Surat Thani (Thai: สุราษฎร์ธานี, pronounced [sù.râːt tʰāː.nīː]), often shortened to Surat, is the largest of the southern provinces (changwat) of Thailand, on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand. Surat Thani means "city of good people", a title given to the city by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI).

Absolutely beautiful beach!! Gentle waves, beautiful sand, crystal clear water. A few small massage huts and little restaurants on the beach, but it's so quiet, so tranquil, so peaceful. Shade in the afternoon great for kids. Little village at the end of the beach has a few local restaurants, mini marts, laundry, a few souvenir shops. Very stunning, quiet and relaxed part of the world, it's so beautiful!

I came to Thong Takian to kill two days on a beach before I started a photo assignment on the island. All I wanted was a simple, clean room with a comfortable bed and a nice beach to decompress on after a long flight from London. Thong Takian nailed it. The staff are super friendly, the beach is wonderful and the little beachside restaurant was perfect. The coffee is amazing, even by my well traveled and snobby standards. Oh, the Thai food is good too. One thing I wouldn’t recommend is the sausages for breakfast. It’s one of those countries that just doesn’t do sausages or bacon properly. I would definitely come back here. Hopefully with more time and a stunning woman.

the most beautiful beach in koh tao, in my opinion. great snorkeling, turtles and baby sharks, also super quiet (sometimes we were the only opeople in the beach) and very calm and clear waters

This beautiful, remote cove has a sandy beach and is accessible by foot or by boat.
Sai Nuan beach is my favourite place in Koh Tao, I visited everyday during my 1 week stay in the island, super quiet and peaceful beach, you can enjoy stunning sunsets there. MUST visit

Blissful and idyllic. White sands to sink in, calm waters to chill in. Cocktails, fruit shakes, good food, gorgeous sunsets. We think: paradise.
Nice place to relax , good place to see the sun set, it is a secret place , we pass in front 2 times before seeing it

One of the nicest beach on the island with beautiful turquoise water and nice stretch of white sand to sink your toes in. Some lovely hotels around here and a small town with restaurants, bars, shops and places to get massages.

Soft white sand, fringed by palm trees swaying in the breeze - this is most people's idea of a tropical paradise. A gently shelving beach makes this a great place for families with small children. There are plenty of cheap, but tasty, restaurants scattered along the bay and some great restaurants for a bigger meal in the evening - lots of very fresh fish as this is essentially a fishing village. Be wary of sand flies though - I recommend you use mozzie spray and lie on a mat or towel. Also at certain times of the year there are occasionally box jelly fish swept in from further afield, but ask around if there are reports of any, otherwise the sea is really war. It is also possible to get a long tail ferry boat from here to bottle beach (which is pretty inaccessible by road - certainly by scooter) it costs 150bht per person for the boat, it's quicker and more fun.

I’ve been to Lamai, Chaweng and Bang Po - Bang Po really stood out for me compared to the others. Both Chaweng and Lamai are very touristy, the sand colour is yellow. Bang Po is far quieter, less touristy, more secluded and the sand is whiter. The ocean colour is teal and the water is very warm with no waves
