The Hotel & Restaurant 'Aux Tanneries de Wiltz' welcomes you in the middle of the Luxembourg Ardennes in the city of Wiltz, in a beautiful location surrounded by nature and right at the Wiltz river. The hotel provides 34 comfortable rooms, some with a whirlpool bathtub. The facilities include an indoor pool, a spa area with sauna, hammam and fitness room as well as a wonderful terrace with a view of the river. A special highlight of the hotel is its restaurant with fine cuisine in the historic ambience of the old tannery, with vaulted ceilings from the 18th century. A function room for up to 85 people is available for festivities, conferences and meetings.
We had a wonderfull weekend in Wiltz. We received a great welcome and received lots of information about the local walking paths and things to do in the area. The restaurant was just great, and our room had a beautiful view on the local river.

The hotel is a rather good one. It's located in Troisvierges outskirts in a relatively calm place. Albeit it's by the main roadway inside is very peaceful insofar as either no traffic noise or of another type coming from outside is heard. As far as noise originated inside is concerned the situation is also good except if one has the bad luck of having beasts as next door neighbours. It happened to me once, specifically from the evening of March 19th to the morning of March 20th. The room 12, next door to mine was assigned to a family of beasts with, as couldn't be otherwise, very badly brought up children. The peacefulness was then broken for some hours. Fortunately it didn't last very long. The room assigned to me (room number 14) was fine. Although it wasn't very large there was everything I needed to take profit of my stay at the hotel. The bed was comfortable to some extent. In fact, the mattress isn't tough enough, therefore it's not adequate for people enduring back troubles. At any rate, that cannot be considered a serious problem. The roof and thus the bedroom ceiling is tamed on one of its sides. In the bathroom, whose ceiling is of the same type as that of the room, having thus a 45º inclination, the taking of a shower may turn out to be a bit uncomfortable since the bathtub lies under that ceiling. Apart from that, the only mirror in the whole room is stuck to that part of the bath room ceiling, what makes one have to raise his head in order to shave, comb, etc. himself, which, as it can be imagined, implies an added discomfort. The breakfast isn't very varied, for instance, as regards fruits the only choice is confined to apples and oranges, but it can be as abundant as wished. There is nothing to complain about that since what one may choose for breakfast lets him keep going for at least four hours. Owing to the epidemics which we are facing at present they kindly bring the breakfast to the room, the victuals concerned being on the basis of the selection every guest has pointed out the day before on the appropriate form. The personnel is in general very helpful, particularly the members thereof working at the front desk. All the receptionists are indeed helpful, but among them Celia and Fanny are extremely diligent and especially kind, friendly and charming. They met all the questions I had and solved the problems I raised during my stay there. Fanny specifically, with whom I did both the check in and the check out, provided me with all the necessary elements I requested upon my arrival and she did it in a rather swift and graceful manner. Celia, on her part, was very solicitous insofar as, for instance, she insisted in doing some things which I could have done myself, and she informed me very accurately about the most interesting places to be visited in the area. They are both of course a model for hotel receptionists all over the world. The cook is also very kind and diligent. As I ordered for lunch a dish shown on the menu without either any sauce or any chips and since he found it a bit strange, he entreated me to meet him at the lobby. As I explained to him the reason for me to have ordered that dish in the stated way he offered himself to cook some special light dishes for me. He kindly did it from the second day of my stay until the end of it, for which I'm very grateful to him. Apart from the praiseworthy character of that gesture all the dishes that he cooked and which I was served were delicious, very tasty and well cooked. Again, on account of the present epidemics the lunch was taken to the bedroom and served in it. The room maids, on the contrary seem to be a bit tricksters and negligent. My stay at the hotel lasted for five days but my room was made up only once. I usually went out for sightseeing roundabout 10:30 in the morning and came back for lunch after 1:30 in the afternoon. During the said lapse of time, lasting more than three hours, they could have made up and cleaned the room. Notwithstanding that, they came twice later than 2 o'clock when I was already having lunch or was about to do so. Of course I didn't want the maid performing her job in the room while I was eating. The other two days on which my bedroom wasn't cleaned not even that alleged attempt occurred. It's obvious that they should be trained conveniently in order to try to make them become more reliable and conscientious workers. In any case, the flaw referred to in the previous paragraph is not to the detriment of the hotel good quality as a going concern mainly due to the mentioned competence of the receptionists and the peacefulness reigning regularly inside. In my opinion is a recommendable place to stay for some days. It's an adequate place likewise for visiting the town parish baroque church dating back to the 17th century, which is very interesting, as well as some other nice monuments lying in the nearby localities.

The park-like property with a pond, a massage hut, a bicycle hut and the exclusive chalets provides the very best experience with regards to location, comfort, cosiness, furnishings and service. The interior furnishings with high-quality timber elements (some of which are very old) add a note of individuality to the various themed chalets.
Relax & Spa. Says it all. This has been a great stay. Not cheap but absolutely worth it. Fantastic house, super service. The house has excellent spa facilities and each bedroom has its own bathroom. The area is good for hiking. The nature is beautiful.

