Started coming here after a wonderful first visit at the beginning of the summer. The staff are truly incredible and we came here to see them more than anything but were again impressed by the food today. Roast beef just perfect, service excellent. Nothing too much trouble, young waitress fetched colouring books for the children and put the cricket on for us too. Feels like visiting family coming here as opposed to most places which are often stressful on a Sunday. We've been told it gets busier in the colder months, we'll still be visiting whenever in the area as this delightful place is so friendly and comfortable. Great pub & have been here hundreds of times. Still good food and service, however, they really need to re-think their policy on having dogs in the pub or garden out the back........... from a hygiene perspecitve, you really don't want to see dogs sitting on seats at tables where people are eating, not do you want your handbag being licked all over by a dog - nor their barking every five mins! Come on guys, this is a place to eat & drink - why do people have to bring their dogs to pubs and why do you allow them??

Staying in Twickenham for a few days we looked at menus for all the pubs on the riverfront at Richmond, and strolled down Old Palace Lane when we saw the sign for The White Swan from the towpath. Really glad we did. The menu was far more inventive than others we'd seen, and maybe because it's not smack on the river, seemed better value.The Thai salad starter is very tasty. Prawns in filo more standard. Both mains - chicken and bacon pie and roasted chicken with wild mushrooms and cavolo nero were excellent. So much so we decided we'd return next evening and try a dessert - and the evening after when our daughter joined us. Excellent food throughout (except the beautifully cooked cod loin should have crispy skin if it's left on the fish). The tonka bean and orange panna cotta with crispy brandy snap is brilliant. Wines were excellent quality at a reasonable price. The Papa Figos Portuguese red particularly.Best of all is the front of house service. Just the right tone of friendliness and engagement.

First impression from outside is that this is just another back street pub, located next to Tedding railway station. When I made my reservation, I was told that only downstairs tables were available; significant only because I later found that the upstairs is slightly nicer than the downstairs. Not a problem. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Quick service with a smile. Very clean pub, light and airy. So before the food arrived I was ready to ready to rate this place 3/5. Then the food arrived, and my rating went from 3/5 to 5/5.They served probably the nicest Sunday roast I have ever seen. Generous portions of top quality food, expertly cooked, beautifully presented. Just delicious. I've not been a fan of creamed cabbage before, but now I am if it's how they serve it. Parsnips superb - delicious coating. If my life depended on finding something negative to say about the meal, the best I could do is suggest that the gravy could be slightly thicker, but even that is so subjective as to not really count. Prices vary slightly with the meat chosen (lamb, beef, chicken, pork), but all are under £15 per plate at time of writing. Great value. If your entire party want the same meat, you could choose their Sunday Roast Sharing Board, which makes sense for 3 people. A good range of desserts is offered, although none were diabetic friendly otherwise I might have had one. This is a complaint I will be using more often often on TA, because desserts for diabetics are rare but no more difficult that mains for vegetarians. I did have a coffee though and that was excellent. Summary: Well above average food for average prices. The Railway is a Great British gem.Footnote: Thanks to previous TripAdvisor reviewers for rating this to catch my attention.

Stopped over for lunch meeting, the staff were excellent and polite. The tapas? One never arrived, the calamari was so thinly sliced that couldn't be tasted. The rest were just ok. The deserts were also ok but small in portions. The location is excellent for parking and close to other shops, station and restaurants. On a warm sunny day, the open windows were a bonus. It's not a place I would rush to but then again for a quick lunch it's not bad.

We returned to dine here again early evening after the England vs Ireland pre-RWC game at Twickenham. We frequent this establishment and their sister establishment (three horse shoes) on a regular basis.We have eaten in these pubs,too many times to remember.The reason we always frequent these pubs, is the ambience, the alcohol, but most of all the food.So... when we attended tonight, we both chose from the specials menus, as we quite often do.I had the sword fish and my partner had the grilled mackerel.The food was...as good as you could ever wish to taste in any restaurant...anywhere.Just when you thought it couldnât get any better! Loved our dinner here. Friendly service, lovely atmosphere and a brilliant meal. Salted caramelTart at the end was probably the star of the show but the Hake was also excellent. Crab Soufflé needed something more, but tiny things and overall this is a great find and to will be coming back

Visited here last night with some work friends and we all had a simply wonderful meal and dining out experience. The service was excellent, the food was awesome, atmosphere was perfect and there was a great craft beer selection to choose from as well as some lovely wines. Thereâs not much else I can add other than go here, itâs perfect!
