Atmospheric, interesting, part pub part shop. Was glad they told me their reluctance to accept cash was due to C19 rather than the awful modern idea of a cashless society. As regards my special interest, Sandford Orchards Devon Scrumpy (6%) is an archetype of peoples idea of a Devon cider: dark yellow and cloudy. It would be nice to also have a clear, sharper tasting one from a different Devon producer: Winkleigh Sams dry would do for me.

A traditional cider bar selling mainly Cider, Perry, Fruit Wine & Mead. The building itself dates back to circa 1744, and affiliated with the sale of cider since the 1900's, a visit to Ye Olde Cider Bar is a step back in time. An historic landmark of Newton Abbot and popular with locals as well as visitors from the UK and across the world. We stock a fantastic array of around 30 ciders, sourced from local & independent cider producers, as well as some well known favourites from Thatchers and Westons. With a great choice on offer, there is sure to be a cider to suit everyone! We also offer over 30 fruit wines & meads. Delicious by themselves or very popular as a cooler! Our cider cocktails are a big hit! For non-cider/wine drinkers we have a local lager and some spirits. If you find your favourite - we also offer cider and wine to 'take-away'! Bar snacks - Cheese and Ham Rolls - Hot Pies and Pasties - Pork pies - Off sales
My partner and I are touring pubs in the heritage pub guide. We were told about the cider bar by friendly strangers in the Luppitt Inn near Honiton last year. We booked a table through Facebook and arrived at 7:45. The pub is very spacious and has an old time feel. There is a lovely bar area with hanging glasses and large barrels. We spent a couple of hours here on a Tuesday drinking specialist ciders and fruit wines. The lady working behind the bar was an absolute gem and made some great recommendations. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely return.

Friendly local pub located at the heart of this busy market town. Established for over 150 years, this traditional pub retains its original layout with a busy saloon bar room and a comfortable snug where food is served daily. There is also a large beer garden which proves to be a real suntrap and very popular on lazy summer evenings when barbeques and live music are a regular attraction. Open 10 am till midnight every day. Live sport shown on three screens including the beer garden. Darts, pool table and euchre played. Juke box and free wifi available.
We visited this pub on our last night of a 10 day holiday nearby. Definitely friendly. My partner loved the Proper Job and I enjoyed the cider. THe atmosphere was great and reasonably priced will definitely visit again We co.bined with the weatherspoons up the road and had a great night.

Full credit to the staff, doing a Stirling job. Must sanitise, must sign in. The door staff were literally attempting to herd sheep as the generation of 18-30 evidently have no intention of adhering to social distancing rules or measures. Hugging, kisssing, larking around, swapping tables, passing drinks.... shouting, the list was endless. The Farmer have done their utmost to make this work... all tables clearly marked with only 6 per table, chairs screwed down so no one can move them. They truly have tried hard, much harder than many other establishments. But.... despite their efforts and that of the amazing door staff, the 18-30 have clearly not realised, accepted or cared that we are still in the middle of a pandemic. So if we get another lockdown.... you can simply blame the 18-30's - shame. We wont be back any time soon, not because we dont love this pub, we do... but I am a bit worried that I will catch covid! Hats off to the staff at the Jolly Farmer, including your amazing door staff. You really do deserve a medal

We prebooked which is advisable. We all had a mixed roast which consisted of all the meats. When it arrived it was a massive plateful lots of meat and plenty of various veg. Even the small portion had plenty of everything. It was fantastic value. We were so full we couldn't manage dessert. It's the best roast, all homemade for miles.
