Catching up on our round of local Pubs and the Rising Sun was a much anticipated treat for us. The Bar welcome as always friendly although only one Bitter (Unusual as the Landlady is quite keen on different Bitters) but very nice anyway. Largish group and on ordering food were advised the Pie topping will be 20 minutes as had run out and making them fresh. Most other meals OK. We had some starters such as Crab Cake and salad Sweet Chile Sauce which was Ok my Pall thought it Bland Others had Cheese and various all good. Mains - I went for Chicken Stir Fry with Noodles etc very nice. Our Sandwich & Chips man wanted Sausage Sandwich with Caremalised Onion but got raw onion slices instead. Badly prented no salad leaves etc as would be normal. The Pie meals arrived with new topping but rather dried up meet. The mash pottatoe was as one chap put it, as what he used to hang wall papper. I feel the chef had tried a Pommes Parisiene or something but over done the creamy whipping bit. There was a faint flavour of spud. Somewhat dissapointing. As a result one chap was still hungry for a Eton Mess Pud. Which was. Just foam with no flavour of rasberry or anything else in it no fruit at all. I fear it went back and the group wont be. Very sorry folks but the cook needs educating. Staff great. Nice Pub and good parking. Etc.

The Ship is a pub with a wonderful sea view. We provide a selection of home cooked, seasonal meals, an array of beverages to suit all. The Ship's new landlords, are very proud to invite and welcome you to their pub, steeped in history and offering an unin
We booked for lunch today with family who were visiting so there were 6 of us.Sadly this visit was not the positive experience weâve always had there.Iâm a vegetarian and there was only one main meal choice which was something I canât eat. There was one vegetarian sandwich but I wanted a main meal like the rest of the party and so that was disappointing.I ended up having loaded chips which said it was a nacho option with salsa and onions and unfortunately it was only a small portion of chips with a bit of cheese and salsa and no onions. Loaded chips sounded exciting and could have had sour cream or something as a nacho option so it was a bit disappointing. The dessert menu had one item not available and then we had to change our choice as there were only 2 of another choice available. One of the desserts was supposed to have shortbread available with it but they didnât have any and some were being made but wouldnât be ready until after weâd finished eating. The dessert menu didnât state if they were vegetarian friendly which would have been helpful.Kindly the price of those desserts was taken off our bill which was nice. There was quite a long wait in between courses too. I know they did their best but a few things would really have made it a better experience that are easy to sort out e.gHaving vegetarian choice of at least 2 dinners not just a sandwich option would be really nice as there are a lot of vegetarian people around these days.Vegetarian information on the dessert menu would also be really helpful.Itâs a lovely pub weâve visited often but it was a shame it wasnât what weâd hoped for today and thatâs a shame as we only go out for lunch every few months.Itâs a shame if an experience doesnât make people feel like coming next time and thinking of trying somewhere else. I hope my comments can be seen as constructive criticism as to how to encourage customers to return after having a really positive experience.Thankyou Please can you contact Jamie, the pub Manager to discuss further, please call the pub number 01227 366636

We were recommended this pub/restaurant and we are very pleased we made the trip. Unfortunately it was a very miserable and wet day but the fact that the restaurant area was still packed speaks volumes. The staff were pleasant and the food was very nice and very reasonably priced. We will visit again on a brighter day as it also has a nice outside seating area and is a fantastic location for a dog walk.

We visited this friendly Pub today for lunch with our two children. We got a warm welcome when we arrived from Julie and her lovely team. We ordered drinks and food from the bar,and were impressed with the variety of food on the menu (including vegetarian and vegan). We did not have to wait long at all before our lunch arrived(which is always a bonus with two hungry children!). The food was delicious, freshly prepared and good value for money. I would highly recommend this Pub to anyone wanting a good meal and great service.

We decided to pop into here for lunch on a Sunday - we were quite late at 3pm (!) and I have unusual allergies, but these weren't a problem and the lovely girl on the bar, kindly had a chat with the Chef, who had a chat with me...no fuss at all... I wasn't made to feel like a picky eater - which can happen when you say you have allergies. The Chef kindly made me something that was slightly 'off piste' with regards to what was listed on their menu... Great service, cute restaurant (we sat outside) and lovely staff... good value for your money as well.

I described my first trip to this place for a drink and reported how much I had enjoyed my visit; promising to return for a meal.We did return and had a great experience. The menu was varied and we both found a meal that we wanted to order. The food was lovely we mostly have a starter and main course rather than an afters. The Pinot grigo i ordered was well priced and cold.I cannot recommend this place enough, it is a hidden 'gem' in Herne Bay. Check it out if you are in town and my good review is not the only one.The owner cannot do enough to make you feel welcome and that your business is appreciated. We will return and take guests next time!
