Oahu's Kailua, meaning "two seas" or "two currents," is named after either the two lagoons located on the island or the two currents that run through Kailua Bay. Steady trade winds make Kailua Beach a great windsurfing and kite-flying destination. Kailua Beach Park features pristine white sand and views of the offshore island known as Moko nui or "two islands."

Our Lanikai Garden Studio has had a complete make-over! New flooring, kitchen, stainless appliances, paint, double pane windows, window treatments and a 24,000 btu Mitsubishi "whisper quiet" air conditioning system. This home within a room is a place where you will be able to relax and feel totally at ease. With ample space and an abundance of windows and tropical flora views. All of this is accessed through the studio's private gated garden entry, and is just 100 yds. to Lanikai Beach.
The Garden Studio in Lanikai is perfect for couples! The studio is in the small and quiet ocean front “village” of Lanikai, and is very private and perfectly-decorated for a romantic getaway. No one walks past the cottage or can see past the lush tropical flowers and privacy fence, so you can leave the blinds and windows completely open to enjoy the tropical breeze, see the tropical plants, and hear the birds singing in the morning. The decorations are perfect for Hawaii: you feel like you’re living in a local’s cottage, with many shells, paintings, books, and photographs from around Lanikai which creates a very warm and personal environment. There’s even a small hula dancer statue on the kitchen table. We love lounging in the private yard under the garden umbrella. We enjoy Rick & Nina’s property so much that we stay here every time we visit Oahu! The amenities, especially beach chairs, beach towels, and beach umbrella make our days at the beach much more enjoyable, plus we don’t have to pack as much in our bag or buy beach gear for our visits. Rick and Nina are the perfect hosts: you have complete privacy, yet they are readily available by phone. There is a large book full of information about the property, places to eat, and things to do. This side of Oahu is gorgeous and quiet. When you sit on the beach, you have a picture-perfect view of the Mokulua islets (seabird sanctuaries), the turquoise water, palm trees, occasional sand crabs and kayakers. Best of all, you have an unobstructed view of the lushness of Oahu (without high-rise buildings). Honestly, this place is worth every penny we spend.

Papaya Paradise is so close to the best beaches in O'ahu, it is a bit quieter than some other super touristy spots, and the hosts are wonderful. My husband and I stayed here for our very belated honeymoon and we were so happy we did. We had access to Kailua and Lanikai Beach, the hosts offered many great suggestions for places to eat and visit, and we were in a quiet community. The room/space is very homey and we were glad to have air conditioning to put on when we were in the room, as it was very warm in June! We were happy to have a clean and quiet room to rest at the end of each day!

We stayed in the Magnolia room that is quite small. No seating other than the bed since the chairs were needed to keep the suitcases off the floor. It was very nice to have coffee in the morning in the room. Owners leave coffee & creamer for you to use. They also cut the fresh pineapple for you upon arrival....we enjoyed it all week. The lighting in the room is well done - especially the bathroom! Owners were kind.

We enjoyed our recent stay in the Beach Bungalow. Fully equipped and very clean with everything you need including free laundry facilities. Some aspects of the unit were very dated and could be refreshed and the yard could be tidier, but we were very comfortable and would stay again. Only 10 minute walk to beach or town. The owners are helpful and live onsite if you need them but otherwise respect your privacy which we liked. The only thing I would like to suggest is a washing line outside so laundry doesn't go straight in the dryer! With such beautiful weather I was shocked that the dryer is used at all as it would dry pretty fast outside and avoid the cost and energy use of a dryer.

Kaimalino Homestay, a bed and breakfast in Kailua, Hawaii offers you a gracious stay on the Windward Side. Closed November and December
My wife and I stayed 3 nights with Susan at this B&B. Located at the extreme north of Kailua town adjoining a bird sanctuary and close to the US marines base at Kaneohe, it is very quiet and relaxing. To get around easily you must have a car. The guest bedroom has a small bar fridge to use and tv if needed. The room also has a two level lanai, which we made use for a self catered dinner from goods bought at the local market store near the main beach in Kailua. The top level of the lanai overlooks the sanctuary and out towards the base to the north and the ocean east. Very pleasant and relaxing spot. We didn't use the pool (due to wet weather) though it looked inviting at times. Susan was a very respectful host who had good advice on places to eat and visit locally and throughout Hawaii. She made us feel at home. Breakfasts were fruits, lots of English style toasted muffins, tea, coffee, and cereals if you still needed more. Overall a very nice place to kick back after the hustle of Honolulu and Waikiki and a good base for exploring the windward coast and north shore of Oahu.

We found out about Manu Mele Bed & Breakfast through AirBnB, and booked our stay through AirBnb, but for future trips, it’s awesome that we will be able to book directly! We booked the Hibiscus room with king bed. We actually booked it pretty last minute so I was very thankful Carol was able to work with me and add us into her bookings. She was also very flexible with check in and made it very easy, Carol was an amazing host. We loved talking to her and getting to know her and appreciated all of her recommendations. She provided everything we needed for a great stay in Kailua. It was so nice that she had fresh fruit available upon check in. All of the other food items she provided were also great for snacks and breakfast. It is an amazing location that includes safe, guaranteed parking, and easy, walking access to the beach. The garden area and pool were also great to have available to use! It was also one of the most comfortable beds that we have ever stayed on so we got the sleep we needed after busy days exploring! Thank you again Carol! We hope to come back soon! Amanda & Joy

Hawaii Hideaway B&B is the perfect location, comfortable, clean and very accommodating! I stayed for two weeks and loved every minute! Janice has thought of every little thing you may need - from many kitchen items, to extra food, to extra towels, cooler, beach bag, beach mats and even umbrellas for those occasional rain showers. Nestled back in a quiet neighborhood, minutes walk or bike ride to the beach and carport parking - the location is great! I rented a bike (The Bike Shop recommended by Janice) and rode all over Kailua - mostly to the beach. Nearby Lanikai and Kailua beach are often rated the best because they are beautiful, full of activity but also quiet spots and great for sunrises, long walks and swimming. The room is very clean, with a small table, comfortable bed and great bathroom suite. The shower and all the provided toiletries worked great and were much appreciated. Janice provides fresh fruit, juices, water, pastries and more upon arrival. The kitchenette is well stocked with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, hot plate, dishes, silverware, pots, pans and many kitchen utensils. The outdoor spaces were great too - I spent many mornings on my private lanai enjoying the beautiful tropical plants, birds and breezes. The room has A/C and plenty of fans - I felt very comfortable and secure. I highly recommend the Hawaii Hideaway Bed and Breakfast and hope to come back soon!

My husband and I stayed at Paradise Palms for 2 nights. Peter was very friendly and greeted us upon arrival. He was a great host and gave us several pointers of the area. There are many good dining options nearby. The room itself was extremely clean and decorated nicely. The bathroom was huge and featured a beautiful tiled shower. The reason for the average review is because the bed was very uncomfortable. We felt the springs digging into our backs and neither of us slept well during our stay here. We are also pretty sure it was a full size bed and not a queen as advertised. We were also disappointed with the breakfast. Normally, you get a hot breakfast with some protein at a B&B but this was just some bread and yogurt left in a fridge. The beach wasn’t an easy trek. You have to walk 10-15 minutes on a busy road with no sidewalks. We were under the impression it was much closer. Overall, it was fine but we wouldn’t stay here again.
