The Herdwick Inn is the only so named pub in The Lake District: an area synonymous with the rugged and sturdy Herdwick Sheep. Located in the small, friendly village of Penruddock, the pub is situated just off the A66 between the Ancient Market town of Pen
The pub looks great and lives up to its name. The herdwick sheep breed is a hardy honest producer. This pub is exactly that. The Sunday Lunch was a very nicely presented turkey roast, with vegetables cooked perfectly and served in a side dish. The plates were hot! Dessert was right up there for all of us and the local ales washed it all down. A great pub in a peaceful village right on the Lakes Districts doorstep.

We went spontaneous for a lunch break as a Group of 6,could sit outside in the garden with lovely view of the Lake. Food Was brought outside, freshly homemade classics, Steak ale pie, fish Finger Sandwiches for the kids and Macn cheese. Also they have their own mikro brewery, so we got to Taste a few IPA and bitter and blonde. Staff Was very helpful and friendly. And our dog was welcome.

Early Sunday afternoon lunch, phenomenal staff along with the cheese soufflé and roast beef. Young staff members attentive and helpful as was the gentleman behind the bar. Only odd thing was having one taking orders quite slow, but generally everything was fantastic.

Recommended by the staff at Travelodge. Fabulous food at this small country pub/restaurant. Friendly staff, good quality food, very generous helpings & very reasonable prices. Ate there twice and would highly recommend.
found this little pub near where we were staying and it was definitely a gem! Excellent food, large portions and service was excellent too. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area, very reasonably priced too. Only piece of feedback, we discovered after we had eaten, that you could get half portions and some of our table would have preferred that so maybe be a good idea to advertise it, we didn't see it anywhere. That said, it was excellent! Well done, if in the area, would definitely be back

A stunning property situated in a fantastic location on the bank of the River Eamont, with 17 fabulous guest bedrooms, spectacular outdoor terrace with views over the Lakeland, and fabulous bar and restaurant. Our menu is prepared using the best local ing
This is a great location and wonderfully refurbished hotel/pub. There was a mix up with Thwaites website where we booked a family room but we got a normal double room. The manager was very helpful and resolved the issue effectively. The room and bathroom were very smart and we enjoyed an evening meal. All the staff were great. The breakfast could have been a little hotter. Will definitely stay again!

six of us went for our monthly meal. The pub has been resently reopened and the dining room is really nice. I was a bit dubious about going as it was a dog friendly pub but there was only an odd one about and not in the dining room. We all had different meals and sweets and enjoyed. Prices were reasonable. Staff serving us were pleasant.

The Inn was converted from a row of cottages in the 1700s by the original proprietor Edward Richardson. Since then the Inn has changed hands several times, and was taken over in May 2010 by John & Jane McGuire. The Sun is a family run establishment. Sunny
Probably the most traditional of the three pubs/inns in Pooley Bridge. A little more understated than the rest, but the home cooked wholesome British pub food is of excellent quality and value.Think home made pie, Cumberland sausage and fish & chips, perfect after a long walk.Decent beer. Dog friendly, massive beer garden, clean and comfortable bedrooms, whatâs not too like!
