Celebrating another family birthday and my son was keen to have one of The Botanists hanging kebabs. He'd had a disappointing hanging kebab in the branch in Cheltenham but Marlow has a good reputation for its local restaurants. True enough, this branch delivered much better results. Shared two starters between three and it was perfect. Had the small sausages with mustard and the Rosemary bread with goats cheese and honey. This proved an absolutely delicious and satisfying starter - with the crusty bread being the unexpected star of the combo. We all chose the hanging kebabs; belly pork was a favourite. I tried the prawns with a pad thai made from spiralled vegetables. You pour the sauce into a small reservoir at the top of the kebab and it runs down over the kebab onto the vegetables below. This meant I could reduce the amount of chilli in the dish - most chilli dishes are just too hot for me. Loved the drinks menu, including the herby Botanist cocktail. It also makes a great change to have a wide range of truly delicious non-alcoholic cocktails. Enjoyed a bottle of prosecco to celebrate too. Had a great meal but should perhaps advise diners that there is a generous service charge added to the bill and this is added before offers/discounts are applied. Like many other restaurants, substitutions are likely to result in a surcharge on the bill. Hi EcoFriendly2013,I am delighted that you had such a positive experience at The Botanist Marlow whilst celebrating a special occasion! The whole team will be happy to learn that you found our Pork Belly hanging kebab to be the favourite and that you loved the selection of botanical cocktails, including the mocktails that we have to offer. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, next time you plan on visiting please don't hesitate to let me know, as I would be more than happy to make your reservation. Best WishesDarren Heath General Manager

Located in the historic town of Marlow on the River Thames and surrounded by beautiful countryside, The Chequers is a stunning pub, designed to make you feel welcome from the moment you step through the door.
This lovely restaurant in the middle of Marlow High Street has a great atmosphere and offers good food at reasonable prices. We came here for Sunday lunch with our youngest daughter and her fiancee and immediately felt comfortable. The restaurant was busy and lively but not to the extent that it became claustrophobic. The food was really good (while not outstanding) and the service, although stretched at times, was always courteous and efficient. Particular mention must be made of the skin-on fries I had with my burger which were some of the best I have come across in a while. In short, we had a most enjoyable Sunday lunch here and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.Hi Peter,We are very pleased with your delightful comments and rating, we always try our best to satisfy every guest.I will make sure the team read your review.hope to see you very soon Best regards Dominique & The Chequers Team

The Dog and Badger has recently undertaken a refurbishment and has been restored to retain its charm and a new Oak framed space has been added to house the main bar and the new state-of-the art open kitchen with its wood-fired oven and charcoal grill. The
We have supported this establishment through all of its recent iterations - even had Xmas dinner there for the last two years - and have always been at least satisfied and oftimes more. This was our first visit in its current guise - initial impressions were positive (both ambiance and staff) although we were surprised at the prices of the a-la-carte menu. The D&B has tried before to match Marlow £ for £ and failed.Regardless, the 'specials' board seemed reasonable, from which I chose the 'steak burger' and chips. The chips were delicious but the rest was almost inedible. The burger was tough and, frankly, looked and tasted like a thick version of the cheapest supermarket product. However the worst surprise was the grit that accompanied the salad garnish - it was like chewing on fine sand.OK - we've all forgotten to wash the lettuce, however I did perhaps expect to receive more than 'we've never had any complaints before' from the young waitress and no more than a begrudging apology when I cornered the chef...the disadvantage of an open kitchenThe manager did appear once we had paid having 'heard something' and accepted my complaint and asked if 'there was anything he could do?' Too little too late.

Baroosh bar & kitchen is about you. We have five beautiful venues that are located in prime, high street locations in affluent towns and cities around the Home Counties. We focus on fresh food, wine, craft beers and classic cocktails from around the world
Six of us enjoyed some well-prepared and nicely presented dishes at this busy, slightly quirky venue. The young crew worked their socks off to deliver the goodies. Having to order at the bar was a slight drawback but did not detract much from our enjoyment. Hi pspurgeoncbe,We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to Baroosh. Our team indeed does work their socks off to deliver the best service possible! We hope to see you here again! All the best,Josh Bates

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Marlow High Street lies Claytonâs Marlow, an independent bar and kitchen with a passion for food, cocktails and music.Created with the vision of being a destination venue where you can eat, drink and party in styl
Decided to give Claytons a try for early evening drinks and possibly some dinner too. Most people were sat outside as it was the hottest day of the year, so far!Service was good and ordered a cocktail, a rum old fashioned to get things started. Fabulous drink, strong but refreshing. Ordered the beef burger with cheese. Food was served promptly after ordering and good presentation. The burger was well cooked and very tasty, chips although generous were just okay.Hi Neil,Thanks for the review and really glad you enjoyed the old fashioned and burger. Our chips are usually excellent so I will feedback that back to our chef and hopefully we can show you next time you visit.

CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO A FIRE From the banks of the Thames take the short trip up the winding hill to Bovingdon Green and the warm, wooden heart of award-winning The Royal Oak. Oak by name and oaken by nature - but not hard or austere: not a bit of it. B
Very disappointing- been going to the Royal Oak for decades and regrettably our recent visits show a distinct downturn in service and food quality. This evening service was painfully slow and the waitress displayed a âcouldnât care lessâ attitude. Either she had no training or no âpersonâ skills. It is rare that I do not leave a tip - but no tip here.Food ok, but poorly presented and way too many fries. Some items clearly reheated.I think Iâll find somewhere else for my Sunday evenings!

Went for an evening meal - we were aiming for traditional but this was just a bit too dated. 'sweet trolley', very very lengthy menu with nothing outstanding on it.We also booked for 8pm weeks ago, on booking I got pushed back to 8.15 but when we arrived we got placed in the 'waiting area' and didn't actually get seated until 9pm ... there was another group in the same situation but for 3 of us I thought this was a bad etiquette and they are over-booking and waiting for the first sitting to finish without telling them the table is booked. Also by buying drinks in between we felt it did not 'enhance' our meal experience but rather took slightly away.

On 3 occasions we tried to get in to the coach and found staff very pushy to get us to leave. First time they said no where to sit.( Lots of space to stand) Second time told us to go to another one of their pubs. And third time yes come in and would have to wait at least 90 minutes. We first arrived there at 18:15 and tried at third attempt 20:25. Very poor attitude from staff. We will never go back again. As lots of other pubs and restaurants with more to offer. Tom Kerridge very very poor

We had a great value Travelzoo voucher for 2 courses and a glass of fizz. The setting is idyllic, the young staff are lovely and very efficient and the food is fabulous. As we walked in I saw the Thai menu and assumed it was only available on certain nights, so was very pleased to be given this menu as well as the standard one as it was included in the deal. The curry was very pleasingly hot (maybe too much for some people but perfect for me!). A great place, and I hope to return.
