Award winning food set in a place to relax, step back & be steeped in history. The Church House Inn, Churchstow, a 13th Century pub, built as a rest house for Bendictine Monks from Buckfast Abbey it has been a hostelry of one kind or another all of its li
We went for curry night and the food was excellent. Three curries and rice and a samosa all for £14 and really delicious and well presented. Friendly pub that does not rely on it's location to attract customers. Came her back in March and the food was really good then.

Beautiful old mill nestling in six acres of gardens with its own lake and river. Open all day serving traditional English pub and restaurant food in a relaxed atmosphere. Huge gardens make summer eating outside a pleasure. Freedom for children too!
Had a pleasant evening at Turtley Corn Mill. It was busy for a Tuesday in September. I have been trying to avoid beef to keep my carbon footprint low but couldn't resist the beef bourguignon. It didn't disappoint -very comforting. My companion enjoyed his cod. The radishes as a starter were good, I've had better hummus. The best ice cream flavour of the 3 we tried was the rum and raisin - yum. Unfortunately it was cool and dark when we visited so we didn't get to experience the grounds or the birds.Thank you for letting us know that you enjoyed your meal. Happily Turtley is always busy but by having lots of interesting areas to eat in and by being being open all day itâs always very relaxed. I hope that on another visit you are able to explore our extensive ground and the resident wildlife as Iâm sure youâll enjoy them too.We look forward to welcoming you back.Bruce.

We've eaten here a few times now and on each occasion the food has been good. The staff are friendly, not the fastest service but who cares when you're in for the night! We've met up with friends and had a good night out every time here. This will be our local go-to from now on.

Called in for supper after a day out visiting Tavistock and Dartmoor. Lovely staff and owners, very welcoming and friendly. We ordered fish and chips and it was fabulous, well cooked and delicious The bonus of being there on a Thursday was it was 2 for £20, incredible value. Felt like stepping back in time, lovely pub where you could hear a conversation without the loud music, friendly and welcoming atmosphere and good food. We will be back.

Went walking down to Ayrmer Cove from NT car park, blissfully empty beach! Walked back via circular route, stopped for lunch at this 13th century inn. Food, home cooked and delicious, service well timed with good portions for us adults and children. Prices reasonable for mains, £7 for pudding but once again home cooked. I would recommend eating here wholeheartedly.

My wife and me were on our way through the South Hams in Devon, and Modbury, a small town on the A379, Plymouth to Totnes road, demands the respect of a short stop for lunch. We were charmed by the frontages of the various building which make up Church Street, and chose the Exeter Inn to take a drink. This historical inn has a rich history, strongly associated with the English civil war when two battles in 1642 and 1643 were fought nearby, the Royalists winning the first, and then being driven out of Modbury back into Cornwall by the Parliamentarians (Roundheads) in the second. This inn was the meeting place for both sides, probably becuase it serves such good ales and food. The Dartmoor-brewed Jail Ale was beautifully kept, and my wife enjoyed her ubiqitous Savignon Blanc, served by the delightful Phoebe. We both felt it deserved a longer visit, but time was pressing and we chose to leave to purchase some filled rolls which were recommended across the road in the delicatessen, but that was shut so we returned to the towns car park, alongside of which was the Lazy Cow!

If you ask for the gluten free option then you will get whatever the normal option is with gluten containing items removed so the roast consisted of boiled potatoes, thinly sliced meat, vegetables and gravy - no roast potatoes, no sausage, no stuffing. Come on - it is really easy to keep gluten free sausages in the freezer and what is wrong with peeling potatoes and roasting them. Poor show for the price.

This pub with rooms offers a beautiful beer garden, free wifi, free papers & a friendly atmosphere for everyone. We are dog friendly and welcome families - under 7's eat free! We offer very reasonably priced B&B, food and drinks; with well kept local ales
I visited with my partner on a Friday evening. Food is served up until 8.30 pm. We didn't wait long after ordering. The food was fresh and delicious. The pub was welcoming and has a curry special saver menu including a drink on a Friday. The portion size was generous too.

Traditional pub and restaurant with hotel accommodation and function room, pool table, big screen TV.
I vowed not to return but my other half was wanting Sunday Lunch and we were back in the area so thought we would give the White Hart another chance. No chicken - sorry itâs all gone - so lamb and gammon it was - food today was really not that fantastic but filled a gap - as we were waiting for our fodder - the lads came in to watch the rugby on the big screen - killed lunch dead for us. Didnât stay for dessert - we had had enough - my other half has a slight fear of pubs and sporting stuff - but we were only on for a single quick lunch so made our way back to our holiday flat. Whilst we were in the car park we bumped into a gent who advised that he had heard that the current tenants are selling up - Phew !!!!Hopefully the place will recover to its former glory with new charges behind the bar and on the kitchen - lets give it a few months for the changeover and see what happens !!! 'The gent advised you that he'd heard' oh dear!! Well watch and wait. I find it strange how ever time we get a 'bad review' it gets liked 5 or 6 times but when it's an Honest good one, we get none. Strange that PS. We had plenty of chicken, also lamb shank and pork ribs.
