We stopped in O Connors pub for food on the Sunday of the October bank holiday. I should have listened to the alarm bells that rang when we were asked to order the food at the bar and pay for it immediately, We ordered the Atlantic salmon and a fish and chips. We sat down and within minutes the plates arrived obviously not freshly cooked. The fish was heavily battered and very overcooked and the salmon was also over cooked. We finished and left immediately but within an hour my wife who had eaten the salmon became very ill. She vomited several times on the way home and we even had to stop in another village to use the toilet.I contacted the pub and spoke to a guy called Patrick who assured me that all was OK and that the reason we received the plates so quickly was because the fish was cooked in batches of ten to save time. He told me he would check with the kitchen and ring me the following day a call I never received.Basically a lovely day in Clare ended in my wife being very sick because we trusted a pub that claims to have great food.Steer well clear of the food in this establishment. Thanks for the concern Patrick.Hi BOK1964, Thank you for your visit and your feedback. Firstly, we take all of our reviews seriously, as you may see, as they provide us with invalueable information to help us maintain our high standard. Due to large volumes of customers, ordering and paying at the bar has been our policy for the past 30 years. Our customers, in general, have no issue with this policy. We are lucky to serve so many people from home and abroad in O'Connors. We have our busy periods and Bank Holidays are certainly one of them. We have discussed your review with our management. We are sorry to hear that your wife was unwell on your trip. However, unfortunately, we have found some discrepancies between what you have written in this review, what you told us on the phone and our version of events. We are disappointed that you did not bring any issue with your food to the attention of our staff during your meal, whether in relation to the speed at which you received it or the quality of the food. We have no issue with replacing any customers meal if it does not meet our usual high standard or if it is not to their satisfaction. As it is not possible for us to address any issues with food when we are not made aware of them during the visit. On your phonecall the evening following your visit, you stated that your wife was sick. You requested a voucher to the value of â¬100 and you stated if you did not receive this by Wednesday, you would write a negative review about our business and one of our managers on Tripadvisor. We do not appreciate or entertain such requests. We truly value reviews and customer feedback following a visit with us. However, we will not allow Tripadvisor reviews to be used as a means to threathen us, our staff or our business. Briefly, to address some discrepancies in your review. We pride ourselves in serving traditional fresh Irish food, in particular seafood, which we do not cook in batch. There appears to be some misunderstanding regarding this. Also, we did speak with you subsequently on the phone in relation to your complaint. Finally, we are disappointed that you did not get to experience our usual excellent food and drink. Yet, as mentioned, we do not entertain any threats or requests for vouchers in circumstances such as this, in particular when any issue wasn't raised during the customer's visit. Regards, Deirdre

We stopped then to lahinch and it was very busy place to eat. So we went to a few places and they were full of people so much so we nearly gave up until we walked up to the atlantic and shamrock hotel and met a well dressed man who was holding a cup of water with lemon in it. I asked him where can we eat so he brought us into the shamrock hotel and told us there were two areas that were empty. We were so delighted so we sat down and ordered our meals and it was tasty by all round. The children had half roast of the day beef with veg and chicken nuggets and chips, fish and chips and the adults had chicken sandwich special with cappuccino and I had veg soup and you get huge 2 slices of tasty brown bread with butter and we shared a jug of water for the meal. Very quick in serving and there is colouring for the children well its in the menu so you have to have a search for it but they do supply crayons so dont be shy in asking.

Rooms were perfect size, clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had dinner at the bar, and it was the best fish & chips I had for my whole visit to Ireland. Not the standard beer batter, this had more substance and was delicious. Breakfast was also good. Great that it had it's own parking lot as well. If staying in Lahinch, I would highly recommend the Atlantic Hotel!

A couple went to dinner on Saturday around 6.30pm. Luckily a table for 2 was available but we saw larger parties waiting inside the door. Service was swift & efficient. Staff overall appeared school age bit were well trained. We asked to sit outside but no food served outside.... disappointing given the superb weather. Menu was limited but affordable. Food was good but not wow. One had burger & chips.... yummy, one had fish and chips which was enjoyable. The batter was not greasy & the fish appeared fresh. Overall a good feed in nice surroundings. They would make a killing if they could offer al fresco

I tried the original Irish Coffee and a slice of apple pie. I do believe I dranked more whiskey than coffee. Lol But it was a cold day so it was perfect. The place is super busy and you have to order and pay at the bar and then tell the bartender your table number and someone will bring you your order. I thought it was a bit hectic, but it worked.

We both ordered Irish stew the quality which will always reflect the beef used. On this occasion it was a little tough and chewy. The waitress was cheerful and the servings were generous. The atmosphere was compromised by the loud radio station playing in the background.

Had Salmon and it was so fresh and beautifully cooked. Not a big place but nice atmosphere. It was busy the night we went but all added to the feel of the place. Not too expensive and great quality of service.

Ordered the special of fresh crab claws with salad & fries. Crab claws were served in a sauce not specified & were not very fresh or juicy. Sauce was warm & my salad was placed in the centre of the plate so it was nicely wilted!! & surrounded by warm sauce. Expensive for what I got. Nice bar for a deink
