Wow !! Proper home cooked pub food. My wife and I popped in for lunch. I had a favourite, ham egg and chips. BEST I HAVE HAD FOR A WHILE !! Proper ham, amazing chips and 2 eggs. My wife had liver and bacon which was very tasty. I also had crumble and icecream for pudding. All up with a pint of Guiness and couple of soft drinks for under 35 quid !!! We WILL be back.

We had a lovely meal here last Sunday. Service was good and so were our meals , I had seafood platter which was delicious ...just a couple of niggles ..I was served 2 slices of white bread which really didnât compliment the platter, I asked the waitress if there was any whole meal bread and she said that there wasnât but offered half a baguette which was acceptable, also I would have expected to be provided with either a finger bowl or wipes but had to use a serviette as I didnât want to bother the waitress again having just asked or a bowl for prawn shells etc . A shame these few things prevented a 5 star rating.

A warm welcome awaits you at this Grade II listed country pub. Famed for its real ale and twice winner of CAMRA's National Pub of the Year. Walkers, ramblers and cyclists welcome as are children and dogs. During the Winter we have an open fire in which to
On the strength of good Trip Advisor reports, rang the pub to book dinner. Lady answered, said they don't generally do food, only on special 'food evenings'. Things have apparently changed!.Dear Beema525. Sorry to receive your 1 star review of us. Just to clarify, we have never provided evening meals except for our monthly special themed food evenings or private party bookings. We do however have an extensive lunchtime menu available every day. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding? However, we are very flexible so if you would like to call me directly Iâm sure Iâll be able to accommodate you. Many thanks, Phil (Landlord).

New Pavilion is now under new management offering you breakfast, lunch , dinner and delicious Sunday roast.
The only diners On a Tuesday lunch. Clean but lacking in atmosphere! Menu at lunchtime at first glance looked quite ordinary, so we went for the specials, slow roasted belly pork ,mash and broccoli . Amazing! Best mash for years, BPork perfect. Red snapper with a leak resotto Was a great dish. Best resotto ever. Clearly a very skilled chef. We will be back for Sunday lunch very shortly!!

Went to this pub which was owned by the husband and wife from whom we rented our holiday cottage in Heybridge Basin. We were not disappointed. Lovely welcome and great home made pub food. Good choice of blackboard specials. We chose the chicken and mushroom pie and pork fillet dishes which were both delicious. If you want good honest food at a reasonable price in a lovely village pub then this is perfect.

The best pub venue in Maldon, set on the Blackwater river.Thames barges aline the quayside. Large patio area, with seating for over 100 people. Over looked by Maldon St Marys Church. A wonderful setting on the quay, a fantastic old working dock fo yestery
Ordered food which come quickly, crispy chicken wings were fresh and hot but lacked any seasoning so were very bland. Also the winglets hadnât been removed which I would consider lazy preparation. The portion was large though, about 10 wings in all. Other starters were equally large. Mains arrived. Steak and ale pie - a bit dry and again lacked seasoning, gravy tasted like it was made from granules and was rather watery. Lamb koftes were similar would of benefitted from a sauce and a side that wasnât plain white rice. Similar comments made by others apart from battered fish which was well cooked. Also unable to run a tab at the bar which is slightly annoying, not sure if you can in restaurant but would be good to set up a tab facility by either holding your card or taking an imprint of it.

We can't wait to welcome you to The Swan Hotel, Bar & Grill and show you the newly refurbished bar, restaurant, function room, meeting room and bedrooms. Our complete overhaul of this beautiful 15th century building has created somewhere stunning, stylish
We were warmly greeted and taken to our table. Our drinks were served whilst we selected our food from a very good menu selection, especially as it was lunchtime. Both meals were beautifully presented and my husbands gammon steak was more than generous in size, whilst my chacatorie board of mixed meats, olives, blue cheese etc plus lovely warm crusty bread was a real pleaser ! The waitress was lovely. We were unable to order a dessert as we were full. It was our first visit but we will definately return there.

We are a family & dog friendly pub located on the Blackwater estuary where you can enjoy a pint on the seawall as well as dine in our eating areas, inside or out. We serve fresh homecooked food and seafood all day, all year round. We often have music and
Decided to visit Heybridge as had heard a lot about the area. Unfortunately on the day we went it was just too hot to be out and walking anywhere very far - it was great to find a nice shaded outside space at The Jolly Sailor where we could enjoy a drink and bite to eat. As the driver I was particularity pleased to find that they served Adnams Ghost Ship Low Alcohol beer, rather than the tasteless and over priced alternatives most places seem to have! The food was lovely and great value for money. The number of customers showed how popular the place is!The pub is located in a great area for long walks (weather permitting), is peaceful and not badly priced. Worth a visit.Thank you for taking the time to review the Jolly Sailor

Gray & Sons - Queen Victoria. Victorian pub dating back to the mid 1800's. Home of cask Ales complimented by traditional home cooked foods, Licencee James and Partner Paul look forward to welcoming you.
Spur of the moment decision to go out for lunch and we werenât disappointed. Great food, efficient and attentive service, couldnât fault anything. We were able to take our dog into the public bar and she was given a bowl of water and a doggie treat, brilliant!Would definitely recommend.Dear GillyB23,Thank you for your review and five bubbles, so glad your party and doggie were made to feel welcome, we love our four legged friends as much as we do our two legged friends!Looking forward to your next visit.Kindest regardsJames

This was our first visit and it was really good. Motherâs Day meant we had to wait a little while for our table but it was worth it. Roasts were enormous with veg served separately and the Beef Bourguinon was fabulous so tender and tasty. I felt really full, but managed to squeeze in a baguette bread pudding with cranberries and creamy custard, also the apple pie looked really good again with creamy custard. The young man who looked after us couldnât do enough for us and altogether it was a great experience. As I said first visit but not the last.Hello Mo H! Thank you for finding time to write this review. Motherâs Day was extremely busy for us and we tried our best to make our customers happy. We are glad you would like to visit our restaurant again and we are looking forward to cooking for you!
