Just a mere 40-minute bus ride from Aizu Wakamatsu Station, Okawaso is a deluxe Japanese hotel where guests can take a dip in Ashinomaki’s traditional hot springs and bask in the beauty of the Okawa valley. The bold greenery in spring, the cool Okawa river in summer, the bright orange colors in autumn, and the steaming hot springs in winter. Each season brings to the area its own special kind of beauty, which guests can enjoy from any of our outdoor baths; Shiki Butai Tanada is designed to look like terraced rice fields and Kuchu Roten Buro overlooks the Okawa river. Dinner of Okawaso is Japanese style meal and buffet style plan.
It takes a while to get there from Tokyo. By JR line we got to Koriyama then somehow caught a local train and I took us over a hour ride to get to another connecting town Aizuwakamatsu. From there you either take another local train and spend 20 minutes to Ashinomaki, and then get a taxi to the onsen hotel, or the hotel offers free shuttle to pick up guests from both stations. We tried both ways on our round trip, as wanted to see the cat at Ashinomaki station. The hotel itself, a few staff speak English very well and I particularly appreciate Melissa receiving us and introduced everything. The rooms are beautiful and when we stepped in the room it was heavy snow and the whole picture was heartbreakingly pretty. The onsen on cliff was AMAZING. The buffet dinner and breakfast was kind of average but it may only be my taste. One of the things I wanted to mention is that the staff seems to be in shortage or? As I saw the same group of staff just served at dinner and front desk and soon they were working at evenings events, and the day after early morning breakfast. I wanted to thank them for their hard work.

Loved my first stay, so brought friends for my second time. So many wonderful open-air mineral baths (main picture is on the river) & with the sister-hotel a total of 11 different baths can be enjoyed. For the 1000-Year Old Bath, it is not the marble one, so the next morning if the bath curtain is on the RIGHT side at the bottom of the stairway, be sure to experience it. I can hear the ladies from the past whispering "Ah, for a moment of peace..." There's a short stay package but then you won't have enough time to try the different baths. Complimentary little drink bar in the library area with great coffee/juice. We didn't have dinner in our room because I like the very chic atmosphere of the dining hall. Nice socially-distanced tables. Excellent flights of sake to compare. They use local ingredients with a healthy twist serving regional specialities, finishing with excellent local beef. Our room was the 2-bed/futon suite with an extra tatami room & a sitting area overlooking the river. I will look forward to my next "moment of peace" here!

Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant and unwind in a private hot spring bath with views that was open in July 2017. Free WiFi is available in all rooms. All guest rooms have a flat-screen TV and an electric kettle. Slippers and a hairdryer are provided for guest's comfort. An on-site restaurant offers Japanese local cuisine and local sake. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this ryokan. Their lounge is well stocked with different kinds of drinks and chocolates for guests to enjoy for free. The buffet spread is generous. The room is spacious and very clean and all guests are given a selection of pillows to choose from. Using the outdoor onsen in winter was just heavenly. I must say this is a Hotel where the staff and the management are so considerate to make our stay there comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you for making our stay in Aizuwakamatsu so comfortable.

Our inn is closely connected to Mr. Shosuke Ohara, one not partial to a drink or two and mentioned in a local folk song. Enjoy the wonderful overlooking view from the big baths and open-air baths.[Access Info]From Fukushima Airport: Take a limousine toward Aizuwakamatsu and get off at Aizuwakamatsu. Take a bus toward Higashiyama-onsen (20 min), and get off at Higashiyama-onsen. Walk 1 min.
I love this hotel. Why? 1. Everyplace is so clean. 2 Employees are well trained, friendly and polite. 3 beddings seemed to be incense put in and I felt relaxing 4 There is waterfall in their location and though you can see it near the entrance but it would be much much better to stay there and enjoy hot springs seeing the waterfall 5 There are several hotspings and they have soft spring quality and you can have draft beer free after the bath( a cup per person though) 6 Good dinner and breakfast . I was excited to see very famous local Sake on their wine list which is very rare.(The name is ''Hiroki ''for your information) 7 A bus stop is in front of the hotel Only one exception is that they have only one elevator near the entrance and the hotel extends along the river so if you stay in the fartherst room from the entrane, you have to walk a long way to the elevator. So I advise you that you should select rooms closer to the entrance if you can.

