On the idyllic and less-visited north shore of Lake Atitlan, Santa Cruz is an indigenous Kaqchikel village with around two thousand local inhabitants. This quiet village has long been a favorite destination for those in the know who want to get away from it all, and La Iguana Perdida is proud to have been active in the community here since we opened the doors in 1996. We’ve been an “eco-hotel” since before the term became popular, converted to solar in the last few years, and we’ve always been active in the environmental movement on Atitlan. The choice of lodging at the Iguana runs the gamut, from the original wood construction consisting of spacious dormitories, private rooms with shared bath and a rustic cabana, to the more modern side of the hotel where our luxury rooms include private bath, balcony and lake views. Shared bathroom facilities are scattered around the spacious property tucked behind the bouganvillas and banana trees. Our restaurant serves delicious breakfasts and lunches from 8am until 3pm daily and family-style feasts every night at 7pm often followed by activities like open-mic and trivia. All meals are prepared by the lovely local Mayan staff, and vegetarian, gluten free and other dietary restrictions are always available upon request. The climate (warm in the sun and cool in the shade) is perfect for whatever level of activity you’re seeking, even if it’s lounging in a hammock with a good book all day. Located right on the waterfront, La Iguana Perdida is one of the best places to enjoy the beauty and serenity that Lake Atitlan has to offer. Start the day with a yoga class on the patio overlooking the lake with the volcanos framed in the distance, then go for a kayak or follow shaded trails and paths along the shoreline for a dip in the magical waters of Atitlan. After a day of hiking or kayaking, fire up our traditional Mayan sauna or treat yourself to a massage with one of our experienced practitioners. There’s no reason to be bored even on a rainy day with our pool table, dartboard, book exchange and TV room at your disposal, and if you’d like to immerse yourself more in the local community we can organise backstrap weaving classes in a local home or one-on-one Spanish classes. We even have wifi now! If water sports is your bag, we are home to ATI Divers, the only scuba operation on Lake Atitlan since 1996. Enjoy a fun dive or take the four-day PADI Open Water Course and become a certified diver. Atitlan is a collapsed volcanic caldera with massive volcanic rock formations, fish, crabs and even volcanic hot-spots you can plunge your hands into. One of the few spots in the world where you can get the high-altitude specialty certification without freezing! We’re open to travellers of all ages, and with over twenty years in business we hope we can find a way to make your visit to Lake Atilan a memorable one.
Pretty hostel in Santa Cruz Laguna, immersed in vegetation and with beautiful lake and volcano views! We spent 5 nights, and totally recommend the place. The staff and team of volunteers are simply great, all lovely and happy people who make your stay happy and help you with any logistics and questions you might have. The private room with bathroom is spacious, beautiful decor, clean and quiet. We loved the common areas, with hammocks, plenty of chairs to sunbathe and a pool table. The restaurant/cafe was also our favourite, as we had dinner with the other guests there every night at 7 pm (family dinner, a set menu that changes every evening and varies from pasta, pizza, tasty soups and BBQ on Saturdays). Really nice way to get to know other travellers, the staff and the owners, lovely people who like to talk and share their stories with everyone.

We are an eco hotel on the shores of lake Atitlan. A special hotel, with excellent view from every room, peaceful and with many activities inside the hotel and its surrounding; we are near a Mayan Tzutujil village called San Juan La Laguna, were you can learn about their interesting culture. We are specialized in bird watching and making different kind of tours (adventure, hiking, cultural, relaxing tours and more)
Great value for money hotel with nice staff and nice view of the lake. Approximately 10 minutes walk into the town of San Juan La Laguna. On-site restaurant with good breakfast. Room was big, yet basic. You can rent kayaks for free and start paddling directly from outside the hotel. Lovely kept grounds as well. Be prepared for steep steps though, as the hotel is built at the side of a mountain.

I have not visited Livingston since the start of the pandemic and was worried things would have ttaken AZ turn for the worse. It is true that many restsurants have closed and hotels look the worse for wear but not Casa Nostra. The rooms are still fresh and clean. The food is still easily the best in Livingston AND they have added a fantastic over the water dining area along with as big dock. Service is great and the friendly owner knows everything about the area. Definitely the best place in Livkngston. Dont miss.

I stayed at La Casa de Don David in 1995, and it was an awesome place to stay while visiting Tikal. It's away from the chaos of Flores, and close to the ruins. I'm so happy to see that it is still going strong!

Safe, gated community minutes from the airport with a free shuttle most hours, and a small fee after hours for those early/late flights. Super clean and comfortable room, and the breakfast in the garden was a delight (where I and each other guest I saw took many pictures). I tried to save a few Q and stayed at another hotel on my return, which was fine, but Toscana was really by far the superior of the two, and will be my first choice when I return.

Naif Hotel Boutique promotes Guatemalan Primitivist Art, with its decorations and details. It has 18 comfortable room, surrounding a beautiful garden with a Volcano view; its construction conserves antique spots and it's built with colloquial architecture. The art gallery, café, in-room SPA, and all the many restaurants and bars will make your experience outstanding!
Its a nice hotel, people have a great service, location is good. My only concern is that the parking lot is several blocks away, they´ll take you on this golf kart but it will be complicated specially if you arrive late night. No worries if you dont bring a car. Would go back to stay again.