It's a good hotel in all respects except in that concerning peacefulness. The building isn't sound-proof, that's why in the bedrooms one hears all kinds of noise taking place at the hotel, such as door slams, knocks on walls and even the ladies’ noisy walking on her hills anywhere inside on the part of the floor not covered with the carpeting, such as the bathrooms and especially the veranda being a section of the restaurant. That nuisance may become rather disturbing sometimes. The hotel situation is fine, mainly on account of the panorama which can be beheld from the large window of the stated veranda. Huge fields are there within sight where from time to time a flock of sheep comes into sight. It's a very interesting view. Further off, the forest landscape neighbouring those fields is also very nice. The personnel is superb. Everybody is of a extreme kindness so that one feels pampered at any moment. All the waitresses are very helpful, friendly and diligent, particularly Mariana. She is an extraordinary lady possessing a charm and a gracefulness above the average. The fact of talking or dealing with her is a real pleasure. She could be considered as the spine of the hotel, the one playing the crucial role in the hotel business development, thus standing for more that 50 % of its goodwill. The breakfast is good and abundant. All the food available for that meal is of a high quality. The pastry is very tasty as well as the fresh fruit. The menu concerning the other meals which one can have in the same restaurant is very thorough and varied, the choice of different dishes which can be taken is very large and they are all tasty and well cooked. Once I had sea-bream meunier and it was delicious. Likewise the meat is very good, so the fillet I had on October 5th was also fabulous. In order to sum up it can be reiterated that it's a good hotel. It could be very good if it were more peaceful, what could be achieved through sound-proofing the building.

Before the pandemic we often went to this restaurant, always a big pleasure. Now we do the take away, from the menu or the lunch menu. Wonderful food, big portions, friendly service. We had again take away today, amazing how constantly good this restaurant is. Looking for a traditional excellent Luxembourgish Restaurant in the Clervaux area, this is it. Real good price/quality value.

Booked a night, but did not stay. What you will get is a rustic and picturesque first impression and as long as you have no issues or problems along the way with the hotel then you are probably going to be fine. WARNING: Be sure to understand what room you are booking. The lodging has hotel rooms and cabins. We booked the hotel thinking we were going to have a balcony. We specifically booked a double deluxe river view room. We we booked on hotel third party site the room shows a balcony and a few pictures of the room. We thus thought we were getting a balcony room that had a river view. The reality is that the hotel has a couple rooms with a balcony facing the river. The reminder of the rooms are those with a window and no balcony. Not ideal for going to this hotel. The rooms are dated, the window has to be open to really get a since that you have a river view. otherwise it is a room with a big window looking at trees and the parking lot across the river. Apparently there are sites that have the balcony room listed but ours did not but it did have pictures of the balcony non the less. JUST BE CAREFUL when booking to know what room you will get. We checked out after not getting what we thought we booked. The room was dated, was HOT due to the temperatures outside and no A/C (this is not uncommon in central Europe so not a deal breaker if you have a balcony to escape a enclosed oven of a room). We did not intend to spend the money to sweat the night away. The river view was less than optimal and unless you opened the window and stayed standing at the window you were not going to view the river--whats the point. We booked on a Sunday and the onsite restaurant is closed. I get people need off and understand this, BUT there is literally nothing around to eat for a good 15 minutes by car, knowing this is the case in summer high season they should take advantage of the earning opportunity and cash in and provide a bit of customer service, especially if someone came by train. Customer service they get a ZERO. Knowing we were not at all happy with the accommodation they blamed the third party website for the photos. Were reluctant to help other than say they would refund a portion of the amount we just paid to them directly (5 minutes early) and then said they would have to get the booking site to see if the booking site would compensate them for a lost nights earnings. The third party booking site said that since we paid them directly there is nothing they could do. However upon leaving 2 hours later after we spent 1.5 hours at a restaurant away from the property we returned to a hot room and just said forget this and checked out. They said they would not refund us as we had stayed in the room (a total of 15 mins). We were in the room a total of 15 minutes (nothing disturbed, beds remained made, towels unused, etc) and we generally wanted to try to make the best of it. We typically are not a high maintenance customer and can deal with most things. But after thinking about the situation at dinner (away from the room and property and coming back to a hot room) we decided leaving and getting a rest in a room that was not a sauna was better. We handed the keys back did not argue and the response we got back was we can't refund you the room rate because you used the room and had we left earlier we would have maybe gotten our money back. Had it been the case they refunded us without stipulations we would have left 2 hours earlier. Sometimes situations are so unpleasant that you should not accept bad accommodations and bad customer service. By accepting a bad situation, all this does it let these establishment do this to future customers. We walked away with a lost nights accommodation cost. We will not go back; we will not go to their restaurant (which we had been to before without staying at the hotel) and if others ask we will give them our impressions of the property. Repeat business and referrals are how hotels are successful. Dealing with less than perfect situations is how good hotels thrive and become loved. Tips to those considering the property: -- expect rustic -- the surroundings are beautiful but this has to do with nature and not the hotel. -- know what room you are getting, call ahead if needed and important especially if you think you are getting a balcony room -- check your room out first if paying at the property -- know that this is a rustic location. -- have a low expectation and it will be exceeded. Tips to the property: -- update your rooms -- label the photos with the type of room for each type and category of room you sell. -- come up with solutions to problems. If you had said you had a balcony room available 2 weeks later we would have left and came back two weeks later. But you did not. You would have probably kept us as a customer for both the hotel and restaurant, but not know. -- Be pleasant and smile even if the situation is less the optimal.

Remember, this place is closed on Mondays! We stayed by special arrangement three nights, so Friday-Monday. As the Real Royal Ruler Roland made it happen, but there was one small unfortunate misunderstand. Otherwise, those three nights, two breakfasts and big birthday party at restaurant on Saturday evening were great experiences! Hotel is really good, room was so nice, great countryside view so close to most services. Good parking. Room itself is lesson how to use modern technology with reasonable budget. Saturday meal for six was something to remember all life! Such tasty food for different requirements, unexceptionally great wine offer and very good service. Lovely place - but only from Tuesday to Sunday!
