Reviews on Barbecue food in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. The home of swing and bebop for some, "The City of Fountains" to others, Kansas City is different things to different people. Music enthusiasts are drawn to the jazz clubs and old haunts of famous musicians such as Charlie Parker and Count Basie. With more fountains than Rome, there is ample opportunity for scenic strolling from fountain to fountain. Stop along the way to discover interesting neighborhoods and browse through eclectic shops. Families are particularly attracted to the city because of its child-friendly events and venues. Science City features hands-on exhibits including a mock television studio where kids can deliver a weather forecast, while the Zoo houses impressive African and Australian exhibits plus an IMAX Theater. The city's museums cover everything from the history of jazz music to a celebration of African American baseball players. Once a trading post for pioneers heading to the Western United States, today Kansas City is a burgeoning metropolis with activities and attractions for visitors of all ages and interests.

Ate here 2 years ago, that time it poured too. Clean and bright with friendly servers. Very good food and large portions. Dining room is quieter than front room. Place is sprinkler protected and has additional exits but they are partially obscured by fixtures and decorations and not visible from remote corners.

The food is stunning. Smoked chicken salad on wheat was a fabulous change from beef& pork on the BBQ tour. BUT if you had a kid you'd like to infect with Love ofTrains, come here! HUGE active train yard runs right behind building-WITH A FENCED IN area with picnic tables outside. A train about every 10 minutes SHOOK the ground about a minute before passing by. Christmas setup come to life!

Came here on the recommendation of the b&b owners we were staying with. Visited the blues museum and negro baseball hall of fame which was right around the corner practically. BBQ was very good. We had the burnt ends there in the restaurant and the pulled pork sandwich we took to the Chiefs game that nite. Great tasting sauce, tender meat. Needless to say when you go to his place your there for the food not the ambience. The interior is stark, just basic tables to sit, eat your food and leave. The BBQ here is the real deal.

County Road Ice House is in a block full of restaurants and bars in KCâs Power & Light District. We ate dinner there on a night when there was a concert at the neighboring Sprint Center. It was busy and noisy until just before the concert started, when it seemed like everybody got up and left. So we were able to continue our meal in relative peace and quiet! Husband got ribs and one meat (brisket, but somewhat too lean) with toast and pickles and Mexican corn, and I got the house salad, which was quite good. The barbecue is from Joeâs in Kansas City, Kansas, and was very tasty.

A unique Kansas City experience, BB's Lawnside BBQ has been the place where BBQ Meets the Blues for more than 20 years.
A party of 6 of us were there Friday night. Great service, decent food. Burnt ends were good, coleslaw was bad. Drinks were good. Very affordable. Band was great! We'll be back.

THE HOUSE OF MEAT For a century, Kansas City has perfected its version of "low and slow" and we pay homage to the many great pit masters who have gone before us. Charring, smoking and grilling with wood have been an age-old universal method for both suste
I live in the land of BBQ and I will provide the caveat that I don't eat mammals, so pork and beef are not consumed by me. The wonderful thing about this particular bbq joint is that they have tons of poultry and even vegetarian options as well as the more standard fare. My husband and son have both had their other meats and enjoyed them a lot too.My company had a holiday party here and one of the items was their jackfruit, it was pretty amazing. Their appetizers are great too. All their meat-free items have a silly skull and cross-bones symbol next to them, which makes me laugh a bit every time we go. I enjoy the cheesy hushpuppies and their cornbread is really good. For meats they offer burnt ends, crispy pork belly, pulled pork butt, hand-cranked sausage, turkey breast, smoked pit ham, black angus brisket and smoked vegan jackfruit (which admittedly isn't a meat). They have sandwiches and meat trays. Their sides are really good too, they have beans, potato salad, cabbage slaw, kale-pecorino slaw, bacon-broccoli slaw, fries, mac & cheese, and more. They have a great outdoors area in their beer garden with a bar, and fun games, like croquet, and cornhole. Dinner is open till 10 or 11 each day, but the bar is open later, till midnight on Sunday - Wednesday and till 1:30 am on Thursday - Saturday.I highly recommend this place, every time we've eaten here has been amazing.

My wife and I split a 3 sampler and it was absolutely perfect! Our waitress was prompt, kind, and helpful. Not only did we have a great time and a great meal, looking around the restaurant, everyone else seemed to be doing the same. I highly recommend Jack Stack Barbecue even with the long wait times to get a seat. Thanks for the review!

Was recommended by a local. We went for early dinner at 430 and was told the wait would be 45 minutes. The wait was actually 15 minutes. We had the burnt ends; melted in your mouth, lamb ribs; a little gamey but full of flavor, brisket; was ok, half chicken; my favorite part of the meal. Service was exceptional! Thank you for the review! We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you back soon!
