At the westernmost point of the African continent, Dakar stands as a multicultural, diverse city full of vibrant arts and traditions. Residents from various ethnic groups present assorted crafts, foods, jewelry, fabrics and wood and metal goods at bustling markets such as Marche Sandaga or Marche HLM. The city is home to museums and mosques, cliff walks and beaches, and makes a convenient jumping point for excursions to any of Senegal's national parks and nature reserves.

I have stayed at Calao five times and I am adicted to the beautiful gardens, the restaurant and the wonderful international character. Just a short walk to the Lac du Rose in which u can float rather than swim - the salt lake is supposed to detox your skin/ Pierre and his charming wife manage the place superbly. Nice swimming pool and a great place to relax away from noisy Dakar or from a drive across the Desert.

Located in a center area of Dakar, particularly convenient to access the airport. Basic business hotel, rooms are quite small but cozy and very clean. Italian management with excellent food on the rooftop restaurant and for breakfast. Receptionist very nice and funny. Recommended for business people who don’t need leisure facilities.

The "House of Peace" is located in an outer-quarters of Dakar, not far from the airport. A small, familiar guesthouse in the evening you can relax after your excursions in the city center. A few steps from the house is the beautiful beach of Yoff Cimetiere. We attach great importance to cleanliness and safety. The hostel has 7 rooms in 3 different categories. We have rooms with private bathroom (with hot water) and those which share the bathroom (hot water). One of the rooms is equipped with air conditioning, the others with fans. The windows are protected with mosquito nets, on request we can mount mosquito nets over the bed. Breakfast is included in the room rate. On order, we are preparing for the lunch and dinner in our beautiful restaurant. We spoil you with meals from Senegal and Europe. On our beautiful terrace overlooking the sea and in our cozy garden perfect places to relax. My team and I have worked together for several years. So now we have grown into a little family together and the welfare of our guests is very important to us. If desired, we can help to organize inland trips. We cooperate with reliable drivers / guides. These are available to our guests along with their cars. In Dakar itself offer trips into the city center. There are colorful markets, many small shopping streets, the harbor district, magnificent mosques, interesting museums, the old train station in the colonial style and generally admire the hustle and bustle of an African metropolis.
We stayed at the Auberge Keur Diame again end of November 2018. Ruth (the owner) is amazingly friendly and hospitable. Her place is an oasis of tranquility and honesty. My car had to be repaired and Ruth went out of her way to assist me with repairs.

This is a no frills, tidy, comfortable hotel that's an easy walk to the port, shops, cafes, restaurants and market. The restaurant serves good Senegalese food in a leafy courtyard and the desk staff are friendly and willing to help with a range of requests. The cleaning staff were especially gracious. It's a good location to get to know the Plateau area of Dakar and a cheap taxi ride to a meal by the beach.

I had been regular Business Traveler to Dakar - Senegal. One of the Hotel i used to stay regularly and do meetings was at Hotel Cafe du Rome. Stay experience was never value for money but i was preferring as it was near to my work meetings and was not sure about other nearby hotels. Been regular customer does not help as they dont value it as hotel feels they are always in demand so they take customer for granted. They have increased room rates which is not worth. also if you try to extend your stay by hour or two, reception will charge you for day. Today they lost regular customer.

I liked everything about this hotel. It is in a very nice area - Mermoz & felt very safe as a solo traveller. The decor is very lovely & there are many spaces for relaxing , including a room terrace. My room was comfortable. There was a kettle in the room & complimentary toiletries & water. I have no negatives at all. Breakfast was delightful omlette , croissants & bread , cheese , yoghurt , juices , coffee . I will go back for sure.

First of all we went to the boutique shop. We loved everything we saw, from furniture, beddings, beautiful cotton fabrics all hand woven in Ngem, light and easy to wear dresses, tops .... a delight. Then we also found out about the B&B at very affordable prices with individual bathrooms. All in all we highly recommend this place.

The room is spacious and clean. Breakfast is adequate and served on a terrace. The staff are friendly and there is ample hot water. The flat screen TV has a good reception. There is a good quality mosquito net fitted to the bed. That's where the good points end. This is neither a hotel nor are they apartments, the rooms do not have a kitchen or even a fridge. The "restaurant" serves breakfast only so that makes it a B&B. I think dinner can be arranged but I don't want to eat alone! The shower is hot but is not fitted to the wall and the shower head is badly blocked so expect to run around for a wash! Hopefully it will be replaced today. Internet is extremely intermittent and poor. Data roaming offers only a small improvement but at least guaranteed access. Forget Skype whilst here, bandwidth is insufficient. You cannot walk to restaurants, downtown or reasonably equipped food stores. This is off the beaten track. I walked for five miles and could only find unsafe street food and tiny corner shops. This is a very Muslim part of town which I respect. However, this also means no bars or even a place to buy a beer. Access is unlit and down two unmade alleys. It's hidden and tricky to find unless you have good local knowledge. The building provides a terrace which is pleasant in the mornings. However, power is not available at night so you are confined to your room. In a nutshell, it is a comfortable place to sleep and have a nice breakfast. Nothing else! The place is totally unsuitable for a business traveller, a car is essential and if you need to communicate with the outside world , don't come here! I didn't book it, my host did!

I wanted to flee when I first arrived. From the ratings I would not have chosen Cabourg. I read another review where it said Cabourg grew on the guest. Very true. Luis and staff were the best thing. The offending salmon wall color in my room did not matter anymore. I purchased a room deodorant from Auchan which did not manage the musty air. Room 20 has a fab bathroom. The coffee was made right. The fish and fries we ordered were delish. I am actually at the point thinking to come back when next Dakar?
