We went to Cooks Tavern after an event for a late night supper. Got there about 9:30. The Happy Hour menu, like most places, is limited, which was fine. But the service was really slow and inattentive and the food was average at best. My husband had a grilled cheese sandwich which was mostly thick slices of bread. Cheese was limited. I had the Shift Meal - pasta was gluey and stuck to itself. It came with a slice of bread and asked 4 times for butter and never got it. How many times do you need to ask for butter? Staff seemed tired and overworked - there were still several customers and not enough wait or kitchen staff. Staff was mainly interested in eating their own meals. With choices now in Tacoma for going somewhere else, I would look further. Restaurants along Ruston are open, as is the new McMenamins downtown, Primo Grill, and the new Cactus on Proctor. Go there.

We were pleased with food and drink selections. Our food was prepared rather quickly and tasted great. The waitperson we had (Kristin) was one of the best we've had as far as knowledge of the menu, responsiveness and courtesy.Would highly recommend!

Close to the U of Puget Sound campus, Red Hot is a fun place to stop in for a beer and hot dog -- and to try all their amazing varieties of both.It has a comfortable tavern feel -- the many booths are cozy. The vegan and veggie options make it great for selective eaters. We enjoyed the Tacoma Dog, North End Dog, and the Hound Dog (yes, peanut butter and bacon!).

If you want great food and variety- this is the place. It definitely gives a "hole- in- the- wall" feel, but it is one of my favorites. I love their nachos and their Taco Thursday deals are great. My vegetarian friends rave about the Buddha wrap and go just for that! Oh, and I almost forgot about their awesome brunch! The only downside is its often difficult to find a place to sit, especially when it is their taco night.

In the Hotel Murano located on the 4th floor.
Wonderful meal and great service. We had salmon and filet mignon and they were both fabulous. The sides were great - we especially loved the creative spinach, fingerling, butternut and craisin side which sound strange but was amazing. Michael was out server and he was excellent. Really great meal!

Recently went on a Friday night for happy hour before seeing a concert at the Tacoma Dome. Definitely get there early because they get busy real fast, especially on the weekends. Happy hour menu has good variety of food but no drink specials. I had the blood orange margarita, very tasty and made strong. Nachos, black bean queso, guacamole, street tacos and the jalapeño poppers were amazing!

This restaurant is next to the courtyard Marriott so a great location if you are staying there. I wanted to venture to Wooden City, but this was just so convenient. I sat at the bar, good service. They do add a 20% gratuity - yes even if you are alone - but itâs very clear on the receipt. They have extended Happy Hour hours. The food was good - especially if you are paying HH prices. I thought the wine pours were generous. I had a Caesar salad (too much cheese and dressing) and a flatbread.

Based on a recommendation from a mutual friend, we tried this restaurant. It was also reviewed in Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. The food was excellent. I had the Twisted Reuben and it was delicious. They do offer gluten free buns for $2.00 more. There is no parking lot, so finding a spot on the street can be a little tricky. There are plenty of side streets nearby to park on.

The food here is somewhat disappointing given the location. Fish & chips were over-priced, fries were below average, soft drink was an off-brand instead of coke or pepsi, and the service while pleasant, was a little slow considering the place was half empty. Not sure why I had to wait 15 minutes for a table in a room that was not even half full..There are much nicer places to eat within walking distance of Dukes and the prices are similar for what is a much better experience.
