A small and friendly Scottish island family run hotel that offers a very high standard of comfortable accommodation with good, homemade food (produce is sourced as local as we can!). A lovely, newly renovated, warm bar with an excellent atmosphere and good selection of drinks. A popular, traditional establishment that many local residents frequent daily, as well as tourists.
We had a truly excellent stay - room was modern, comfortable and quiet. The whole hotel has been updated and is exactly how an independent hotel should be in 2022. Marion, the owner, is to be congratulated on investing into her business and for ensuring that her customer care ethos is adopted by all the staff. They were friendly and accommodating. We ate in the bar/restaurant each evening and could not help overhearing the universal approval of the food and presentation. The only (very minor) niggle would be for one than one vegetarian meal to be available but, on our second night, a second starter plus a largish side salad was a good substitute. A cancelled flight on the way home required Loganair to book us into another hotel and, whilst more than adequate, it really demonstrated how good the Heathbank is.

It has a twin room with en suite double shower and a double room with en suite bathroom with shower over the bath. The twin room has fantastic views looking over to Eriskay and the double room has views to the right of the beach airport and cockle strand. The beach is just outside the house. When you arrive at the property you arrive at the back where you can park. Go round from where you park and you will find the entrance to property which faces the beach.
Second time on Barra and staying here. What more can you say Great hostess, Brilliant accommodation and a great breakfast to match loads of choice as well. Thank you Lorna really enjoyed it. We will definitely stay again.

Hillside B & B has 3 bedrooms for guests, 1 x double-ensuite room, 1 x twin en-suite room and 1 single bedroom with a private bathroom. We supply free wifi for our guests use, we are a strictly no smoking household and we do not take pets. Hillside is within a 2-6minute walk to all amenities in Castlebay, Our Lady Star of the Sea Chapel, the local hotels, cafe, bank, tourist information office, post-office and bus-stop. There is ample car parking to the front and side of the B & B. Doreen ensures that her guests are well looked after as she has over 30 years experience in the hospitality and catering trade, I make my own jams, rhubarb & ginger and rhubarb & orange when fruit is in season and are available for guests to enjoy at breakfast time. Doreen loves to bake and ensures that her guests have tray bakes and a variety of cakes. We endeavour that the guests are looked after and the guests are our utmost priority. Come and experience the warmth of the Island people!
Situated within 2 minutes drive of the ferry arrivals port from Oban, this B&B is also close to all the amenities in Castlebay. The breakfast choices were excellent and served perfectly. The only note for travellers from Oban is that it would make sense to book somewhere to eat before you arrive in Castlebay as the restaurants in Castlebay are booked up quickly - this is not a criticism of Hillside!

If you are looking for for a quiet spot to stay, this is ideal, having said that, Barra is very quiet. Large rooms with seating and views, no TV (as if that's important!) but the floors can be a little noisy. Very friendly host who serves a good breakfast.

This B&B is very conveniently placed for the ferry to or from Oban. The room was comfortable and well equipped Jon and Jill were very welcoming and helpful. Although they no longer do breakfasts a well stocked fridge and hospitality tray in our room was more than adequate and they kindly allowed us to eat our takeaway at the table in the lounge.

We had a mix up with our booking in Castlebay and Anne came to our rescue. Very nice b and b, rooms were good, breakfast was superb, parking easily available, very nice friendly hosts with advice on where to go. Quite an easy walk into the town of Castlebay.

Very nice place to stay, overlooking a beautiful bay: plenty of space in our room, that had private bathroom and Tea/coffee facilities. Continental breakfast (yogurt, ham, cheese, fruit, cereals, bread) in a spacious dining room, where we could have our self-catering dinner once, when the restaurants in Castlebay were all fully booked. The owner Mairi is very kind and helpful.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our hebridean trip in September 2021. A lovely home from home, with cosy rooms and comfy beds. The location is great not far from Castlebay and the views super. Anne and her husband were so friendly and the breakfasts were amazing, I'm vegan and this was no problem for Anne. We will be back
