Small bar in Launceston, Tasmania. A warm, friendly space to relax and enjoy good wine, good food and good company.
This little wine bar is the sort of find that makes you think “yeah I can live in this town! “ Having Recently moved from Sydney and after extensive travels in America and Europe, I was delighted to find this authentic, intimate , quiet wine bar with a superb selection of wine and great small plates , I highly recommend it!

Originally went as part of a group of eight. Really liked the food but distracted by children and others in our party! So decided to return as a couple. Food, if anything, was even better. Very good fish and truly wonderful hand cut chips. Prices were also very very good. Service was great and the atmosphere of the old (1838), refurbished pub was stunning. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Friends living in Pontville took us here for lunch and the menu was pub style but the chef here I think is fantastic. The crumbed scallops were delicious and lightly crumbed and you got to taste scallop rather than crumbing. The vegetables were crisp, fresh and delicious - first time I've eaten all the mashed potatoes served to me. The children's crumbed chicken tenders were real chicken not nugget variety and the chips were very nice as well - crispy and not oily tasting. The child's Spaghetti Bolognese looked really and the pasta was not over cooked and it's a dish I would have liked to have eaten. So top marks for great food for children. An unassuming pub with I feel fantastic food and I wish it was closer to where we're staying in Hobart as I'd go here for dinner as well.