Hotel, located inside Tikal National Park, Guatemala, 15 minutes walk from the temples. 13 bungalows with private bathroom, hot water, ceiling fan. Restaurant with AC, Wi-Fi internet service, transport, fun activities and tours. Credit cards accepted. Money exchange.
Realizing the tourist industry in Guatemala is very slow due to the corona virus, it doesn't mean that this hotel should not keep up basic upkeeping! There were 2 other people staying, 'being busy' was not the reason to leave garbage, rags, be aloof, lack of choices on the menus, etc. We were throughly disappointed with this property. The web site shows a poo, there is NO pool, the other 2 hotels do!! The room was comfortable, clean and basic. We are not picky individuals as long as the room is clean, we're happy! There was always 2, 3 staff on ... why not pick up the mask and as you can see, it wasn't a fresh one, it, along with the rags, garbage were there the 3 days 2 nights ww were there?? Not a big deal really, food ... 3 choices for breakfast, 2 choices for dinner, 1 piece of papaya was served with dinner. Embarrassing. We asked staff to put all the fans on for the sheer heat & humidity, not possible and it wasn't due to lack of electricity. Okay. The one amazing thing our awesome guide Hendry for the Sunrise Tour! It's worth every penny. The hotel staff was ignorant and rude, which I must say was the 1st time we encountered this travelling for 6 wks in Guatemala. There are 2 other hotels in the park, I highly suggest checking them out. We had dinner at the Jungle Lodge Hotel ... outstanding! The food, service, pool, grounds, lit up, warm inviting lobby, etc., beautiful. It was very sad walking back to out dismal hotel. Lastly the pictures on this site of the hotel are NOT up to date!!!

12 rooms that have 12.40 square meters each, were the rooms of the archeologists of the University of Pennsylvania, responsible for the exploration of Tikal in the 60s. The rooms have a ceiling fan, SHARED BATHROOM FOR WOMEN AND MEN hot and cold water.
I am fascinated by the service, the facilities are second to none. I had the opportunity to compare the hotel/hostel with other facilities of nearby hotels (jaguar inn and Tikal inn) honestly the price is not very different but the service, cleanliness and the fact that they have Internet, electric light (stable) mosquito net and these literally in the national park ( you do not necessarily need to pass the ticket booth to enter and stand in line ) makes your experience unique . Elvis (the guard), Leisley Lopez (at the reception) and Johanna (waitress in the restaurant) make your stay magical, they always talk with you and transmit their love for their country, in addition to always looking for your comfort and safety. I lost the key to my room and they did not hesitate to help me find it and they were very helpful in helping me open the door to my room. one day I was very tired/relaxed and literally spent the whole day and part of the night in the pool and Johanna realized that it was almost 9 pm (the time the restaurant closes) and Johanna went to ask me if I didn't want to order something before the restaurant closed. These types of gestures are what make the difference. The only bad experience (not everything can be perfect) was the guide with whom I took the sunrise and sunset tour (too bad he was the only guide (César) available with the hotel (I regret not having taken some of the local guides who are in the palapa at the main entrance) I can rate Cesar as the worst tour guide I have had in all my 3 weeks in Guatemala my reasons are as follows: 1) he never wants to take pictures of you 2 ) he wants to do everything extremely fast, he is always rushing you and does not let you enjoy the moment an external guide (lower the light, hurry up, basically he almost scolds you if you breathe) 4) He is very arrogant, he is always doing less (with attitudes and comments to the local people) Cesar thinks he is superior to others simply because he lived many times in NY and his English is very good and in his words he has had multiple collaborations with influencers and photographers. (Possibly if you only speak English and want a guide with perfect English, Cesar is the ideal option). Really the only reason why I do not give 5 stars and only 4 stars is because of the attitude of the guide and why they are not clear at first that if the afternoon tour and the morning tour are taken on different days you must pay, apart from the entrance ticket at sunrise or sunset, the day ticket for each sunrise or sunset you take and you must buy it in advance at the BanRural bank Additionally, they can be purchased at the CHN Bank agency of the World International Airport Maya de Flores, Peten or at the mobile agency of Banco CHN at the entrance of the park. The internet connection is very slow in this last location, so it is better to buy it in advance (every ticket is valid for one month). The following days I was smarter and hired the services of a local guide to explain a little more about the richness of the flora, fauna and construction Tikal processes (I was specially focus in that ) I highly recommend it (he speaks English but with a very strong accent and is not fluent ) . I leave you the number of the local guide in Tikal + 502 51839742 (Jeremías Antonio Valles Pérez) or for night walks ( to see local animals ) outside the park with Edwin National Park Guard: +502 31632028. If you are staying at the hostel and want to save a bit and eat food with a local touch, I can also recommend going out to eat Pacaya next to the camping area in Tikal. the beans are very tasty and the chicken is also delicious.
