Ate here with my family for lunch on a Saturday. The place is a sports bar with giant TVs everywhere and lots of noise (which does not bother us). The waitress was good. Our orders were taken promptly and the food came out pretty quickly. The food is just OK - not bad, but nothing to write home about either. I had the fried shrimp. It was OK. Obviously frozen and not fresh but did not expect much more from a sports bar anyway. My husband loved his prime rib sandwich.I was disturbed by one thing. As we were leaving, mu older cousin fell from the unmarked, large step outside the restaurant. He struck his head on the concrete and was bleeding as well as developing a large hematoma on the side of his forehead. One of the younger cousins ran into the restaurant to get some ice for him but NO ONE from the restaurant staff bothered to come out and check on him. If I were managing a restaurant and a customer fell while on my property, I surely would go out and check on him. Luckily, my cousin was OK; we took him to the local ER and everything checked out fine. But the lack of concern by restaurant staff is very disturbing. It is for this reason that I am giving the service a poor grade. I do not have any desire to return to this establishment.

In town on business, needed a rather quick bite late on a Saturday afternoon. T/A's suggestions weren't working for me. Spotted 'The Porter', and it looked inviting. Garret, the bartender, immediately came to our table with ice-water, and began guiding us through the vast beer selections; providing samples until we found something agreeable.Mrs., ordered one of the burgers. I mentioned that I was interested in the club sandwich, however I felt like having something warm. 'Not a problem'. My sandwich arrived grilled, both cheeses melted perfectly. The atmosphere and the service made this a very pleasant experience. The food really impressed me, all top quality. If this place is #65 in Hattiesburg, they must have the best Cracker Barrel (#29), and Waffelhouse (#40), in the country.

A guy I work with and myself stopped in here for lunch. He got a salad which he said was awesome (it looked good, and was huge). I got a burger and chips, which was very good. They don't have any fryers so you won't get French fries or most 'normal' bar food. The bartenders told us they have a lot of vegetarian options for people (it seems like they said vegan as well, but I'm not 100% sure) to bring in people. The bartenders were awesome refilling soft drinks and the overall service was great. They were fun to talk with and gave us advice on what to see. I would definitely go back!

This is a friendly, funky, colorful mainly burger joint with great service. The variety of burgers and dogs that are offered is good or you can always make your own. The wait staff and management are friendly and helpful and every item gets cooked to order. Good family atmosphere

We saw some pictures online and the food was what we wanted that day. I got a chicken breast covered with peppers, onions, cheese, etc. which looked good in the pictures. It was ok but not delicious as it should have been. Underseasoned would describe it. We got a salad and it was like eating spiders. It was that lettuce with all the spiky edges on it. Mostly lettuce and two cherry tomatoes a bit of bacon and croutons. Croutons were good. My husband got hamburger steak which was dry as a bone. He asked for some gravy which was brought in a few minutes. It was so horrible I dont even know how to describe it. Not just from a can or package which it obviously was, but it had some kind of undertaste to it..almost like a chemical. I could have gone back there and made some delicious gravy from a roux so surely a chef could have done the same. We both got green beans which were dry and chewy. I had broccoli which was pretty good. The salad dressings were good. Portions were good but the food was mediocre at best. If we had gotten hamburgers or fried food I'm sure it would have been better. I was pretty disappointed. It was nice in there and our server was excellent but I wont go back.

After a 7+ hour drive to town for a funeral, we wanted to try something different. Glad we did. It was cool enough to sit on the patio which appears to be the main dinning area. Well planned and well built patio. Nice New Orleans feel. HugeFans and nice evening lighting. WeHit happy hour. Drinks are doubles. We spilt a dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our transition from the long drive. Great friendly server.

We love the huge selection of great beers they always have on tap. The food is great for sitting outside in the front porch or under the trees out back. We usually get some of the speciality hamburgers with everyone getting something different. We all left full and enjoyed the easy breezy outside dining.

The portions were a smidge inconsistent, the Caesar salad was HUGE, meanwhile my husbandâs fish and veggies were so small, that he had to order a second entree... all that said - we fed a family of 4, with three adult entrees, 2 glasses of wine and a kids dessert for less than we would have eaten at Chiliâs. It was great food - the burger buns were delicious. Yum!

Though a bit out on the edge of town, Half Shell is still very easily located, on one of Hattiesburg's busiest streets. It is an upscale, southern seafood type restaurant and bar, serving oysters and po-boys, along with steaks and cocktails, and wonderful salads. Open until 10 p.m. each night. They have great coffee, deserts, with outside dining, and wheelchair accessible. Great for adults and kids, locals, travelers, or tourist. Great place to dine!

We always stop here when travel this way and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious, portions are large, service is great, and prices are not cheap but reasonable for the value received. We started with fried crab claws which were plump and delicious. Todayâs special was grilled mahi mahi for me and a cheeseburger for the wife. I love their salads and the mahi was perfectly cooked. The cheese burger was accompanied by grilled onions and fried onions on a wonderful homemade bun. We barely had room for the white chocolate bread pudding. But we did and it was delicious. Never had a bad meal here!!
