Top 10 Bars & Clubs in Savannah, Georgia (GA)

September 2, 2021 Myesha Cogley

Charming Savannah is the picture of antebellum hospitality, thanks to period architecture and oak-lined streets. It’s tempting to spend your trip just relaxing on vast verandas and sipping mint juleps, but there are plenty of historical sites and museums to explore. Haunting (and possibly haunted) Bonaventure Cemetery is one of the hallmarks of the city, featuring beautiful obelisks, masses of flowers, and ivy-covered crypts. Dine on fresh seafood and creamy grits for a taste of Savannah home cooking.

My husband and I finally made our way here and we are so glad we did! The service was phenomenal, the drinks were out of this world and the atmosphere was wonderful!! We loved the speakeasy vibe they have going and they have the largest cocktail list I have ever seen; it was fabulous! This will definitely be in our regular rounds of places we like to visit! Plus, as a local, it was great that tourists haven't figured this place out yet, well for now that is ;)

Congress Street Up

Serving classic craft cocktails surrounded by the ambiance of 1920’s decor. Sorry, no Bud Lights here! All of our cocktails, wines, and beers can trace their origins back to Prohibition. Don’t worry though. Everything we serve is the cat’s meow!

We had an excellent night at this speak easy. We had our first drinks off the drink menu and then experiment by having the barkeep make us something they thought would please us. The interior was decorated in prohibition pictures and fittings. It was a great experience and was priced right.

The Wayward

The Wayward bar isn’t your typical local watering hole. Wayward is an experience—everything about it is an unexpected turn of expression. Wayward is refined but a bit off beat. It embarks casual elegance mixed with a touch of rebellion. Wayward is nothing, if not irregular. Nestled inside Perry Lane Hotel in Savannah’s Historic District.

I was a bartender in clubs for 10.5 years and it is exceptionally rare that I am impressed by a bartender, but I was quite impressed by the one that made our drinks at the bar. Not any kind of stupid bartending show, faking that they are making a high quality drink. The bartender came across as really knowing what he was doing so I just told him the things I like and had him make me whatever he thought I would like. Every drink was shear perfection. We were very impressed and will be back soon. In fact, our experience was so good that we plan on spending a weekend at the Perry Lane Hotel, even though we live in a suburb of Savannah.

What a fun, unassuming, downtown hidden gem! Our bartender served a beautiful cocktail, and looks like Benicio Del Toro. Great way to end the night ❤️

This little bar is near City Market. It is not touristy, which is a plus. The bartenders were friendly and poured a great drink. They do have a happy hour. On Fridays, they have free fried chicken, while it lasts.

We had a blast at Savannah Smiles. It was the weekend so it was crowded, but totally with the wait. Once we finally got a table and chairs, that made it even better. The guys singing and playing the pianos were amazing. They also had awesome Jell-O shots that came in large plastic syringes. They were awesome! It was a very fun night!! Lots of fun singing, dancing, and drinking!
