Ios embodies that classic Greek island ambiance—hillside clusters of blue-roofed white buildings, an amphitheater, golden beaches that spill into the sapphire sea. The spindly windmills of Ios are like something from a storybook, and a visit to the Tomb of Homer (yep, that Homer) is an exercise in awed contemplation. When the sun goes down, party it up at one of Ios’ many electrifying nightspots. Favorites are Astra Cocktail Bar and the (kind of insane) alt-rock scene, The Orange Bar.

A peaceful, clothing-optional beach, great for swimming and sunbathing.
We arrived midday to the island so we got to the beach by 2pm there where not many sunbeds available, lucky enough we did find a large cabana style for the 4 of us that offered lots of shade as well as sun! The service is good, you can also order food and drinks on the beach. Prices are very affordable compared to most Greek islands. The sand is amazing and the water super clean. Just a reminder there is a lot of rock that is slippery when entering the water but once u swim past it u are on sand. Also there are spots that have just sand not so much rock . Definitely a must when u visit iOS!

This is our favorite beach on Ios. After a spectacular, but easy, descent along a winding road to the bay below, when you arrive in Aghia Theodoti there are two roads to the beach. Most go to the left, but we prefer to turn to the right in the direction of Aghia Theodoti - South. It turns into an easy dirt road just before you arrive to the most unspoilt and greenest part of the beach. The entrance into the water is easy here, not rocky as it is to the left of the beach. There this summer as in the past 11 years Andreas from Ios with his Kantina was there to offer us refreshments (Cappuccino freddo, Mythos beer, ice cream, a small grill, etc.) and local honey (unbelievably good) in the shade of his umbrellas, with his generous smile and exquisite Greek hospitality. The wind is very variable in Ios. I find the North wind doesn’t bother me as long as its not over 35k/h, on a hot day it’s even more than welcome and it keeps the insects away. Many select the beach of the day on Ios taking into account the wind conditions. As of the end of June there has been no cases of Covid on the island. We really felt like one of the very lucky few to have been there this year.
