Modern Esbjerg is the country's largest port and the base of Denmark's oil industry. Central sights are easily explored on foot, and buses shuttle to the Fisheries and Maritime Museum, where Denmark's fishing history is celebrated. Visitors should explore the main streets: Skolegade is crammed with bars, and pedestrian-only Kongensgade bustles with 150 shops and restaurants. Home to the original Legoland, this city of 85,000 also offers fun daytrips to picturesque Fano, 12 minutes away by ferry.

A very nice small hotel in a very dull place. This hotel is the only place to be in Holsted. A hotel with character. Service was perfect, very nice breakfast. The room we had was a small suite with design fitted for an airplane pilot. Good to have a small kitchen with micro-own and refrigerator. We also had a balcony we used in the sunset. Wifi worked ok, but my 4g was in fact better. The breakfast was served in a large garage with design as an airplane garage, very cool. And of course, a real Danish breakfast was available. Dinner at the hotel restaurant “Blue Train” in the evening was also very good, except from the beer in the restaurant – it was a bit bitter, but that just my taste. We will be back at some time.

This ancient and homely pub/restaurant is perfectly situated slap bang in the middle of town, right next to where the town crier starts his round. The staff was very friendly and informative. It's on the corner of the Cathedral Square. Just have some wine and watch the world go by!

Very nice and quiet place to stay in Denmark. In the apartment is everything you need. They have also their own home made honey which you can take from the shelf and leave the money there (5 EUR). Highly recommended! Thank you :)

I aback for the 3rd time to stay here at the Sweet Home B&B Katrin and Benny always make me feel more than welcome, we sat last night and spoke about countries and shared a few bottles of Pinto Grigot which was very nice after a long day working in the ships. Breakfast the choice is a continental breakfast, but Katrin knows I love Tulip Danish Bacon so she makes the bacon exactly the way bacon should be eaten, crispy and plentiful. There are many choices of cereals and breads amongst other breakfast items to choose from. The rooms are always spick and span, very clean and the wooden floors are just fabulous. The beds are always clean and the quality of mattress makes you feel very homely and gives me a good night sleep. I will be back in April and look forward to staying here in Sweet Home Esbjerg. PS Its Katrin and Benny's 50th Birthdays in September so I must remember and arranging something for them both. Again I give here 10 out of 10 for location, friendship and most of comfort.

We weren't impressed with the high prices at the fancy restaurants near the river, so we kept walking hoping we'd find something. There was a lot of construction in the middle of town, but we went around it and ended up at Restaurant Backhaus. The owner was very friendly and we ordered two very nice (and large!) fish dishes for a more affordable price.

Nice bed & breakfast in quiet and relaxed area. Double or single room with linen and towels TV and internet in all rooms. Breakfast is possible. 5 Km to airport and 15 min from Esbjerg city. Motor Road E 45 nearby.

The positive first: Clean- newly painted room, friendly staff, good breakfast. The negative: Very small rooms- not even room for a suitcase. We ordered room with terrace as it was a hot day. The terrace was filthy, fags on the floor, full stinking ashtray on the table, old set of furniture full of rust. An old nest half way down from the beam. No privacy on the terrace, as it was really just the entry to the room.
