Fort Lauderdale’s canals and charm have earned it the nickname “The Venice of America.” The beaches offer 23 miles of golden sand, lively with the spirited antics of happy vacationers. Sail the blue-green waters on a chartered catamaran, or dive beneath the surface to meet-and-greet the local sea life. Shopping and dining al fresco on Las Olas Boulevard is one of Fort Lauderdale’s greatest pleasures, thanks to adorable shops and prime people-watching.

How had I never discovered this place. If Cheers were a gay bar, this place would be it. Yes, it's a local hangout, but as a tourist, I was welcomed with no problem. Cheap drinks, funky decor, and friendly locals. Was easy to strike up a conversation while enjoying very reasonably priced draft beer. Tommy the bartender was attentive and engaging. Great sense of humor. Spent a few hours here between 6 pm and 8 pm. I'll definitely return. Like Planet Fitness, it's a judgment free zone which is so refreshing given the attitude that is thrown around lots of Fort Lauderdale bars.
