The restaurant staff are committed to providing a quality fo cuisine that exceeds ordinary expectation and they excel at producing great food with a unique twist. We serve great local, seasonal food, organic wines and fabulous real ales in warm and welcom
Third visit to this hotel and poor service every time. Waited at bar for ages and was ignored by the barmaid with long black hair on many occasions. Three strikes and out! Wonât be going back.I'm very sorry to hear that. We were very busy at certain points yesterday as there was an event on in the High Street. We tried to serve everyone as quickly as possible and in turn, if you were missed out, then we apologise, but this was unintentional, as we like to ensure everyone is well looked after.

This was the second time myself and my wife have come here, and on neither occasion has it disappointed. In fact the quality of the food exceeded expectations. We shared the lamb shoulder starter, which was beautifully cooked. I then had the special burger, whilst my wife had the Hake, which had be recommended to her by our waitress. Both of these dishes were amazing. My wife and I sat outside in the sun and were served by two wonderful waitresses, Michaela and Kitty, who couldnât be more helpful. We canât wait to return!!

Located just north of Henfield, this traditional style pub welcomes the whole family (including the dog!) and is a must visit for fans of Pizza! This pub is certainly a must visit if you enjoy pizza. With over 20 different varieties of freshly baked gourme
We used to come here all of the time, but it has really gone down hill, it was my father in laws birthday so he booked it as itâs in the middle of everyone & has a great garden for the kids to run around in. The pub staff seemed understaffed overstressed & rude! We were not made to feel welcome & practically pushed out of the door ten minutes before they closed & told we were lucky to be able to order my daughter an ice cream before we got the bill as the kitchen had already closed. I ordered a chicken burger which turned up as a cheeseburger (but I do not eat beef) they did replace it pretty quickly & apologised by taking the price of the burger off the bill, but within an hour of leaving the pub I was so ill ... I have not been able to leave the bathroom in 12 hours! (This was the only thing Iâd eaten all day)The chicken burger was such not pleasant the first time I saw it, it looked like a cheap frozen breadcrumbed slab from Iceland as was the fish n chips & all of the other items everyone ordered!! The childâs lasagne looked homemade /fresh & looked like the only decent thing weâd ordered. There are so many decent pubs surrounding this one, like the ginger fox & the wheatsheaf who all use fresh local products, it seems a strange thing to do to change everything on the menu here to processed frozen burger van food... ?It might be an idea to reduce the content of the menu, use only fresh produce & concentrate on being a decent pizza pub once again!Although we will not be returning!

Have been to this pub several times since moving to the village in November. Already they remember us and really make an effort (even got asked how our holiday was). Itâs genuinely nice to be remembered and welcomed. The service is brilliant ! The pub is very clean, well looked after and the pies are great. If I was going to give any feedback it would be just the stock of pies and running out. Highly recommended to all...hands down the friendliest pub in Henfield Hi BrightonstuThank you very much for the lovely review! Weâre absolutely delighted that you enjoy the pub, pies and service so much As for running out of the pies - not good I will admit and has been addressed! Thanks again and see you soon :)Steve

Came here after a walk from the South downs. Food was awesome, but beer was uber pricy, go to London if you want a cheaper beer. The average seemed to be around £7.50 a pint. Thought they were joking to start with, but it quickly dawned they weren't. Seemed a bit quite for a Friday night. Maybe if they dropped the prices more locals would go. Just a thought Hi Ross,Thank you for your review. Our beers do vary in price from £4.50 a pint up to around £12 but only in very special circumstances i.e. limited edition and exclusive beers. These higher end products are generally served by the third / half / two-thirds due to the price and/or strength. Our locals do receive 10% discount which we feel takes the edge off!Kind regards,Lauren

Went on chance for a snack lunch. Good car park and free Wi-fi. You find a table, order your food at one bar and then go to another for your drinks giving your table number. You pay when you have finished.Large menu with large range of choices. Pub very busy with mostly older groups. Food took a while but our ploughmanâs and ham sandwich were very good.

Country lane Pub serving Modern European and English cuisine with an Brazilian twist using locally sourced ingredients freshly cooked daily and also some of our own produce from our vegetable patch. Fine selection of local and world lagers, ales, spirits
Friendly, knowledgeable bar staff added to a fantastic lunch with our friends. We all ate the Asian Surf and Turf, which was gorgeous. Four clean plates were testament to the great food. We thoroughly enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere and can not recommend this place highly enough. Thank youThank you for your review and comment. We take pride in using the best local ingredients and suppliers available. We also make our own ginger noodles. We go far a field for the more exotic ingredients like Taj in Brighton and Sous Chef for the Yuzu juice and peel. We love when someone appreciate what we do as we put so much effort and go that extra mile to make sure all that comes here have a good time. We appreciate your custom and looking forward to welcome you back soon.

What a merry dance this pub leads the walker! You find yourself with the invidious choice between roads plagued by traffic, especially commercial vehicles, and footpaths that criss-cross confusingly. If you are coming from London and intend to get to the pub in time for lunch, a peak train is advised in order to catch the hourly 100 bus from outside Burgess Hill station to Hickstead or Sayers Common. Then the walk, which looks little more than two miles on the map, turns out to take considerably longer. This is one of those occasions when you wonder whether Ordnance Survey are playing tricks on you.But it's so worth it, to find a pub interior so unscathed by time. You just have to sit inside--although many people prefer to eat outside--to take in the dark beams and the amazing assortment of old country tools and stuffed animals that adorns the walls and ceiling. I sat beneath the head of a wild boar, very bristly and with fearsome teeth, and irrationally supposed that at any moment it might fall on my head!In the bar the conversation flows. There are many loyal regulars. The landlord was welcoming and happy to set up a tab. The lunch menu is unfortunately rather lacking in choice, and this is not a budget eatery, but the food was scrumptious. I only mark down the food slightly as the dessert was slightly underwhelming.
