The capital city of Sweden combines modern attractions with historic charm. Kick off your stay with visits to Stockholm’s two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Royal Palace Drottningholm (the residence of the royal family) and the magical Skogskyrkogården, or Woodland Cemetery. Stroll the cobblestone streets of Old Town and over the picturesque bridges that span the city’s canals. The 19th-century Skansen was the world’s first open-air museum and is still a premier place to learn about Swedish history.

THE WORLD'S ORIGINAL ICE BAR ICEBAR by ICEHOTEL Stockholm is the world's first permanent bar made of ice, built in 2002. Every year in April, the interior and design is renewed with fresh ice from Torne River and skilful ice sculptors from ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi in the very north of Sweden. ICEBAR by ICEHOTEL Stockholm is open all year and has a constant temperature of -7 degrees celsius (19 degrees fahrenheit). The interior is made out of sculpted ice from the arctic Torne River, just like the glasses your drink is served out of. The bar has room for up to 60 people. The entry fee includes a cocktail and a visit lasts about 40 minutes. Children are welcome, and are served a colourful kids' drink. ICEBAR by ICEHOTEL Stockholm is centrally located on Vasaplan, next door to Stockholm Central Station and the airport shuttle train Arlanda Express. Nordic C Hotel is located in the same building as ICEBAR Stockholm. Since it opened in 2002, the ice bar has become a popular attraction in Stockholm, attracting both tourists and locals who want a slice of the arctic north in downtown Stockholm.
We were visiting this port from a cruise ship, we had taken a hop on/off bus tour earlier in the day but decided after that we would go back by our hop off/on bus into Stockholm to check out the world famous Icebar. We were not sure if we’d be able to go inside because there were excursions there earlier in the day. The hotel clerk told us that since there were just 3 of us they could fir us in. First we were fitted with a lined poncho with gloves attached. We handed a ticket to the bar tender indicating whether our package included fruit or alcohol drink. Our drink was served up in an ice cup and was delicious. We were given as much time as we wanted to explore the room that had many different etchings of scenes on the walls that were highlighted by colored lighting. It was a nice experience and we were very glad we made the effort to come. People at the hotel were very friendly, too!

The Grand Hotel bar is normally packed with people and noisy... Amazed when I got there! The bar was practically empty! Oh how nice it was for the six (!) guests on the terrace to enjoy a drink and the view of the Royal Palace!
