We're a family of four with 2 boys, we had a wonderful 1 night stay the room was perfect for our needs and the food at the restaurant was incredible. Steak and Ale pie is a must have. All the staff are super friendly and the service is great. The place itself is an old 17th century building so has lots of charm and character. Play area outside aswell for the kids who made friends instantly. We would definitely stay here again.

The George and Dragon is a family run town pub with en-suite accommodation. We serve home cooked food all day 12-8pm, We are situated on the market place. We started our adventure two years ago and have managed to gain a great reputation through our home cooked food, great beers and our newly decorated en-suite rooms. Come and see for yourself.
Four of us visiting with a four legged friend, stopped off for a spot of lunch. Very welcoming to humans and dogs alike, with 4 absolutely superb meals. We don’t live local but if we were to return we’d have no hesitation in stopping off again.

We made a reservation some 2 /12 months ago direct with the royal oak for my wife and I ,my wife is a very disabled person so on booking 3 nights b&b the person doing the booking was asked if they had downstairs room, she answered no but had got one upstairs I replied saying it was no good for my wife being disabled could not walk upstairs she said we have a stair lift that was good news ,, she was then asked if they had a walk in shower yes was the answer so thought great** .on arrival yesterday 3rd june 2022 we were told the room we had booked was overbooked but could have one other and move into the original room on saturday , so on looking at the room via a antique chair lift which difficult for a disabled person to get into and none of the rooms had a walk in shower ..the so called manager appeared to be take it or leave it attitude and they had not over booked but bookings .com had done it very disappointed and wiil never go there again and warn prospective visitors to check there booking are secure .

Overnighted here last night and it was a perfect place to rest. As others have said, the back room is quieter, though what traffic noise there was didn’t bother us. Room was smallish, but the bathroom was huge with both shower and bath! The view over open countryside was a nice bonus Breakfast was cooked to order in the morning so was piping hot. Also obviously high quality food is used here, it was all delicious. With only two rooms, it’s never going to be busy, but as it was just us it was extra peaceful A great choice

Overall an enjoyable stay. The room we stayed was dated, but considering the price we paid it was acceptable. The owner was very friendly and accommodating and obviously cares about his customers. The breakfast was very nice with a selection of hot and cold. The hotel is situated in a beautiful part of the UK.

We visited for an evening meal as a group of four in April. The location is amazing. From the outside it looks like a traditional pub. I therefore expected traditional decor and home cooked food. I got what looked like a badly decorated living room. I spent the evening with the brightest light shining in my eyes. The food is all straight from the freezer to microwave. I know that not everywhere is Michelin star and amazing but I really can’t think of a good think to say about this place other than where it is.

My friends and I had a lovely time staying at these homes. The rooms were lovely and everything was very clean. The homes are a 5 minute walk into the centre of Ashbourne, but there is also parking outside for cars. I would happily return to stay here if I visit Ashbourne again in the future.
