Dazzling fjords and vertiginous Andean peaks cover Chile's best-known region, turning this slim swath of land into a playground for skiing, whitewater rafting and trekking. To the north lies San Rafael Lagoon National Park with its impressive ice fields. In Patagonia's southern stretch, the city of Punta Arenas is the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park, which attracts serious climbers and casual day hikers to its granite peaks, glaciers and waterfalls.

I was here for a couple of nights on my way to Torres del Paine. It was wonderfully welcoming. Great, comfortable room. Solid breakfast. Good conversation with the host. The BB is also centrally located. I walked everywhere from the site. And it was not uncomfortable at all.

We stayed here twice on our trip around the Carrera austral. We loved this small hotel. It has a contemporary feel and us very stylish and comfortable. Great breakfast served until 10.30 am. Very friendly staff and one of our favourite places of our trip.

I traveled solo to Punta Arenas and stayed at this hotel for 1 night. The taxi dropped me right outside the hotel. The area seemed pretty calm. In fact whole of punta arenas was like a small town with not a lot of hustle. Checked in to the hotel, they ask for passport and tourist card (that you received after entering Chile). I am vegan. The front desk person agreed to give me vegan friendly breakfast togo as I had to leave for a tour early morning next day. So that was great. The front desk person did not agree to give me late checkout as he was unsure of when the next guest to the room were arriving next day. He said it would be fine if I left my luggage in the laundry room before going for tour and pick it up after coming back. Overall the stay was pretty good. I had forgotten my toothpaste and the hotel did not provide one. So there is a nice store nearby the hotel where you can buy stuff like this with credit/card or cash. Small hotel, very centrally located, but in a very quiet place. It has 7 rooms with private bath, including breakfast, wi-fi, parking
The hotel is well located, directly across from the casino and within 5 minutes walking distance of the main town centre. Room and bathroom were very small and there were many rules written mostly in Spanish about conserving water etc. Two nights we were there we had cold showers, and Coyhaique is very cold as it is! Minimal soundproofing between rooms so you can hear people coming and going constantly and using the bathroom. Staff were friendly enough but didn't speak any English. Breakfast was average, you need to pay extra if you want non-instant coffee, no fruit, no milk.

Casa Lucy a place to rest, comfortable, cozy, spacious bitaciones, with personalized service and breakfast included, we wait ...
We stayed the night at Casa Lucy and found it quite pleasant. The room we had was simple but the bed was very comfortable and the entire place was immaculate. Lucy was very welcoming, she doesn't speak much English but can make herself understood and seemed to understand our needs. She was very sweet and helpful, sweet person. We were on our way to Torres del Paine after a long set of flights and this was a great spot to rest up for the drive up to the park. it also had a private bathroom, which we find to be a necessity. Again, so clean! Breakfast was set up for us at a time we chose. Lucy will prepare eggs and there was juice and toast, and coffee available. Again, simple but good. The coffee here is instant, but we found that at a few places on our trip. I switched to tea, which was fine. This is definitely a good place to stay, clean and comfy.

I took the perfect review record with a grain of salt, given the small sample size. But after staying three nights at Appelgren House, the score seems understated. The minimalist hotel exterior conceals a wealth of treasures within. Artwork and artifacts from the proprietors' very extensive world travels are tastefully arrayed on the hotel's walls, ceilings, and floors. The place is less a boutique hotel than a museum. Better yet, owner Heliodoro promptly and thoroughly dispelled our confusion about how to best access the Torres park and area surrounding El Calafate. Clearly invested in making sure we had a good time, with charm, wit, and exemplary taste, he set out an itinerary, made reservations, and even pulled strings for us. This included steering us to great restaurants and even particular dishes on the menu (before we left for Buenos Aires, he made us a list of places to eat - all have been wonderful). Every suggestion panned out beautifully. The value of a person who can help you get the most out of a substantial investment in traveling to the extreme other side of the world can hardly be overstated. I recommend Appelgren House and Heliodoro unqualifiedly.

We stayed for Two nights, clean, nice people, shows ok, no cable tv, only if it works, a bit of a walk to Centre, but not a big deal. For the price a bit high, would I stay their again only if I couldn’t find a better value.

We have Singles - Doubles - Triples and Family Rooms (double bed and two single beds). Each of them with the following amenities: Private bathroom with shower WIFI Towels Cable TV Central heating Private Parking Breakfast included
We were told a price on arrival which we took to be for the room, this was a bit more than anywhere else we had stayed but we agreed. We were told to pay later. On paying the price doubled (per person not per room). Some of the confusion was possibly due to my poor Spanish, but she made a point of speaking very quickly and at great length. Anywhere else my Spanish had been more than adiquite. When I gave up and went to pay she put it through in US$ rather than pesos possibly just to add more confusion. Rooms were clean but small, breakfast was small well below average.
