful sea view with mountainous mainland in the background where amazing sunrises can be enjoyed every morning. Our restaurant serves a choice of different delicious local dishes and on request we can make special arrangements for our guests while hot and cold drinks are available around the clock. The resort has its own professional dive center which is well equipped with good quality dive sets. In addition we have our own comfortable and large dive boat and we work with experienced dive masters and instructors.Electricity and running water are available 24 hrs and we offer comfortable accommodations varying from luxury bungalows to more basic rooms, all with a private terrace and a hammock to spend a lazy afternoon in the tropics
We booked for 7 but stayed for 9 days we enjoyed ourselves so much. This strip of the island has the calmest water. We could swim right off the beach front. This was the best coral we have ever experienced. The all inclusive meals were particularly excellent. The island got a 24 hour generator which made our lives easier with lights and wifi. Their beer and pop fridge never worked properly so it was always warm. That said some cabins only have a fan and could get quite warm. January is their rainy season but it only rained 3 times at night...funny their was hardly any mosquitoes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The property, rooms and dining area were always clean and tidy. They are in the process of moving the kitchen and dining area down by the beach. I would strongly recommend this place

Intimate nature Dive-Resort, situated on the quiet northwestern part of Bunaken Island. All cottages have private bathroom (western-style), veranda, mosquito-net an fan. We offer our guests pure nature feeling, tranquillity and outstanding divespots.
We were in Mamaling in 2018 April. The place is hidden in the mangroves, and adventure began already when we had to walk through the low tide ocean to get to this hidden gem. Run by Rose and Tom Mamaling has a great atmosphere of discoveries. Meals are arranged as social gatherings, with visitors having opportunity to talk to each other, listen to marvelous travel stories. Diving / snorkeling is superb not only because of underwater natural treasures, but also due to considerate crew. There is a spirit of summer camp in there.... Really refreshing. We also took a walk to the village one afternoon. The path was challenging, but seeing the genuine local life was really rewarding. We even saw a football match of two (!) local teams. Strongly recommend exploring Bunaken beyond boat trips to diving spots. And finally, Mamaling manages mosquitoes very well. They were there, but our blood vessels seemed to be out of reach for them. Thank you!
