Expensive food, We were charged more than the locals, over $45 Canadian for 2 orders of tacos and 4 (warm) beer. The waiter asked us for more of a tip as well. We are here a month but will not come back here.Anywhere else on the malecon is 1/2 the price!!

SeaFood Restaurant with Services on the beach or Indoor in the Palapa. We have Beers, Cheladas, Micheladas, Tequila, Margaritas, Snacks, Hamburguers, Nachos, etc.
First the staff. Manuel, Jose, German and William. Top notch guys. Always willing to do anything to make you happy. The food. Not 5 star but freshly made, tasty, and reasonably priced. Cold beer and free tequila shots and the best part? The beach. Do yourself a favor and drop in and say Hola.

Went for lunch today. Nice decor, friendly staff, extensive bar and exhaustive menu. The botanas came with a very different salsa. Both the mojitos and margaritas were perfect. We ordered three dishes - Caribbean ceviche, fish and chips and tacos Holbox. There quite good! The coconut shrimp were small and butterflied, as well as overcooked. That was our only disappointment. They have vegan choices as well.

El Bullpen is a wonderful restaurant run by Martin and Jill, who also help the community by hosting various events. They have an extensive menu, which includes fresh seafood but also chicken and beef options. My husband and I have tried most of the menu and although we have favorites we've never had a meal that wasn't delicious. Where the kitchen shines is in their daily specials, most notably their Friday night lobster tail (unfortunately we were so thrilled with our meal I only took a photo after eating most of it!) Our friends who've visited Chelem always ask when are we heading to Bullpen? Drinks and live music on some nights only add to our enjoyment when visiting El Bullpen.

We were on a cruise that stopped in Progreso and a member of the group we were traveling with knows the owner. She passed out flyers and eventually most of us ended up at La Genuina. It was such a fun place. The owner and his wife were very attentive making sure that the drinks and chips and salsa were refreshed regularly. The waiter, Danny, AKA Red, was a hoot and added to the fun atmosphere, as well as providing excellent service. Several people in the group ordered fish and chips and said that it was excellent. We will definitely visit La Genuina again the next time we are in Progreso.

It was noon on the beach and it was busy. The sun was beating down. We were hot and thirsty. So we needed margaritas. This place was perfect: literally across the street from the beach but shady, comfortable, a little unusual. They played a great selection of music in the background, the breeze was just right under the shade canopy and the chips and queso were free. If you only visit one open air restroom in your life, visit this one: clean and pleasant - but, wait! no roof! We only had drinks and snacks, but it was just what we needed: easy on the budget, no hassle, peaceful atmosphere and fun. It must be magical at night when they light up all the eclectic decor!

Geezer is what we are!! Heard about this place, basically because of the Wednesday afternoon Jam Sessions - local and ex-pat musicians - all VERY GOOD. Lots of fun, dancing and drinks. We were leaving Progreso just as the "season" was starting (early January) and the last Wednesday session we attended in early January was packed. If you don't reserve you don't get in.We also ate here a few times and enjoyed the food. This is primarily a place where you will find older, gringo tourists and ex-pats. But they are friendly and make the place really enjoyable. The staff speak English but are also tolerant of our poor Spanish. Service was friendly and efficient.

This is seemingly the centre of gravity for canadian expats & long term visitors. Supposedly they outnumber the yanks on a 5-1 ratio in the town. It can get rowdy as the evening wears on. Indoor and outdoor seating. Reasonable menu and prices. Food cane quickly. 2-$5 margaritas on thurs. Specials every night. Attentive waiters. A free lending library... in a nutshell it is a beach town eatery. Nothing exceptional.

We had seafood ceviche- combination of shrimp and octopus ceviche which was excellent. Love the location, we were able to enjoy the beach scene while under roof with occasional beach breeze blowing. The staff is excellent and they are all very attentive. Thank you very much for your excellent comments, I am pleased to know that your visit was as expected and that both the food and the service were to your liking.I hope you visit us very soon to continue serving you as you deserve.
