Forget 'casual dining.' That's an industry term so out of touch with how consumers eat and drink today. For premium quality and style; fare that's at times familiar and other times adventurous and a laid-back modern setting, Houlihan's is a true original.
Met a friend for lunch at the Schererville location. My friend highly recommended the fish tacos so we both ordered the lunch special with soup. Her 3year old grandson ordered the kids cheese pizza. Our lunch was tasty. But, after returning home at the end of the day, I was not feeling the best. I awoke at 4:30am feeling sick. By 6:00am into full blown vomiting and diarrhea. Contacted my friend to see how she was feeling...very similar issues. We have food poisoning! I called the restaurant at 11:00am and spoke to the manager, Jenny. She took some information about our order and where we were seated and the time we dined with them. Was told I would hear back from her after she located the receipt. I have waited all afternoon with no call-back. If you value your health, continue your search for a better restaurant with a more responsive staff! I will never return!

Finding a family-owned, fine dining place in the area, that's open on Sunday, is tough. We wound up at Town Club by default. Town Club has been around forever, so they must be doing something right. Our visit today offered no indication what that something could possibly be. One can get past an old restaurant which has never been renovated. Even high prices can be acceptable with excellent food and service. Paying $90 for three basic meals, nothing fancy, no alchohol, and getting terrible food and service, and being subjected to eating it in a stuffy, tiny, echo-chamber with no air movement, is insulting. Seriously, it's been in the 90's and the cheapskates won't run the air? No, it wasn't busy at all.Im not one for giving wait staff low tips over errors in the kitchen, but since our waitress only took our order, and eventually delivered it, and couldnt otherwise be bothered with checking on us, five bucks was probably fair for five minutes work.Ordered a 1lb ribeye, medium. Came far smaller, much of it globs of fat, and well done. No matter, it was flavorless, and I could eat half of it without giving up in disgust. Wife and daughter had salads, one with chicken, one with beef in it. Neither ate half, or desired taking the rest home. We ordered the cheese squares as an appetizer. Four thick slices of cheap orange cheese, breaded, sprinkled with generic parmesian or bread crumbs...hard to tell, and deep fried - for $10. You may have marinara for a buck more. Seriously, everything is extra. Well, they sent the things out with seafood cocktail sauce. No way to get that corrected since the waitress wasn't going to stop and check on us any time soon. Never checked on our meals after delivery either. We didnt finish the cheese stuff either. Yuck. We were allowed one refill of our iced teas - hot. Seriously...hot, from their pitcher, sans ice. No kidding. Had to request ice - twice. First request got us tiny glasses of ice. How anyone can chince on ice is beyond us, but everything was like that. Cheap, cheap, cheap, but expensive as heck. Clearly, nobody cared. They apparently have a local following of retirees who accept this as normal, so the lights stay on I guess. The ownership and staff don't aspire for more, or concern themselves with attracting the next generation of clientele. Sad but true.So that was our Father's Day dinner. Would have been better off with hot dogs on the grill. Advice: When customers arent finishing meals, ask again if it's ok. Oh! Ask after they start the meals first. If it got to the end of the stay before you noticed, it's too late, and few are likely to complain by that point. They just want to cash out and leave. Noone bothered asking us how our meals were. It's as though they already knew the answer.

We came for a cocktail after a recommendation from our hotel. The martini and the mule were excellent. They donât âwater downâ their drinks. They were refreshing on a warm day. The complimentary chips and pickles were quite tasty. We also had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. We asked for a side of horseradish which added âzingâ to the appetizer. Very nice place!

We visited during January and they offered a tribute to Elvis with a burger topped with peanut butter sauce and banana. It was fabulous!! They never fail to disappoint. Their regular menu includes Taipai lettuce wrap with a marinated chicken breast and sweet asian slaw and a turkey burger with toppings like avocado mayo and butter lettuce topped with Chipotle Monterrey cheese. Delicious!! Full bar and a great salad menu too!Thank you for sharing your experience with us and we look forward to your next visit, Cheers!

