About 15 miles southeast of Perugia lies the lovely walled town of Bevagna, which, happily for travel-weary hill-climbing legs, is basically flat relative to other area towns. Can’t-miss sights include the 12th-century Palazzo dei Consoli (Palace of the Consuls) and the churches of St. Sylvester and St. Michael Arcangel, both also dating from the 12th century. The Madonna of the Snow was built atop a Roman temple ruin. The Mercato delle Gaite, a major medieval festival, happens every June.

Because of car trouble we ended up in the small hilltown of Bevagna in Umbria, near Perugia.By chance we found the albergo/hotel El Rancho, located just outside the city walls.Attached to it is a restaurant. We had a bedroom with a king size bed,and bath with breakfast for 60 Euro. There was no elevator, but the rooms are all on the first and second floor. The breakfast buffet offered a large variety of items, many of them sweets, cakes and tortes. There is also a swimming pool on the premises. Bevagna is a tiny little town, all surrounded by city walls, about 40 miles from Perugia and worth a short visit. You may even want to choose it as your base, and take day trips from there to Perugia,Assisi,Gubbio and other small towns in Umbria or the Marche, areas which haven't been overrun by tourists yet.

Consigliato

We received ,as a gift ,a package in this “ locanda”( through Groupon) that included a night’s sleep, dinner or lunch and an appetizer... The place it’s in the center of the village, very simple, spartan and not very clean. In the toilet we found the “ marks” of the guests that slept there before us and there hair on the toilet seat..reading other peoples reviews, we decided to have pizza for dinner, not a good choice..i had the pizza with truffles that did not taste anything like truffles and it was the most expensive pizza on their menu,my other half ordered the “ anema e cuore” pizza, witch had so many spices on it that it was uneatable..the girl from the reception was very nice but the guy that served us dinner had a very “you disturb me “ atitude .Aldo in our package we had included a 2 course menu plus appetizers and we chose just 2 appetizers (delicious ) and 2 pizzas they made us pay €2 for one bottle of wather ...i don’t know how mutch they charged our friend for the package but i hope it wasn’t much... One thing we realy appreciated it’s that they aloud us to reschedule our stay , aldo on the ticket was clearly stated that once you made the reservation you can not reschedule.

Set in a beautiful valley, close to Castelbuono is this countryside house with an outside hot tub. Furry kids are accepted and peace and quiet is guaranteed. Dinner can be enjoyed 10mins away in Castelbuono and very kind host Giovanna is full of suggestions! She also brings down fresh croissants (chocolate, crema, pistachio) every morning together with fresh fruits from her dad's orchard! Highly recommended!

Sicuramente consigliato.
