I thought this place was just wonderful, it is really old fashioned (in a good way) spotlessly clean, and has a lot of character. I've never stayed anywhere like it. I booked the hot thermal bath which was a great treat after 250 km walking the camino. The staff were helpful and friendly particularly the lady at the breakfast service. Caldas is a nice pretty town with good options for food and drink.

Two rooms were rented for a group of 5 cyclists. Rooms were comfortable although felt a bit small and cramped. Two bathrooms shared by four or possibly five bedrooms. Accommodation was very clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast consisted on one capsule for a cup of coffee, some bread and a small carton of fruit juice. Again, this accommodation was booked as a budget 'place to stay' so it was fine. I would return again (probably).

We stayed here while walking the Camino. It's a beautiful villa out in the country with a swimming pool and lovely grounds. The proprietor cooked us a delicious dinner with fresh vegetables from the garden. Everything was fabulous. The only downside is that it's about 7 km off the Camino so they pick you up in town and bring you back, so you don't have as much flexibility.

La Casa Herreria is a recently restored accommodation from 1918, located on the Portuguese Camino de Santiago; beautiful rooms, has outdoor pool, garden, terrace and shared lounge in Caldas de Reis. Free WIFI. All rooms at the property have heating and a flat-screen TV. The rooms are equipped with a private bathroom with a shower, free toiletries and a hairdryer. The Blacksmith House is perfectl
We accidentally ended up at Casa Herreria and lucky us. It was a clean, lovely, nicely decorated, comfortable place. Fernando was the most gracious host and a master of details. Everything was nicely appointed and clean and lovely. I'd highly recommend a stay at Casa Herreria if you're in Caldas de Reis. It's convenient to restaurants and great for Pilgrims passing through. Great showers!!

We were on the Camimo and as we liked trying different places we said we would try out Motel Caldas. We were a bit taken back by the way you registered going into the motel . It felt as we were entering a prison facility as opposed to a motel. The man on reception was nice and explained to us the unusual way in which food would be delivered to our rooms but that there was 'no eating area' as such (I presume because of C19). The rooms were clean and spacious to be fair although a bit dated. The evening before we left, we ordered two ice creams to our room. As per the regulations we were to pay on checking out. However on checking out the woman on reception was extremely rude and slammed the reception window in our face. We were taken aback and simply left the money for the ice creams in the slot under reception and left. I accept there could have been a language barrier but there is always a way to speak to people no matter what language you speak ! I don't really write bad reviews but I hope this review is taken as a warning. Worst stay on the camino! Friends had warned us to avoid spanish motels years ago but a last minute decision in the height of summer meant we were left with little choice. The strange registration via intercom and a hole in the wall gave truth to the 'other' use of motels. The rooms were basic but clean (other than a few nasty looking carpet stains and the shower was excellent but the aircon had broken..on the hottest day of the year and only a sigle fan could be rustled up between two rooms which meant the room stayed at a balmy 28deg all night. The comings and goings of other 'guests' during the niight didn't help with a good nights sleep either. The rooms were booked as large douubles but were actually the smallest allowable double sized room in spain. Breakfast was reasonable and included but again served anonymously via a quick knock on the door and a tray outside. This felt beyond bizarre. The outside door would also feel a bit exposed for single female travellers given the normal business of the place. Oh and in case you haven't guessed it yet..there were two free conndoms in the bathroom!!

Además disponen de servicio de cafetería y restaurante en la planta baja, independiente del Hotel.
The hotel was located three or four minutes from the centre of town, but only two minutes off the Camino route on an extremely busy road. Happy to report that the wifi reception is perfect given previous negative reviews. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast next morning was buffet-style and extremely plentiful with all the usual items.

As part of our SantiagoWays (reviewed separately here on TA) Camino package, our group of ten peregrinos had dinner at this restaurant at 9:30 on a Friday night in late May. We were staying at Hotel Pousada Real, and made the short walk to the restaurant. The wait staff here have limited English, but try hard and are very friendly. Our meals, based on the standard pilgrim’s menu, consisted of appetizers, mains, desserts and wine (both white and red). Appetizers included large mixed salads, and croquettes, while mains included fried fish, breaded pork cutlet, chicken fillets, and roasted pork. Desserts included ice cream cake and St. Marino cake. The salads were very good with fresh components, and the croquettes were quite good. But the breaded pork cutlet was just average, as were the chicken and the roast pork. The fresh fish was good. The desserts were both good, particularly the St. Marino cake. We assigned this a 3, but it really should be a 3.5.
