Charming edifice with a new decoration, Château du Bost welcomes you in Bellerive / Allier in a refined and elegant setting for a gourmet break and soothing. For connoisseurs, a fine cuisine based on seasonal produce and vegetables from the organic model farm awaits. Enjoy its 8 rooms, each featuring beautifully appointed individually decorated, overlooking the park or the castle moat. A timeless moment, the charm of a warm Castle, designed for your well-being and enjoyment.
A charming hotel with convivial hosts. We opted for one of the standard rooms which was quite small (as we expected) but clean and well presented overlooking the moat. We took a walk down through the woods, followed by an excellent evening meal with friendly and efficient service. We would recommend taking a 10 minute drive down to walk along the banks of the Allier and enjoy the riverside parks.

As part of our journey home to England we found ourselves needing somewhere to stay in the Moulins area and we chose the small town of Lapalisse and stayed at this property It is a big old house with great charm but the facilities are very modern and up-to-date and very tastefully done. After we arrived from our long drive we were encouraged to relax in the lovely garden at the rear of the property and even at 6.00 pm the outdoor swimming pool seemed an attractive proposition We ate our evening meal at the property and the food was very good- just what was needed a light meal with fresh produce including the herbs we watched being cut whilst we relaxed in the garden It seemed like a throwback to a former age, but the hosts are most welcoming and Stephanie speaks very good English

Lovely hotel with incredibly helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are not large but they are perfectly functionable and immaculately clean so no complaints. Offered excellent value for money. Lunch was a gastronomic delight, we didnt expect it... but no wonder the dining room was so full, be sure to book a table, it is truly delicious.

Auberge Magnette is a small family hotel restaurant in the heart of France, near the village Audes ,beautifully situated in a rural setting where time seems to have stood still, The cosy inn is more than a century old, located just off the Canal de Berry. With us you can also enjoy a good meal, a quick bite or a beverage in the bar or on the terrace in the shade of the 100 year old linden trees.
Stephen and Nelleker work hard to keep everyone well fed and happy. The rooms are air-conditioned and a fair size with wetroom type shower/toilet. There are intriguing decorations in the house - the downstairs toilet needs to be seen to be believed! The building is in a very quiet place next to the Canal De Berry and the intriguing Canal De Berry museum which is well worth a visit especially as you get a clever audioguide which tells you everything in your own language - very useful for people like us who only have school French. Nelleker does all her own cooking for breakfast, lunch and evening meals so the restaurant can't be any closer. Because of the excellence of the meals it isn't worth looking for anywhere else. There is a village a few kilometres away with an InterMarche for cheaper petrol. We used the Auberge as a stopping off place on our drive from Calais to Le Somail as it is roughly half way and close to the A71. Interestingly, Stephen and Nelleker are friends of Dirk and Inge in Le Neptune where we stayed in Le Somail. When we got to Le Somail, about half an hour after we arrived Dirk came to say that Stephen had rung to check we had arrived safely! Try getting that level of customer care in the UK!! For anyone on a touring holiday or wanting a base for cycling/walking, then this would be for you as well as for the "commuters" en route to a further place like us! Note, coming from Calais you can save a small fortune on tolls by going via Rouen rather than the Paris route - relatively quiet traffic for almost the whole journey though it does add about 30mins.

Incredibly charming, exactly what you’d wish for in this context. All the historical beauty of the building and the gardens is preserved and kept pristine, but inside the rooms you have a tasteful minimalist decor with all modern luxuries ;) the hosts are super welcoming, the breakfast on the porch is very close to nirvana. 5/5

Situated in the center of France in the Department of Allier, the medieval city(estate) of Charroux is classified among the Most beautiful Villages of France, the only one of Allier. " The House of the Prince of Cop ", XIII - XVIII centuries are in the very quiet heart of this medieval city(estate). The former(old) staves(moats) gave their place in a charming closed garden raised pleasantly flowery. Ideal place to settle(arise) for a break reading, take a glass(have a drink) or even make a picnic. Our house keeps(guards) its name since the passage of Louis 1st of Bourbon, first Prince of Cop, in December, on 1568. He was an uncle of future king, Henri IV and leader(head) of the Protestants during the Religious wars. All our rooms(chambers) are quiet and have an independent access. We have at your disposal the WiFi in our lounge(show) Not far from Charroux: the cities of Clermont-Ferrand, Vichy, Moulins(Mills), the family park Vulcania, The Pale (amusement park), also, of number of chateaux to visit closed by.
The hotel was amazing, the owners were so nice and the hospitality was great. We even got the room in the city walls because someone had to stay longer in our room and they upgraded us. Even if we didn’t got the free upgrade it was still an amazing stay. They were nice, thought about everything and gave us tips for the road. Also speak good English which is sometimes hard to find in these parts of France. Could advice everyone to stay here

La Grenouille Noire is 'under construction'! But fear not, my first Junior Suite is just lovely! Decorated in green and golds and filled with brocante and charity shop finds, with the added benefit of an internet TV, Netflix, Tassimo drinks machine, WiFi and lovely views of the Church and Donjon. La Grenouille Noire was originally a 16th Century jail and the four underground prison cells can be visited and seen from the guest suite. Over the centuries additional buildings were added to make La Grenouille Noire a family home. Years of neglect have taken their toll and I am slowly renovating the 300+ square meters back to its former glory! You are more than welcome to take dinner and breakfast at La Grenouille Noire (a supplement of 6€ pp for breakfast, and 25€ pp for 3 course dinner (including wine and aperitif)). If you wish, a small kitchenette is available.
We found the host Chris, really nice and friendly, the room was comfortable and clean. Also he is a great cook. There was also great entertainment from watching him try and control his three cats :) (they mostly ignored him). We would start the day with a great and generous breakfast of croissants, yogurts, melons and fresh bread.
