"Pub with rooms"! An 18th century coaching inn located at the heart of the beautiful and vibrant Ribble Valley village of Whalley. Lovely and individual guest rooms above our quirky village inn. Proper food, cask ales and friendly service in one of Lancashires smartest villages.
Booked this hotel because it had a car park but on arrival we were told it was not available as there was a craft fair on it. ( this is a regular event & we should have been told sooner). Room was clean & beds were comfortable but access was via a very steep staircase with a dirty, worn carpet. No hot water on the first night, tea & coffee making facilities but no cups. Breakfast on day 1 was disappointing - dried up bacon & cold tomatoes. Day 2 we went for breakfast at 9:15 to be told that on weekdays service finished at 9 am. We had been told breakfast was 8 -10am. No notices anywhere with this information. manageress was very offhand and no apologies were made. Location was good but poor service, not worth what we paid.

Elegant, country Inn in the Forest of Bowland with a seriously good Steak Restaurant and genuine warm welcome from owners Frances & Jonathan. 8 boutique bedrooms complete with French antique beds, fluffy slipper comfort mattresses and wet room bathing. Real local cask ales, great value wines, roaring log fires and Charlie, the black Labrador. Heaven!
The owner was extremely rude, and completely unprofessional. Made zero effort to address our concerns about being charged THREE times for a one night stay. Told us it was our fault for using booking.com?! They are cancelling reservations to avoid paying their fees to booking.com - but on this occasion did it too slowly, leaving us to foot the bill. Totally unacceptable and incredibly rude owner.

Clerk Laithe Lodge is located in the Forest of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Lancashire, newly opened in Spring 2014 and offers superior bed and breakfast accommodation in spacious en-suite rooms. Guests will enjoy excellent home cooked food for Breakfast and Evening Meals. Quality Vegetarian Breakfast and Evening Meals Option. A warm welcome is assured.
We stayed for 2 nights for my husband’s birthday. We were welcomed on arrival by Matthew and shown to a beautiful spacious room (3) with a wonderful view. We had booked dinner for the first night and were so impressed (and very full!) we booked dinner for the second evening as well. Helena’s cooking is spot on, with Matthew an excellent waiter and host. It was the little touches that set Clerk Laithe Lodge and Matthew and Helena apart, fresh milk in small bottles available in the fridge in the dining room, use of their landline phone to check on my Father (no mobile signal from my provider and my Dad not understanding a call on WhatsApp), help with directions into Skipton, etc. It was also lovely to chat with them both, never rushing us out or being too busy (though I am sure they were). We would definitely recommend it.

The hotel at Holmes Mill offers great value accommodation to the heart of Clitheroe with our new 39-bedroom hotel. Built within the 1823 Spinning Block building, this stunning development brings together traditional charm with modern industrial chic. And it’s the perfect base to explore the Ribble Valley and beyond.
Well located, modern, clean and comfortable - very nice hotel. Billy and Jill were very accommodating and kindly gave us a let checkout as we were in a rush getting ready for a wedding. We would definitely stay here again - thank you very much!

Kitchen extractor fan piercing ear plugs and a window which wouldn’t shut in the bathroom. That combination, regardless of great food and staff makes this place uncomfortable. No heat in May (even for a towel rail) is parsimonious though understandable. The other issues, though, should be fixed.

In the area for work we found the lower buck in the beautiful village of Waddington. The village is so picturesque with an amazing memorial garden and has.lovely walks . We were greeted by friendly helpful staff and the whole place has a warm family feel to it. The pub is quaint and full of charm offering classic pub food. We stayed in the Piggery which was characterful ,warm and cosy with a comfy bed and a silent fridge which was a nice extra. They had only just started doing breakfasts but what we had was very tasty. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone. Mr & Mrs Gardner

