I was appalled at the actual experience endured during my stay here comparing against some really positive reviews read here on this homestay. I stayed here with my family and was horrified at the way things were managed here and the condition of the rooms itself. We took 3 rooms in this homestay, and as some reviews here state, the actual size of the room are rather small. Size aside, as we were okay to have smaller sized rooms, the condition of the toilets were really bad with broken toilet bowls and as some other reviews have stated, really small towels. When we arrived, a man collected our passports to make copies of it, and while they allowed the rest of the family to enter the rooms first, I stayed behind to collect the passports once they were done making copies-and boy was that a wrong decision, I was made to wait for an hour for them to make copies of the passports and OCI documents! An hour of vacation time spend waiting in their reception area and they were really very slow in going about matters. Another male staff actually came up to us and demanded that we pay the remainder money on the spot (we booked through a travel agency and had made full payment), and we had to call the travel agent who confirmed that full payment had been made to them and told them so as well, to which they then agreed. Imagine the horror of having to wait for an hour for passports and OCIs to be photocopied then on top of that payment being demanded from us knowing fully well that the travel agency had been liaising with them at all times. Not helpful at all. Breakfast was served at their own pace although we had children with us and they told us breakfast would be served at 9am, resulting in hungry, cranky kids in a tight, crammy dining area. Certainly not an experience I would want to relive again and not a place which is child and family friendly, unlike other homestays I have been to. Bad customer service, musty crammed up rooms and broken toilets, definitely not an idea of a good holiday.

Worst place to suggest for staying , for those coming for a decent stay.... The bed linens are so old and about to get torn, hardly I could find any white color on the linens and bath towels, and plenty of stains even... The sliding windows of balcony, were about to fall on me, while opening .. unprofessional behaviour from each and evry staff... As we are two families staying with infants and kids, as per hotel policies the restaurant is supposed to be open till 10 pm, did try to order food by 8pm and the GM himself , informing his staffs have gone to attend marriage and suggesting to go get food parcel from outside... As two days stay , we checked in on the first day, we were given with deluxe room , though we have booked higher category room of the hotel, and the second day they have given the updation... Still the room facilities are poor , cleanliness is also poor. Have come to kumarakom for a pleasant stay with family, but the hotel and staff have gifted with a frustrated and unsatisfactory stay...

Our family lives in a serene village in the suburbs of Kumarakom, the famous tourist destination in southern Kerala. Meenachil River flows in the boundary of the house and reaches Lake Vembanad which is just 4 km away. Centuries old ancient churches Valiapally & Cheriyapally are nearby places of attraction. Government sponsored tourism village is coming up nearby. Guests can go swimming or fishing in the river or stroll the village watching traditional farming in paddy fields.
Stayed for a few days despite the travel ban on the Covid-19 issue. The village was especially quiet. We did manage to get a few hours tour on the Kumarakom houseboats with a splendid lunch on the boat. Riverville owners stay on the lower floor and our rooms are upstairs. There is a huge adjoining bathroom with hot water shower. Lacking a hairdryer. Towels, soap and toothpaste are available. The water however smelt and looked rusty, could be due to old plumbing but pressure was good. There is a balcony from which you could sit out and enjoy the jungle area. During our visit there were intermittent power cuts but were told this doesnt happen often. Vivek and his mom are very accomodating - they would help arrange for transport, buy dinner, make some tea etc just like family would.

Our homestay is a century old, traditional Syrian Christian mansion at the heart of Kumarakom, Kerala. We offer three beautifully appointed suite-styled rooms. Crafted by highly skilled artisans, this home can be described as a delicate blend of the wood based Kerala architecture and the brick based British architecture
Great place to stay and relax. A real authentic heritage stay with spacious clean rooms. Would like to visit again. The host made sure that we were at ease the moment we arrived and also made arrangements for boat ride in the kumarakom lake as per our convenience.

This is near to Vembanad Lake which is the longest lake in India. Stay is surrounded with green.
We had a lovely time staying at this place. It is away from the road, near the canal and among greenery. Very hospitable hosts. Only small drawback was the lack of hot water, but Uni the host's son brought it immediately, when needed. Delicious breakfast and dinner made by his mom. We really enjoyed our stay with them.

Its not a lake view resort, just a small backwater lodge. Worst customer service. The caretaker was drunk and spoke in a disrespectful manner and bought the localites and had beat me and my friends just because we stood and argued as he was not ready to give us the rooms for the booked up prices and wanted an extra 3000.
