According to the Ancient Greeks, the god Hephaestus used Isolo Vulcano as sort of his own private blacksmith shop. Here you can clamber up volcanoes like Scalata al Cratere and rejuvenate in the warm and gooey sulfur mud baths of Laghetto di Fanghi. Kayaking is a popular way to take in the beauty of Vulcano’s grottoes and coastlines.

Pensione La Giara is a newly renovated typical Eolian building, surrounded by lush vegetation of palms, banana trees, hibiscuses and colourful bouganvilleas. This family-run B&B allows you to spend holidays in an pleasant and familiar atmosphere. Its central location allows guests to reach all the major tourist attractions in less than 5 minutes on foot. We are, indeed, just a few steps away from the main beaches of Vulcano ( Black sand beach and Hot water Beach), the east Port ( point of berths for ships and ferries), the walk to the Volcano Crater and the Sulphur Mud Baths. Our panoramic terrace, furnished with sofas and coffee tables, is a perfect place to relax during the breakfast and the whole day
The staff were excellent, from the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The guesthouse was located only a few minutes from the port and we left our luggage there whilst we walked up the volcano. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. There was air conditioning and a fan so plenty to keep cool and no nasty smells. ( We may have been lucky with wind direction but I think we were far enough away from the sulphurous mud to avoid the pungent smell) We stayed two nights and hired a scooter to explore the island and swim at various locations.

Spent one night at Villa Crimi as we decided to extend our stay on Vulcano. It was superb and we wished we had stayed there the whole time! Breakfast was served on our porch and the owner was super helpful and gave us a ride to the ferry dock the morning we left. Rooms were cozy clean and modern. It is about a 5-10 minute walk into town but it was nice to be in the peace and quiet of the forest.

Swimming pool, 8,000 sqm botanical garden featuring palm trees, maritime pines, geraniums, bougainvillea, jasmine and a suggestive view of the crater.Villa Saracina is located at 900 mt from the port and 400 mt from the largest black sand beach on the island of Vulcano.Rooms well furnished in typical Lipari style with 2-3-4 beds. Additional features: private bathroom, air conditioning, refrigerator and TV. The rooms look out onto the verandas around the swimming pool or are immersed in the enormous botanical garden, as single units.Terraces, lounges and Santo Stefano majolica make the atmosphere especially welcoming.
The property offers well tenured public spaces, with the large pool an attractive centre piece, with various shaded seating areas and a cosy breakfast room. The staff were kind and helpful. The rooms are somewhat small, but fully functional, including airconditioning. Many of the rooms are directly in front of the pool. The beginning of the Vulcano trail is a mere 10 minutes walk away. To get to and from the harbour with luggage you might prefer a taxi or rented car. We wound up in this location due to a mix-up of dates at another residence of the same management (Punta Aria), resolved by the kind offer to move to this hotel instead.

My sister and me spent three days in the beautiful Isola di Vulcano, an amazing and relaxing place. We stayed in this super B&B just a stone outside the tiny centre of the isle. Our host was a really nice and fine person who really let us feel at home. Everything was really perfect, must come back! I'd recommend it to everyone!

Very nice hotel in Vulcano with a great location. Just a few minutes walk from the mud baths, beaches and ferry port, as well as the centro, where restaurants and shops are located. Everything you need is right there, and when you arrive by ferry you will already see the hotel, so you can't miss it. When I arrived, I had to get my key from the bar, as there was no one at the office. The rooms are a very good size with a view of the harbor. The bar at the hotel serves a good breakfast, which is included with the room, and is also good for a snack and drinks throughout the day. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My departing ferry was cancelled and they assisted with directions on how to reach my destination.

Had the misfortune to come here and experience the worst behaviour I have ever encountered in our many years of travel. On arrival found Breakfast was not included in the quote yet Room is B&B. For €10 more, they would supply coffee and crusts (as per Italian tradition)! Told no cooked breakfast!! Tiny bed sit was quaint until we spent the night fending of mosquitos!! Come 5 am the sun came through our window, and after challenging the situation, the woman in attendance made out I had the problem cos the blue curtain was enough!!! I was holidaying with family but still cut short our stay. On last day we ventured out for the day and on return our towels were changed (even though hubby and I left ours hanging. In exchange we were given two little (what looked like worn greying beach towels) sitting on top of a folded white damp newer towel. Wanting to let the Owner know I needed different towels, I was advised by two staff that the owner was in Resturant. When I approached Mimmo and asked him to look and feel what towels we had been left with, he ripped them out of my hand, threw them on the ground and yelled at me to get out!! Said It had nothing to do with him and if I didn’t get out he’d physically remove me. I walked out in time for Antonio (the real owner) to defend me. He heard and wasn’t pleased to have his client call me “a putana” etc. Antonios apology and agreeing with my indignation did not mean much as he explained the guy had a horrid reputation and foul mouth and needed to calm down as it was his usual manner. As I have now read reviews, It seems nothing has been done to change the mozzie, curtain or B&B situation - and it’s obvious that Mimmo is still practicing as restaurant manager even though he is known for his foul mouth and anger. The great position does not compensate the lack of work needed to make people’s stay comfortable, and continuing to ignore the complaints people provide is a blatant disregard to what provides their livelihood. I just want to get out of this place tomorrow morning and I would like to have the manager up for defamation of character. He kept telling Antonio I shoved the towels in his face as an excuse for his behaviour. Disgusting for anyone to condone such degrading behaviour.

Short walk from the port to a clean comfortable welcoming owner and bed was all I needed for a good sleep. Breakfast was at Bar Faraglione. Mud pools were closed but I hopped over the fence and had them all to myself. Perfect.

We loved our 3 days stay in the B&B Villa il Glicine, the B&B is perfectly located, the volcanic mud baths are on walking distance from the B&B (5/10 minutes) and from the centre of the city you can just follow the main road and you will arrive at the B&B (5 minutes). When arriving with the boat, you can easily follow the direction to the centre and you will find the B&B without any problems. The B&B is located in a lovely place with a lot of nature around it, a big terrace with big trees so you will have natural shadow during all the day and in front of the rooms there is a big covered terrace where you breakfast is served. Its amazing to just wake up and have your breakfast outside! The breakfast itself was perfect, everything you would want was there. The coffee machine is always available for a perfect Italian coffee! The rooms where very clean and all had a small fridge and air condition, what is for sure needed in the summer periods!
