A beautiful Pub with fantastic food and friendly locals. This was our first visit to our local since moving to the area and unfortunately our last as the Landlady had a terrible attitude towards my wife in front of all the guests, and then proceeded to bad mouth her in the kitchen which we could clearly hear. A terrible shame !!!!

As this little pub is in our village I thought I would write another review now that it is under new management.Wonderful carvery, good value wholesome food. Lisa,(previously the chef) offers a friendly warm welcome to everyone, making you feel comfortable and at home.We are so lucky to have this little gem in our village. It is well worth a visit. Give it a try, you will be pleasantly surprised.

The Bull Inn did a fish night tonight. Two fish and chips for £12 plus a drink each. It was absolutely brilliant. It was only advertised on Facebook, they should have done more advertising, maybe a board outide the pub so people knew about it. It was a real feast, excellent chips and fish fried to perfection. Sempra, the new chef is brilliant.

Bentleys Bar and Grill - By day a relaxed and sophisticated environment for you and your family to enjoy our dining experience, and by night a vibrant venue for evenings out. Our food service times are listed above. The bar is open until 12.30am on Thursd
I have never been to this place and still remember it as the bass house. Now that was scary and run down! The first impressions were impressive. It looks the business. However there are a few noticeable problems that can be fixed. Firstly the table is wobbly as hell. To the point you could get sea sick if you ordered a soup. Literally an easy fix. I donât want to be too tough on the staff as it was a busy Sunday and we were walk ins, but the set up seems weird. Itâs Carvery, yet you canât order Carvery until you have ordered drinks and they have been delivered. Then you get told you can go up and they hand you your plate of meat. This added about 25 minutes to something that could have been seamless as a token or plate system.Likewise the Carvery felt a bit condensed. Everything spot on (stuffing a bit meh but rest great) however itâs on the edge of a step and we saw someone topple over getting gravy. Looking at other reviews this is common. Maybe just lay things out differently.Another good tip for those who do it...mix the meats. I ordered just beef and got one large piece. Everyone else asked for a mix of beef and gammon...and got the same amount of beef as me but gammon on top! I did win at dessert as their sticky toffee was impressive.I will return and I did enjoy things, however there were a few little niggles to stop me giving higher. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review for us. We are happy to hear that you think our food is excellent and that you were impressed with the venueâs décor. We certainly have changed somewhat since the Bass House days (thankfully)!Following your comments we will be checking all the tables for wobbly legs and remedying any that are not stable. We havenât until now been made aware of any problems of this nature so thank you for letting us know. Our Sunday carvery is a very popular choice in the town and it is not uncommon for walk-ins to be turned away due to pre-booked tables so I apologise if you had to wait longer than you expected to, however from our experience, some diners get pretty annoyed when they see people arriving later than them, getting served earlier so we endeavour to call people up in the order they are booked in. Regarding the carvery location in the restaurant we are a listed building so we are unable to make structural changes to the venue. We do appreciate the step isnât ideal, but again it is part of the venueâs structure. The meat portions are of course a little variable due to whereabouts in the joint we are carving but we try to be fair with everyone. We have a policy that if you ask for an extra slice, we will always give it. Thank you for letting us know that overall you had a positive experience and that you would visit us again. Best regards, Melanie Biggadike

Country Inn alongside the River Glen, with a warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere. Roaring fires, four real ales and fantastic locally sourced freshly made food. We serve food Tuesday - Saturday 12pm-2pm and 6pm-9pm. Sundays is a set Sunday Menu served 12p
Haven't been here for 6 years since when it had closed and now reopened after a refurbishment inside with the gardens outside very picturesque. Tables alongside riverbank with flower pots make it look very welcoming. Outside the dining room are tables on decking surrounded by lovely flowers. Lot of time and effort has been put in to make it a welcoming sight both inside and outside.Sunday lunch exceeded expectations- Huge- yes Huge portions which with an elderly relative with us rather put him off eating. He did a good job and we later found out we could have asked for smaller portions. The Beef was however tough but the Turkey was pronounced excellent. Great selection of well cooked vegetables although two Yorkshire puddings were very hard- overcooked or recycled/reheated from another time. Desserts were very good but very large. If you have an enormous appetite then this is a place to go.For a Sunday lunch it was less than half full.

A friendly family run business located in the heart of the Village
Itâs like stepping back in time going into this pub, lots of settees in an olde worlde setting. The dinning room is just off the bar with a variety of tables, all nicely set.Sunday lunch there is a choice of beef, lamb or pork. All come with a great variety of vegetables (we counted 12 different ones) .The meat is served with a giant Yorkshire puddings and lots of spare gravy..Service is great and both the landlady and the waitresses very friendly.

They do smaller lunch time meals which we love. There also a good choice of standard size meals. good prices and a wonderful setting. A decking provides outside eating or drinking with or without a river view. inside is cosy and all staff are helpful, the beer is kept well. meals are cooked fresh so not instant service. parking is along the road as there is no carpark. the river is very calming to sit and enjoy lunch and a chat. no music which suits us.Evening and sunday lunches you would be advised to book.Thank you for your great feedback just to point out we do have a car park to the side of the pub which holds 3 car parking spaces.

The Black Horse is under new management since our last visit. We booked for Sunday lunch and as a Coeliac who doesn't eat meat I was sceptical. But the staff are absolutely brilliant and so friendly and my dietary requirements were understood and well catered for. Our starters of smoked salmon with melon was light, full of flavour and beautifully delicate. My sea bass, stuffed with almonds, spinach and apricots, was delicious and the other members of our party really enjoyed their roast meats. All served with a selection of vegetables and a cauliflower cheese that I wasn't able to eat - but I had my own dish of broccoli in a delicious buttery sauce.Too full for dessert we opted for coffee and it was served with a fabulous selection of little petit fours served on a black horseshoe. The service is amazing, nothing is too much trouble and, with such a friendly atmosphere, we're already looking to return.Thank you for your lovely review.
