An excellent one night stay whilst travelling through northern Netherlands. The only snag was we missed the sign and took some time to find the building. My room was spotless and well appointed. An excellent nights sleep and the chickens in the run next door didn’t wake me up early either. The hostess had a arranged a good selection of breakfast options including eggs cooked to order. This is definitely on my list for a repeat visit as there was also a very good bat and a restaurant across the street.

We spent 2 nights here, as my boyfriend wanted to stay in a hotel with bowling alley. The pictures of the rooms are somewhat deceiving. They are in fact just typical Dutch 3 star rooms but with a good shower, (empty) fridge and good tv. Ours had a balcony with view of the car park. When we were there the hotel was full of groups of old aged pensioners on a Bridge break. So not really the place to spend a romantic weekend. The bowling is very professional and modern, although the video screens above the lanes that show video clips of mostly Dutch music can be somewhat distracting. The good thing about the hotel is the staff, who really try their best to accommodate your wishes, and the tasty breakfast buffet with even some hot dishes.

Stayed one night before morning flight from Groningen Eelde Airport. We felt very welcome by the amazing owners and staff. The room was clean and had air conditioning and Senseo coffee maker, which we appreciated. The hotel is in a nice old medieval village and we went for a lovely walk in the area. The owners told us a lot about the history of the village and much more, and made us a small breakfast-pack of yogurt, sanwiches and cake when we were leaving at. 5 am in the morning. We even got the owner's private phone number so he could drive us to the airport in case something went wrong with the pre-arranged taxi. Extraordinary good service and good value for money experience. We warmly recommend this nice cozy little hotel.

We stayed in a suite (large room) for two nights. Our room overlooked the canal. The room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. It had a small fridge and kettle which we liked. We needed to leave a side window open and put on the small desk fan to get some air in the room. Parking was available (we needed to carry our bags from across the road). The hot water for the shower was good. Something about the room I didn’t like - perhaps more attention to cleaning, vacuuming - there was pieces of chocolate from the previous guest on my bedside table and hair, hair bands on the other side. Regarding breakfast- we had to book a time slot due to COVID restrictions; the eggs and bacon were stone cold. There was Plenty of bread, cheese, cold meat for two people. No fresh fruit or yoghurt. Check in staff were friendly and helpful. It’s an easy walk into the centre of town where you find some nice restaurants etc.

Under new ownership this year, my previous experiences had brought me back and the new owners will maintain that. Accommodation is basic, no frills but spotless and comfortable. I spend a lot of time in hotels for work and only really sleep and shower in my room so, in that respect, the accommodation here ticks the boxes absolutely fine. Hospitality is first class, fantastic team who simply make you feel welcome. Then there's the small matter of the food.....indeed. Mathias is a trained chef and, frankly, it shows. My colleague and I could not fault the quality of the food and to be honest, the cost puts UK hotels to shame even before you consider the quality. In short, we were over for a week end of Motorcycle racing and our evenings were the perfect antidote, comfortable, peaceful, well looked after. This really is a gem of a hotel, especially considering the cost. Enjoy.
