Remote Bhutan first allowed the world a peek inside in 1974. With four millennia of habitation, the Himalayan kingdom offers a trove of archaeological treasures, including many ornate temples and dzong fortresses. Isolation has preserved the heavily Buddhist-influenced culture of the last Shangri-La.

We had an exciting stay at Nirvana Inn during our recent tour to Paro, Bhutan. The hotel is conveniently located right at the center of Paro city. The famous Rinpung Dzong is at waking distance from the hotel. The room provided to us was very neat, clean and spacious with all modern facilities. The view of mountains, valleys and Paro streets from our room was amazing. The staffs of the hotel were very soft, polite and helpful. Overall, we had a memorable stay at Nirvana Inn, Paro. Highly recommended!!!

The hotel is decent, although can take a little while to find. The photos look a bit deceptive. However, the hotel as such is good and is right outside the airport runway, so you can feel the windows thundering caused by the propellers early in the morning.

Tashi Namgay Resort is one of the best Bhutanese managed resorts. It is located opposite Paro International Airport separated by a big river (called Pa Chhu). The resort is spread over 8 acres of lush green agriculture field along Pa Chu with 360 degree views of beautiful landscape. The traditional Bhutanese architectural design and modern amenities were combined to provide our guest a comfortable stay and yet experience a Bhutanese lifestyle. Unlike many hotels & resorts of equivalent standard in Paro valley, Tashi Namgay Resort offers high standard spa facilities, fitness center, Bhutanese hot stone bath experience, traditional games like archery, khuru, dego, BBQ and bonfire facilities.

It is a very beautiful , full of character hotel. Rooms are huge and very comfortable. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Located close to town. Food is good enough to eat. We came here to see the country so food doesn't bother me at all. Just a short stay so didn't have a chance to check the pool.

Location is beautiful. Room allotted to us was very mediocre. The bed linen was not changed and appeared dirty. With the coronavirus alert we expected the staff to be a bit more aware and careful. The staff seems to be a bunch of young girls, still apprentices, not confident. Service was mediocre, housekeeping did a sloppy job. The bathrooms are bad, the pot was moving and tilting on use, improper water drainage would flood the whole bathroom. Food was very basic and catered to American tourists only, breakfast options were very limited.

In Thimpu, probably at all the hotels, bring Earplugs!- the stray dogs will *never, ever, EVER, EVER* stop barking from sundown til dawn. You have been warned. Great view overlooking the Memorial Chorten. Foreigners allowed to enter at 9am. Frankly the breakfast buffet is lackluster at best, but the menu items are better, although not "mind-blowing," as I've seen it called. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and polite. The front desk and the manager are very kind. The rooms are overall large and comfortable.