A four star country house hotel providing luxury accommodation at the heart of the fabulous Ribble Valley. Our big idea for bringing this magnificent 15th Century manor house back to life was to take it back to its roots and make it feel like a home again. Somewhere that looks and feels like it belongs to somebody. Stunning interior design and decoration perfectly complement the ancient architectural features to create a contemporary country house hotel. Both effortlessly beautiful and unashamedly romantic. The ambience is quite unique. It is certainly luxurious and feels exclusive but the luxury and exclusivity are open to all. From a relaxing morning coffee or afternoon tea, to lunch or dinner and for everything in between.
Used to be a regular here before covid such a shame we won't anymore. Decided to go out for tea one Thursday night drove past Mitton Hall saw a few cars on the car park so decided to try. We asked at the front desk if they were doing bar food they said yes go through find a seat which we did, we went to the bar to order drinks and ask for a menu to be told they weren't serving food even though a number of people round us were eating ? We didn't question it left and ate elsewhere. The following week we thought we'd try again this time on a Thursday, we arrived asked at the front desk could we eat yes find a table in the bar which we did. We ordered drinks and were given menus. Whilst we were choosing the guy behind the bar finished his shift and a lady came on we had decided what we wanted so went to order to be told she needed to check with the kitchen as she didnt think food was being served even though people round us eating. She came back and said sorry no food wasn't being served tonight ? whilst she was checking with the kitchen I went on the app to book a table which showed it was open a number of tables available I showed her this and said how come I can book a table but your telling me I can't she went away for a few minutes and the app suddenly said no availability how strange. I voiced my concern saying I wasn't happy what poor service and was told to e mail if I had a problem which I did and got no answer until I e mailed a number of different address eventually i got a reply weeks later saying they were sorry but due to covid they had been struggling with staff and should be fine now, they said if we booked a table for food again and notified the manager they would give us a complimentary drink. I sent an e mail back saying I wasn't satisfied with that as we had bought drinks whilst we were waiting to order which we wouldn't of done if we'd of been told we couldn't eat so should at least be refunded that cost. I'm still awaiting a response from this mail, not hopeful i'll every get on as weeks ago !

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque conservation village of Worston but only a couple of minutes from the A59, the Calf’s Head offers 12 en suite homely bedrooms including a King room and deluxe suite with air bath. Open fires, and a dog friendly pub brimming with traditional character plus a “glass house” conservatory for diners to feast their eyes on the stunning gardens, picturesque brook and Pendle Hill whilst enjoying a spot of breakfast, lunch or dinner makes this inn a favourite for families. We offer an extensive range of dishes which are always cooked from fresh to please everyone’s taste buds. Where possible we use locally sourced produce to create a wide range of quality dishes and plenty of it! There are always 4 real ales, a large selection of good wines and the essential gin range. Our large dining areas can also cater for private dining, celebrations and business meetings.
Came across this gem whilst driving on the A59 towards Clitheroe.. Managed to get a table fairly quickly as place was very busy.. Food came after a short wait. Steak pie & hot pot were both delicious.. Sherry Trifle was lovely. Service good & staff friendly. We would definitely return.

In the middle of Bolton by Bowland in the Ribble Valley, an area of outstanding beauty, stands this beautiful Grade 2 listed Inn. Closed for years, the elements have had their destructive ‘fun’ with it. The owners knew this area as they rented a holiday cottage nearby several times. When the ‘for sale’ was on the tired facade they did not hesitate, purchased this gem and started making plans to create a hotel, restaurant and bar with the intention to put the Coach & Horses back on the map in the Ribble Valley. After 9 months of intensive work, creating 7 beautiful rooms, a copper clad bar, cosy restaurant, new kitchen and beer garden they reached the end of the project and the Coach & Horses opened its doors to old and new friends. The in-house microbrewery complements the artisanal approach to restore the Coach and Horses in its old glory.
We first stayed in the Coach and Horses in Summer 2019. This time, we had done a Charity Walk in Cumbria and so only booked late and as it was only a 1 night stay, we chose the Blue Room (one of the smaller rooms). We were booked on the Weekend Taster deal which was great value as it offered a 5-Course Taster menu for dinner and full breakfast. We had an aperitivo in the cosy bar and then sat down for the lovely taster menu which was washed down with a nice bottle of Viognier. After a digestivo in the bar we had a short stroll around the lovely village before bed. The full Englsih Breakfast was exceptional and washed down with a few gallons of tea. We would like to thank James and his staff particularly Ramune who all looked after us very well. We will be back fo sure.
