We recently stayed at this beautiful, very comfortable hotel for a night. We couldn't have had a warmer welcome which set the standard for a wonderful experience. We had a fantastic evening meal - the taster menu and drinks and a great breakfast the following morning , (they catered extremely well for gluten free). We couldn't fault the wonderful food or ambiance of the hotel, but what made it was the staff - so helpful and friendly. It's obvious they care and really want their guests to enjoy their stay. We would highly recommend.

The Peacocok is a 200 year old, and very typical English pub set in the Centre of Bakewell Town. We offer accommodation varying from lovely traditional type rooms in the old stables fully converted with en-suite bathrooms (showers only) inc full English breakfast if booked direct with the Peacock as opposed to third party web sites - Book direct with the Peacock to achieve a better deal. The Pub has a very varied menu that is all prepared and cooked on the premises by very skilled competant chefs with many fantastic specials.
Came here and we ordered 2x southern fried chicken burger and a fish and chips . When it came it was beautifully presented and looked amazing ( see picture attached ) . It tasted just as good as it looked ! I don’t know where people somehow find flaws in restaurants like the peacock but I don’t see any problems with the peacock!

Set in Beautiful open countryside of the Derbyshire Peak District, Newly Renovated Farmhouse, located between the villages of Elton and youlgrave, and close to the market town of Bakewell, ideal for visiting Chatsworth. A warm Welcome awaits you, comfortable rooms with, ensuite facilities dining room and lounge, Home cooking, local produce. Special diets catered for by request. All the bedrooms face the front of house, and have lovely views.
This is a small working farm, doing B&B as an aside. In my view this is the highlight of the place, with free roaming chickens and turkeys, the resident pig and sheep doing the same around you, but you may not like it if you are looking for an hotel. You are not likely to see the hostess at all, and check in may be self service according to were the farmer is working when you get in. Breakfast is self service in the morning, but you are stocked with all sort of cereals and a full fridge, plus fresh eggs and fresh pastries brought in early. Good quick wi-fi but little or no phone signal. We were in the ensuite, other rooms have a private bath on the landing. Rooms are high standard and charming and guests are in a wing of the farm so that the only common area is the entrance where you are expected to leave your shoes.

Set on the Chatsworth Estate, Beeley is one of those picturesque unspoilt country villages. And The Devonshire Arms is one of those picturesque country inn at the heart of village life. But with a difference! It offers the charm and character of an historic inn with a warm and comfortable interior full of oak beams and stone crannies. Make your way through to the brasserie and be amazed at the contrast of the startlingly different décor with panoramic windows overlooking the village, the contemporary bar, the glass fronted wine store and colourful furnishings. And for the ultimate escape, why not stay in one of our eight stylish cottage bedrooms.
Second visit to the the Devonshire Arms at Beeley and we were not disappointed. A good/interesting menu, with some welcomed imaginative dishes for vegetarians. Food well cooked, tasty and beautifully presented, very pleasant waitress. Good range of ales and beers - well kept. My only criticism is that bar staff could have made a little more effort to at least appear pleased to see us, the place wasn’t busy but it didn’t feel like a warm welcome - a lack of smiles and positive eye contact. This sort of basic customer greeting can make or break a pub.

Serverly understaffed, 1 guy serving trying to keep up, 1 girl behind the bar. Not their fault at all, hire another server at least ? If there's an issue with the ticket machine do a lap of tables and maybe see who's waiting on food ? We waited because we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Had to go up ourselves to find out our food hadn't been processed...
