July 27, 2021 Chanda Heide

Laissez les bons temps rouler! In New Orleans the good times are perpetually rolling down Bourbon Street, which, thanks to the city’s annual Mardi Gras celebration, has quite a party animal reputation. Once you’ve soaked up the scenery of the historic French Quarter, tour the elegant Garden District and meet the colorful characters of Frenchmen Street. Experience the city's supernatural vibe at the Voodoo Museum or by taking a guided ghost or vampire tour through taverns, alleyways, and cemeteries.

Bayou Bar

The Bayou Bar, where the New Orleans Saints football franchise was christened in 1966, offers a casual tavern-style ambiance, warmed by exposed wood and the original Charles Reinike mural. Once a drinking den for both Sinatra and Capote, the Bayou Bar features an extensive whiskey list, complemented by a menu of contemporary American bar fare. Join us on Wednesdays for our all-day happy hour (a Happy Day!) celebrating our love of whiskey.

Was staying at a nearby hotel, walked by this place and decided to try it. The bartenders are whiskey/bourbon savvy and the place is stocked with some really great selections. All the BTAC is there as well as some other really hard to find stuff. Even better was the food! We ordered sticky beef tips and boudin chimichangas which were both delicious. We will definitely be stopping back. And the piano player was great.

We came for lunch. My husband had the Irish Channel Stout which he enjoyed and I had a blonde ale which I enjoyed as well. But, the most memorable part of the trip was that brisket sandwich. Oh My Gosh! It had that caramelized outside, almost burnt, but it added so much flavor. Don't bother with anything else, just get the brisket sandwich and a beverage of your choice and you will be set.

Went here on a recommendation from our fabulous butler at Audubon Cottages..Maria. Off the beaten path and out of the quarter is this awesome brewery. Huge warehouse space with tons of seating. Kid and dog friendly. They do not serve food but have pop ups. Crawfish boil pop up starts at 12:00 and is amazing. Delicious crawfish! Other food trucks/vendors arrive later in the day...2-2:30. Bartenders very attentive and quick! So glad to have visited this cool place and look forward to going back.