Dake Onsen where mt. inn is located is a hotspring resort at the foot of Mt. Adatara, one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan. The hotspring water here is of the acidic type which is rarely found even in Japan. This area also has plenty of natural resources for outdoor activities, which further increases its appeal. You can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities including mountain climbing, trail running, mountain biking, skiing, motor sports like drift racing. mt. inn is a hotel that serves as the HUB, GATEWAY and STARTING LINE for outdoor activity lovers.
I stayed here during my volunteer program. The staff are insanely nice - they don’t speak much English, but you are guaranteed to be understood! They will try their best to help you. They are extremely accepting of foreigners (all of Dake Onsen is, I found) and really put their heart into their business. As for my room, it had a mini fridge, its own bathroom, and a western style bed. I’ve heard some foreigners complain about how stiff hotel/ryokan beds and futons can be, but I had no problems. Super comfy falling asleep to the running water outside. It also has a heating and air system. The onsen is basically just a humongous bathtub. The water has sulfur(?) in it from the mountain, so it’s a kind of cloudy milky color. They say it is good for your skin. Also, this means that whenever you run water in your room, itll smell like sulfur. It didn’t bother me though. Breakfast is great. there’s always rice, soup, onsen eggs, salad, and fruit but there will also be plates of vegetables, fish, or chicken depending on the day. I guess my only complaint is the shower...sometimes i wanted to get to bed ASAP so I’d shower in my room’s bathroom. It takes a while for the water to stabilize. It would sputter violently and the temperature will be hard control for 10+ mins. I’m guessing this is because I was on the 4th floor. Overall 9.5/10 experience, I recommend it to anyone staying for Ebisu or otherwise. I don’t know why anyone would stay in Fukushima or further when Dake Onsen is so close.

Finding an ideal charming onsen ryokan in Fukushima does not have to be difficult. Welcome to Matsuriya Yuzaemon, a nice option for travelers like you. Rooms at Matsuriya Yuzaemon provide a refrigerator and air conditioning, and getting online is easy, with free wifi available. Iizaka Onsen (飯坂温泉) is an easy 25-minute train ride from Fukushima Station. It has numerous Onsen Inns, and Matsuriya Yuzaemon (祭屋 湯左衛門) is one of the good ones to choose from. With 34 rooms, I consider it medium-sized. Matsuri of Matsuriya means festival, so in the afternoon and evenings, we heard Japanese festival music. (In the morning, they switched to classic music, a nice subtle touch.) Matsuriya Yuzaemon has 1 indoor onsen, and 3 outdoor onsen for each of men and women. Hot water temperature was just right, and it was so relaxing. We soaked in 4-5 times during a single night stay. The hotel was full, but Onsen area was never crowded. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. We ate at a private dining room on the first floor. On Saturdays, they provide a traditional taiko (Japanese drum) performance by local lads. It's a special style called Kenka (Street Fight), and it was the most energetic and excellent taiko performance I have ever watched. The room was clean and quiet, facing Surikamigawa River and hills behind the river. The room was stocked with the typical Japanese inn amenities. The staff are friendly and helpful in Japanese. Overall, Matsuriya Yuzaemon is a high-quality, fun place to stay in Iizaka Onsen. Matsuriya Yuzaemon is probably about 10 minute walk from Iizaka Onsen Station. They provide a shuttle bus service, but we opted to walk both ways, as there are interesting places in between. You should visit this traditional Onsen town, and if you stay in the area, I highly recommend Matsuriya Yuzaemon.

This hotel is located at the 4th level and share all facilities of Shosuke-no-yado. The rooms are newer, higher quality and more expensive than Shosuke's room. Each room are name after an element and has no number. All Hanare's room come with attached outdoor onsen bath with waterfall view. If you cannot locate Hanare just search and go to Shosuke-no-Yado instead. There is no onsite parking. If driving you will need to unload your baggages outside the main entrance and one of their staff will guide you to a public car park which is quite far away. It is better to park yourself and I manage to park somewhere just 100 metres away. With location right next to a cascading waterfall river this is definitely one of the best onsen hotel in the area .

If you’re looking for a romantic onsen ryokan in Shimogo-machi, look no further than Toryukan. Close to some of Shimogo-machi's most popular landmarks, such as Tonohetsuri (1.8 mi) and Takakura Shrine (3.1 mi), Toryukan is a great destination for tourists. You’ll enjoy relaxing rooms that offer air conditioning and a refrigerator, and you can stay connected during your stay as Toryukan offers guests public wifi. Plus, Toryukan offers free breakfast, providing a pleasant respite from your busy day. For guests with a vehicle, free parking is available. When you’re feeling hungry, be sure to check out Chez Yamanobe, which is a French restaurant that is popular with locals and out-of-towners alike. If you are interested in exploring Shimogo-machi, check out Ono Kannondo (0.9 mi), which is a short walk from Toryukan. The staff at Toryukan looks forward to serving you during your upcoming visit.
They'll pick you up from the station, though to be honest it's only a 5-10 minute walk (across the bridge, over the gorge from the main part of town). The building is spotlessly clean and feels brand-new. Disappointingly not many of the rooms seem to have views of the gorge itself - perhaps the ones on the lowest floor may do? But the rotenburo (open air bath) has them, and you shouldn't miss it. (Apparently there's a small additional rotenburo alongside the main women's bath, but women still shouldn't miss the main rotenburo, which is partitioned into male and female sections.) Dinner - included - is a typical ryokan feast, with various things you cook yourself over tea lamps. I think this is a good choice if you're staying in the area.
