Years since I'd been here. Hardly changed a bit. If you want a classic English country pub, this is for you! Traditional decor including brasses etc.Greeted by Chef on arrival for lunch. Food was excellent, staff friendly. Including the pub dog!Very good portions, hot and fresh. Eat inside (four areas) or outside (some great views)A little overpriced but worth it.

Goddards Green, in the heart of West Sussex, just off the A23 (Hickstead) close to Hurstpierpoint and Burgess Hill, boasts the Sportsman public house, home of great cuisine and Casque Mark Ales. Formerly, two pubs, the Magpie and the Sportsman, the buildi
Enjoyed my vegan choices very much. Excellent presentation and pleasant service. Comfortable modern surroundings and plenty of parking. Need to return in the daytime for another visit. Can heartily recommend the vegan burger though the remainder of the menu looked good too. Alan, Thank you for your recent reviewVery glad to read that you enjoyed your meal with us & that the vegan burger seemed to be a hit.We have a few options for vegan preferences on the menu with many more than can be adapted to suit too - if requested. We will soon be drafting our festive & seasonal winter menus too, so more dishes to sample in the next few weeks once we have everything finalised.Another reason for a lunchtime visit soon then perhaps !?

We had a meal at The Plough whilst staying in Pyecombe, walking the South Downs Way. Itâs more like a restaurant with drinking area rather than a pub. Having said that the service was very friendly and good. The food was good too with generous portions. My husbands steak was tender and well cooked. Good place for an evening meal.

This was the second time myself and my wife have come here, and on neither occasion has it disappointed. In fact the quality of the food exceeded expectations. We shared the lamb shoulder starter, which was beautifully cooked. I then had the special burger, whilst my wife had the Hake, which had be recommended to her by our waitress. Both of these dishes were amazing. My wife and I sat outside in the sun and were served by two wonderful waitresses, Michaela and Kitty, who couldnât be more helpful. We canât wait to return!!

The inglenook Long bar and sofa areas make this area a cosy and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a chat with friends any night of the week. It is a great place to pop in for a drink with a huge variety of wines, beers and spirits. For summer days and encl
Brilliant Sunday roast,we arrived last minute so the table we received was not the best but we were just glad we got in.The roast was better then expected no wonder there were no tables left, but will book next time. All in all a lovely place but what did it for us also was the lady who served us,I think her name said Lucy H she was so helpful and I felt very honest. We were both very pleased with her service and humor, will definitely go back again in the future.Thank you for your review. We are extremely well known in the area for our Sunday roasts and I'm glad to hear that we lived up to our reputation. I shall pass your kind words onto Lucy and the rest of the staff. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Many Thanks Oak Barn Management

On the main road through the cute village of Hurstpierpoint this newly renovated pub and B&B has 4 lovely rooms. The new owners Tim and Lainey are both absolutely delightful and have put a lot of effort and thought into the renovation. Small things like a nespresso machine, a jar of cookies in the room, usb charging points in the plug socket and thick, soft towels and bath mats really make all the difference. The bed was comfortable and despite a small window it was lovely and bright. There are plenty of plug points and the WiFi is good. The room was spotlessly clean. If I wanted to complain about anything - I donât think I could. Jack who was in the bar when I arrived gave me a warm welcome with âhi you must be Janetâ as I walked through the door. Hey gave me fresh milk and took my case to my room. The rooms have continental breakfast included which is served in the restaurant. I didnât eat in the restaurant in the evening but my friend - who I was visiting told me it is good. I would definitely stay here again.

We came with four friends to celebrate a special birthday. They had booked a table which would be essential as the place was packed. There is plenty of parking. We had a wonderful evening. The food drinks and service were excellent. The menu is quite large and we would recommend looking on line if possible to get an idea of what you want to eat. The portions are large. Everything was hot and there were plenty of lovely vegetables. Thank you for a memorable evening.

17th Century old coaching inn situated in the centre of this thriving downland village. A real hub of the local community but also attracting people from most surrounding areas along with visitors to this area. A pub with several bars and function room pl
The beer is kept well, it's Harvey's from Lewis, so it's not only good it's quite local. On the day I was there there was a full lunch menu, but a restricted menu for evening meals, basically pizza and burgers. There is a friendly atmosphere. Many of the locals bring dogs so it can smell a bit. A good village pub.

We visited for my sons birthday. Quite busy for a Tuesday night but the service was excellent. Food was very good particularly the pork belly. Will definitely be returning and have no hesitation in recommending for a great evening. Thank you.
