Maybe the oldest pub in Whitchurch, dating back to circa 1650 being a coaching inn in those days . We have a lovely front courtyard with cover , and a large beer garden to the rear of the pub . We serve food 7 days a week,Monday and Tuesday (lunch only) 1
I met up with some friends at the White Bear before going to a restaurant in town. The bar is warm and cosy, with comfortable seating. The welcome was friendly, service was very good and the drinks are competitively priced!

This was our first experience at the Cock O Barton and will definitely not be the last. We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch, and were astonished at the generosity of the free childrenâs meal. The portion sizes were perfect and the Sunday dinner especially was so so tasty. We canât wait to come along again and try your evening menu. It is so difficult for us with a 1 year old to go to any restaurant or pub and feel welcomed and comfortable, without feeling we are being watched judged or criticised. The atmosphere here was such a breath of fresh air that we felt like we were at home. Every member of staff went above and beyond and seemed genuinely happy to accommodate us with having a baby. They were all amazing at their job so attentive and bubbly, which both me and my partner being managers in retail find a rarity. Lastly we would like to say that the Manager - Louis is such a kind person who really related to ourselves and just couldnât have done enough for us. He was so personable and friendly, he even remember our little boys name and said bye to him on the way out. We will always state good service when it is given but this really was the best service we have both come across for a long time! Well done to Cock O Barton. Many Thanks Ayesha, Mike and Bodhi

Fabulous place to eat in Whitchurch, with delicious food and a welcoming friendly atmosphere. Lovely country pub, great selection of food and drink, which caters for dietary needs, with an outstanding comprehensive menu. The staff were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Can't wait to revisit.

We called in here this Sunday lunchtime, we hadn't made a booking, it was very much spur of the moment but we were so glad we did call in.The service was spot on, we were shown to our table and immediately we were asked if we would like drinks and we were given a menu. We both had Sunday lunch, my husband had chefs choice which was pork and I had roast beef. Both were absolutely delicious. We couldn't manage a dessert but there will be a next time.

We called quite by chance, after getting lost, while trying to get to Malpas. We had a truly excellent Sunday llunch. Fresh veg, cooked to perfection. We thought we might have a good meal, but that is an understatement. We didnât expect the quality of food for the price. We were welcomed as if we were long lost friends. The pub is set just over the Welsh boarder, and was first mentioned as an inn, in 1813. We will definitely call again.

Excellent Pub/Restaurant. We ate here twice whilst on a narrow boat holiday on the nearby canal. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food choices were plentiful. The food was well presented, well cooked, ample portion size and delicious. Highly recommended for canal users and passing visitors alike.

Just Visited the Bull for the first time for a family meal. It was opening night under new management and they did a great job. Lamb Shanks to die for, and a great Gin selection. Keep up the good work.

The Wheatsheaf Inn is a traditional country pub with a huge offering - we have real ale, real cider and homemade food. The full menu includes dishes for meat eaters, coeliac diets, vegetarians and vegans. The pub is situated in attractive gardens and we h
We visited yesterday and had a delicious Sunday lunch. The staff couldnât have been more helpful; providing ramps, holding doors open, and generally being delightful . Food was plentiful and delicious, The decor was clean and tastefully done, and with what will be, come spring, a lovely garden . Highly recommended I'd go again tomorrow.

My wife, myself and our dog recently visited the Cholmondeley Arms. Unsure if they allowed dogs in we were immediately put at rest and told dogs were welcome. We were absolutely amazed at the quality & welcome of the place & staff, it was so different. Very quirky, but absolute quality. I have never seen such a well stocked bar. The menu was equally different & quirky, so many unusual and local meals, good selection of cask ales available. My nearest place to heaven. My wife ordered the homemade steak & kidney pie ( and what a pie it was, massive & stuffed full of the best steak & kidney with marvellous gravy). I had waghu beef burger with cheese, bacon, tomato & spices sauce. This was my first try at waghu beef, very nice it was too. This place is certainly in my top 10 of food pubs ever. We will definitely be back & more than once. Highly recommended.

Tend to agree with other reviews on here in general. We visit this area quite a bit and have given up on our usual pub/restaurant and needed somewhere new. Stumbled on this place. We were shown a warm welcome by the staff and given a choice to sit where we wanted (as long as not reserved). As soon as we sat down we were presented with menus and a drinks order taken.Food options were good from smaller lunch items to full meals etc. It is not cheap for a pub. However, when the food came (in good time), the portions were large and the food quality was excellent. Beer very good.Dog friendly which is a bonus for us.Yes, it is a bit tired when you enter, but you know something, itâs friendly, homely and very relaxed. Iâll take that over smart, modern with poor service and overpriced any day (take note our previous pub/restaurant not too far down the road).I think we might have found our new watering hole when we are out this way.Thank you for your review and we look forward to keeping the high standards weâve set ourselves.