Fun - Loud atmosphere with good music. Exactly what you would expect for a micro brewery. Excellent selection of their own highly rated beers with plenty of guest beers to try as well. Food is delicious. Also have a carry out section where you can go in and purchase to take home. If you are around Munster and like beer this is not to be missed.

Came here for my work party on a Saturday in January. The room was a nice size and our server was friendly. The food was good, and came out hot. Since I wasn't buying the food, we ate chicken strips, roast beef and potatoes.

I liked this place 2 years ago. Now the menu is drastically shortened. We had a birthday party and were seated among gambling tables and a corner arcade. Unbelievably cramped. Would be a fun place to get snockered and hang out, I suppose. Beers were skimpy and improperly presented. "Long Island Tea" was a tiny drink with ingredients missing. Pizza had a great mix of toppings with generous cheese but the "crust" was just a big wad of mush. Hamburger was impossible to pick up or handle, a bunch of food randomly dumped in a basket. Jumbo order of onion rings was FOUR ONION RINGS. Fancy-sounding tossed salad was really just a bowl of lettuce. Not going back unless forced.

We were staying at the nearby Comfort Inn immediately off I-90 for a less expensive Chicago experience (much cheaper hotel, no parking fee, free breakfast). I searched for local nearby dining opportunities and luckily landed on Byway Brewing Company only one interstate exit away. They had a nice array of beers and the usual options of samples, small and pint-sized pours, which were great, but where they really exceeded our expectations was on the food. Don't let them kid you that the portions are individually sized. Only if you're a construction worker who just came off a 12 hour shift! we saw a party of 3 splitting their noodle bowl along with several sides. My husband and I could have easily split either the delicious house burger with bacon-onion "jam" or his braised garlic short ribs with charred tomatoes and seared onions gyro on a pita. Wow! Definitely several notches above the usual pub grub. We split a cup of sweet potato soup embellished with sesame and paprika oils that began divine then turned truly heavenly when we hit the sour cream lurking in the bottom of the cup. My husband's "gyro" came with french fries with garlic, salt and pepper. I opted for their house chips, which were equally good. After sampling several of their beers both of us chose things we don't normally: I went for a Sunny Vale IPA that worked beautifully with the burger while hubby chose an unusual orange wheat beer. They also had a cherry wheat that was tasty, but a little too sweet for me. Reminded me a bit of the classic German beer cocktail "Berliner Weisse." All in all, an unexpectedly lovely evening. Our server Emily was attentive and as it got busier the staff seemed to look out for each other which I always apppreciate. The decor is typical brewing company industrial and the location, right off the freeway (but facing away from it) isn't redolent with ambiance unless you're into gasoline, but absolutely worth the very easy jog off the interstate to find. They have tables for bigger groups and outdoor seating also.

I was looking for a place that had craft beer that was a brewery so I decided to stop in. There's a small area in the front that's the bar with some tables and in the back is a large room for sitting, games and other entertainment. They do have food and specialize in some Polish dishes but it was late and the kitchen was closed by the time I arrived. They have a decent selection of craft brews on tap, the ones I tried were all very good. I'd recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area and are interested in craft beers. We're glad that you enjoyed the beers that you tried. We do add new ones from time-to-time, so stop back by and try some! Our kitchen closes about an hour before the brewery closes, but we'd love to cook for you sometime! We look forward to seeing you again soon!Cheers!Robyn

Not at all impressed with the atmosphere or food although our server was excellent! Not comfortable communal picnic table seating....loud music that was not appropriate to all listeners...Might I add that I like a variety of music and this selection was odd and not inviting to want to stay and partake in The Brews they are known for. We had a sampler of beers that were ok but not memorable I had wine that I left because it was awful.Had the house burger that was just ok but the house made pickles were very good...Mac and cheese dry and the sauerkraut inedible...I don't think I would ever return here so many other brew rooms to tryout
