A Saturday night out with friends and as we arrived, a fire tender was stationed in the car park with firemen just clearing up inside the pub . There had been a small fire in one section of the bar and a tell-tale smell of smoke hung in the air as we came in. This naturally cast some doubt upon our evening. However we were warmly welcomed by the staff and reassured that all would be well. And so it was, drinks were ordered (a great pint BTW) and we were promptly sat at our reserved table. The menu and specials on offer were varied and comprehensive pub food and our orders were taken smoothly and the meals served promptly. The food was fine and prices reasonable - they even managed to find us a first class glass of brandy to finish off the evening in fine style. The Hunters Inn at Newton Tracey is a little off the beaten track and therefore quite easy to forget about, but to overlook it would be a mistake. Over the years, it has gained a reputation of being a fine hostelry and it's one that will certainly once again feature on our regular visit list.

Found this place on Trip Advisor and loved it. Beautiful setting and presented to a very high standard inside and out.Staff were lovely, great choice of food, good value and well kept beers. We all enjoyed our meals though servings are big so good job we didnât go for starters, only one of us could fit in pudding and the sorbet was lovely. Will definitely be back when in the area again. And very dog friendly!

While staying in Westward Ho we visited here with friends who live locally and had recommended eating here. The whole experience was wonderful, all of our various meals were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious....my curry was amazing!! We could not resist trying the various desserts and they were as good as I have had anywhere, and the brownie with icecream and clotted cream was awesome!! The lovely friendly owner was so busy throughout the evening but made time to chat to us and made us feel really welcome. Highly recommend this place to anyone

The Coach & Horses Inn at Buckland Brewer in North Devon is set amongst the beautiful Devon countryside, with Exmoor on one side, Dartmoor the other and the lovely sandy beaches of the North Devon coast within a few minutes drive. The ideal location for a
We were looking for a country pub for an evening meal on a rare child-free evening and we're so pleased we found this one! Delicious food, friendly service and a cosy atmosphere. Two meals, two drinks and two puddings for around £44. Would definitely recommend. :)

The Globe Inn - where great food, good ales, local cider and friendly service is our passion. Children, muddy boots, wet dogs and their well behaved owners are always welcome.
My wife and I visited North Devon for the bank holiday weekend and chose to spend all 3 nights here. Jimi and Sam were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble. They recommend things to see and do and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The room was spotless and we loved the decor. The bed was large and very comfortable and the big rainfall shower was superb. Breakfast was made to order by Sam and was stunning. I could tell the food was fresh and locally sourced. My wife is a vegetarian and was delighted with the variety and quality of vegetarian options. We ate dinner here twice and both times we were blown away by the quality of the food, particularly considering how well priced the menu is. We tried the burger, steak, veggie chilli nachos and pulled pork, all of which were excellent quality and well cooked. My wife has family in North Devon who joined us at the Globe for dinner on Sunday and loved it. I think they may become Sunday regulars. The pub itself is what I would call a proper pub. The locals are friendly and up for a chat and Jimi's knowledge of beer is very impressive. They had a range of craft beers so I told him the kind of beer I liked and he recommended a few which all went down well (probably too well). The gin and rum selection was also very enjoyable. My pregnant wife was also impressed with the range of non-alcoholic beers and fizz. The music in this place is a other big positive for me. Jimi and Sam are clearly music lovers and have an awesome selection of vinyl. We enjoyed Bowie, Led Zep, The Hold Steady and Mansun. On our last night we took part in the pub quiz. The atmosphere was buzzing and we enjoyed the banter with the locals. The location was perfect for us too as we were able to get to Exmoor, Bude, Westwood Ho! and Dartmoor over the weekend. It's fair to stay we loved everything about our stay here and will certainly be back when we next visit Devon.

As titled, probably our third or fourth visit, for Sunday lunch at this local pub.Our visit this time was completely out of the blue, having guests for the weekend we then decided to call into the Torrington Arms for a Sunday lunch without pre-booking. Our party of five were greeted warmly by the friendly staff,as usual, managing to sit in the bar area next to the fire, which was nice on a very wet and miserable day.The roast meals were terrific, especially the "roasties", with only praise from our guests, possibly overlarge portions bought to the table by the amiable staff,in uniform, the portions were large, however this problem was solved by the offer of "doggy boxes" after our meal and accepted gratefully, without any embarrassment.Externally the pub is not much to look at but inside a warm and comforting ambience more than made up for that, Will we visit and take guest again... too right ! Value for money rating 100% .Thank you for you kind review, its pleasing to hear you enjoyed your roast. The open fires are definitely very popular too. We hope to see you again very soon

This is a traditional country pub set in the heart of north devon. We serve good quality home cooked meals (all locally sourced were possible). Although we are dog lovers ourselves due to the pub size and its ristraints we do not allow dogs inside. We do
Staying local with family we decided to give this pub a try and we were not disappointed. It doesn't look the best from the outside but go in and give it a try as the staff are very friendly, the service was really good and the food was excellent! Especially the Fish Pie, there was so much fish in the pie, it came with lots of fresh veg and was pipping hot! Equally the Lamb Hot Pot, Liver & Bacon and Hunters Chicken was so good. We all had puddings and they were great too! Would recommend.

We are a small family run business in the centre of Great Torrington. We serve a large variety of foods all year round to all kinds of people. Dog friendly and family friendly.
We arrived in Torrington and didn't fancy cooking. We got a taxi into Torrington and was recommended the Black Horse pub. Staff were really friendly and welcoming, the children were no trouble and were given pictures to colour in. Nothing was too much trouble. We did actually go back and had dinner a few nights later, it was as good as the first time.

Had Sunday lunch at The New Inn and was very impressed with the quality of food, the standard of service and friendly welcome. A very comprehensive menu with some veggie options, we had the roast beef which was delicious. In my view one of the best pubs for Sunday lunch in the district. The pub is welcoming of dogs which is important to us when we eat out.
