Visited here having done a huge walk along Chiltern Way and along the Thames towpath. A very local/traditional style pub with a great garden which is beautifully maintained. A good variety on the menu and very reasonably priced food (drinks were rather pricey especially soft drinks for our driver). The burger was delicious as was the steak which cut like butter, good sized portions too. The staff are lovely, polite, helpful and know the menu very well. Slightly long wait time but that does suggest that every meal is cooked from scratch.

The menu was limited but it was good quality well priced fare. We had soup to start with beer battered fish and chips to follow both were excellent.

The Highwayman Inn is located in a beautiful hamlet near Checkendon, on the Berkshire, Oxfordshire border, only an hour from London and 20 minutes from Reading and Henley on Thames. The pub dates back to the 16th century and still retains some of its orig
Sunday lunch was excellent. The lamb was delicious and very tender, the Yorkshire puddings crispy and very tasty indeed. The gravy really made the meal as well as the excellent desserts. Having eaten dinner here the lunch was equally as good. Good atmosphere and really friendly, helpful staff.

Jesse outdid himself once again. The whole pub celebrated the Chinese New Year with style. The atmosphere was crackling, the food was abundant and outstanding (as per usual) and the care Jesse showed every individual table was incredible. A fantastic evening as always!

Visited here for a traditional Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. Food clearly fresh and good size portions. Staff were very polite and helpful, close to the Thames and the Whitchurch Toll Bridge (currently 60p and they donât give change!!)

Warm friendly and welcoming, it has a restaurant that serves good traditional pub grub that is well presented, served up by very friendly staff. We have eaten in the restaurant before but on this occasion we ordered six fish and chip take away suppers as we were visiting by boat.We pre ordered the food and it was ready on time as arranged. Without exception, everybody said that it was probably the best fish and chips they had eaten !!We will definitely visit again.

Newly refurbished in October 2017 to restore The Greyhound to the heart of the village. A great place to eat in #Tidmarsh near #Reading. A proper #pub & kitchen in the #village! #Berkshire #BringingThePubBack
Parking is limited at this junction-at-junction but there are space at the village hall car park about 50 meters down the roadThere is every attempt to make guests feel comfortable but the menu covers general tastes and not enough optiosn for alternatives, whcih a pub of this style as the aptitude to go for

Arrived to find car park full, only space for about 10 cars so had to park in station car park. alright as long as it isn't raining. Must book a table at weekends as it's so busy. There were 10 of us in the party and we had to pre-order our starter and main course a week before. Bearing this in mind the service was aweful. We waited over 40 minutes for our starters. One of our party wasn't served and when the waitress asked in the kitchen, was told they had run out but that was at least 20 mintes after we had been served. The point being we had pre-ordered!! Our main course took another hour. I ordered Dover Sole but it was not cooked properly, the underside was definitely not shown the grill. There were mixed comments about other meals. Duck cooked perfectly, potatoes undercooked.Dear Ros, Thank you for leaving a review. I am so sorry to hear of your sub-par experience. As a business, this is not the standard that we hold ourselves to. I would like to understand more about your time with us.If you would be so kind as to give me a call on 01189844494, I would greatly appreciate discussing your reservation and hopefully arrange a possible return in the future. Kind Regards, Sophie Lucas

Nestling in the small idyllic village of Whitchurch-on-Thames, and just a few yards from the Toll Bridge, is The Ferryboat. A beautiful 18th century country bar and restaurant thatâs packed with atmosphere. With an established reputation for serving fine
Visited whilst staying in Pangbourne. A short walk over the toll bridge passing the meadows and boat embarkation point and the lock. Across the road is the Church in Whitchurch. Arriving as the football was starting we were easily able to get a table. Service friendly and capable, sadly some of the specials had finished but plenty of choice. Lovely presentation of our meal and wine as not driving, there is a car park available. Very relaxed and good value.
