I had my first experience with axe throwing last week at the Axeville Axe Throwing Club. I did this with a group of friends and we had a blast. This venue is excellent, especially for first time axe throwers. The online reservation process was simple and straightforward. The staff was committed to teaching us how to throw and gave us pointers throughout our time at the club. So if you are in Asheville and want to experience something new and different you need to try out the Axeville Axe Throwing Club! Cara Winstead

Balsam Falls Brewing

Driving through Sylva around 8pm on a Sunday looking for somewhere to get dinner, but everything is closed. Came across Balsam Falls Brewing and lucked into a great new place. From the friendly person whom I spoke with on the phone to find out what kind of food they served who ended being our wonderful server, Morgan, to the fresh food and great tasting beer. Morgan wasn’t kidding when she said they had a great Greek salad and my husband had a yummy tomato capris flatbread pizza. Fun atmosphere. Followed Covid protocol. Overall enjoyable meal. We are looking forward to going again.

I stopped in with my dad and we enjoyed some great beer. The stout was very good. My dad had the Bimbo and loved it. We liked it enough to go back the next day to watch some football and bring a friend. If you like beer you need to stop.

After a day touring this fine city, we chose this place on a recommendation from a friend. She was right, and it exceeded our expectations. The group playing was wonderful and the food terrific and prepared correctly. We had the vegetable plate, scottish eggs, roasted brussel sprouts, bangers and mash, and of course beer. Don't miss it.

If you are in Asheville and looking for a great place for beer, this should be your first spot. You need to take the short walk outside of “downtown / historic” Asheville. It’s worth the walk, and you will get a better sense of what Asheville is like. Once you find this place, you’ll be rewarded with exceptional beers and great service. Highly recommend.

Lookout Brewing Company

Reviewed By LuvMex828 - Sheboygan Falls, United States

We enjoyed the last nights of the outdoor firepits before they were packed up for the season. The outdoor area has plenty of tables so that you can distance from each other. We didn't get a good idea of the Lookout craft brews due to the line being shut down for a changeover to an upgraded brewing system going in. We knew this because the bartenders and regulars apologized to us for the limited selection. The locals were very friendly and welcoming.

Oskar Blues Brewery

Reviewed By alpK3012SF - Raleigh, United States

The Oskar Blues Brewery has a great outdoor space for their tasting room. This was our first draft beer out since Covid-19 hit in March. We visited on a Thursday in October 2020 after hiking waterfalls in the area. The pilsner is their signature beer, and is really good. It is a little hoppier than an ordinary pilsner. I also tried the lager, but found it weak and tasteless. We had a great experience there, and we felt very comfortable with their Covid-19 prevention practices. Their social distancing rules and "No mask / No beer" policy were enforced very well. They have a wide variety of beer styles to try.
