Plage d'Hendaye

Clearly marked swimming areas, water quality, waste management… you will know it all! With water that reaches 23ºC in the height of summer, it is a privileged spot for families who seek plenty of space and safety. It is also a good choice for novice and seasoned surfers in search of sensations. The beach attendants propose facilities such as tent and deckchair hire and beach clubs for children. The beach of Hendaye offers bathing water quality A for several years.

Montalivet Beach

Plenty of space, sweetwater showers, various guarded swimming areas, your choice of clothed or nude bathing, lots of kilometers to play and walk more or less alone, nice waves, fine sand without Arnes - what else can one ask for? We have tried many beaches all around the world and this is our favorite!

A small and charming beach close to the town centre. Good sand and well sheltered from large waves. I would certainly go again.

Plage des Cavaliers

I truly love all of the beaches in the Anglet area. Our challenge in the past has been the number of tourists; this time was the waves. The surf was rough for several days, and daily surveillance by lifeguards had not yet begun. I advise going when there are lifeguards if any member of your group is entertainingly the idea of going in the water—even if just for a few yards or meters.

Grande Plage

Big fine sand beach protected by a bay at the heart of the city. Ideal for the bathing in family with young children. Clubs of beach, rents of tents, deckchairs and parasols. Nautical activities on the spot as paddle board, towed buoys, water-skiing ... Handiplage and Audiobeach next to the lighthouse.

Do you like rain? No, try an overcast day, or if you are fortunate, the sun will be filtered by humidity or as clear as any sky you have ever seen near the sea. The walk along the entire length of "la digue" combined with detours along the beach in the sand is splendid. Start in front of the entrance to the port with the village of Ciboure facing you and walk toward the small white chapel atop the hill in the opposite direction. On this side of the bay, climb the stairs and explore the hill. There is a blockhouse left from WW II. There are pancaked layers of rock and the sea crashing against it below. Climb the hill. See the view just behind the St. Michael chapel that spans a view of the entire bay from la Rhune mountain all the way to the Pyrenees in Spain that spill into the ocean. The personality of any weather is worth the hide and seek excursion with nature and her Atlantic Ocean gifts. Then treat yourself to a coffee or chocolate somewhere in the village!

Socoa Beach

Nice little beach protected in the Bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz-Ciboure. This beach is perfect for families. Little of current and waves. Beach watched between the middle of June and the middle of September. Restaurants, snack bars and nautical activities (snorkelling, paddle-board, kayak, water-skiing) nearby.
