So impressed with my first visit to Recess, I wish I hadnât waited so long to try it. PLEASE DONT DELAY JUST TRY IT, you wonât be disappointed. The team were really helpful, friendly & engaging. The food served was SUPERB. Their entire menu was gluten free which is even more Superb!! Presentation, price and serving size all outstanding. The flavours were absolutely amazing. They certainly have great people working the kitchen. Our waitresses made suggestions and their recommendations were spot on. They suggested we do a couple of share plate and 1 or 2 sides and a big plate for our table of 4. First up we had the 3 cheese arancini & buttermilk friend chicken, followed by Grilled broccolini and quinoa salad, braised beef cheek ( omg!) & a side of French fries. We finished (after another suggestion) with a scrumptious banoffee pavlova that was big enough for the four of us to share. All up it was roughly $50 per head for 3 courses plus a couple of rounds of drinks.Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a fabulous review! Took the family here for lunch. High quality food and great beer options. Seriously hot chicken though. Start at the low end. Second hottest chicken was still very spicy.Will return.

We hadn't been for a while as it was closed for renovations. To start with, we had some garlic bread unfortunately "micro waved" though the waitress said it was a commercial one. Fried whiting was overcooked and the salad my wife said was "unremarkable". I had the scotch fillet steak garnished with a green spinach sauteed, garlic butter and mushroom sauce on a bed of mash just medium. Well for $39, it was nearly well done , tasteless, butter was hard and the sauce gluey. Both of us were very disappointed. We were offered a free dessert but on principle said NO.

Had dinner here and was greeted by super friendly staff. The meal was much better than I expected, reasonably priced and the service provided by the staff was second to none. Would absolutely come back here again

Our group of 22 loved our visit to Elephant & Castle Hotel. We had a private room booked for a special event our RAAF Reunion we were looked after by the staff so well. Food was amazing so many choices and it was delivered fast. This place has so much character and the atmosphere here was buzzing and this was a Wednesday night! I loved the history of the building and all the prints have a story. Come here to learn more about the owners and the staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. Just the best place to visit anytime of the day or night.

Potentially good fun but as the evening progresses the music and enthusiastic crowd sing-a-long seems to get louder and louder! If you want an opportunity to chat to anyone in your group, this is not a great place to go as the music (in this very popular place) is relentless...there is no down time and/or break! Most of the patrons seem to be really enjoying this - dancing on the bench seats is popular! Drinks are reasonably priced. Use ear plugs if you are noise sensitive and be prepared for a singing onslaught!

This pub is great anytime! We have adopted it for our family "get togethers" this is our place to enjoy beautiful food and conversation.We had another luncheon yesterday and you could not fault the attention to detail and the wonderful personalities of the staff, they were spot on and looked like they were having a great time also, thank you Caleb and Mary.We have been here many times over many years, it was a place to have a beer and kick back and still is, we recently attended a Teachers College 50 year reunion which was fantastic.if you just want a quiet affordable lunch that suits everyone's budget you can order from their $25 special [this includes a wine or beer] or you can choose from the main menu, it is all beautiful.We live in Ocean Grove and like to support businesses in our area and Geelong so give them a try you will not be disappointed.

Had a lovely relaxing lunch here on the weekend. Great atmosphere, stylish interior, gorgeous views, great customer service and delicious food. We indulged in a number of the share plates, interesting and tasty menu, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Definitely a place to visit again.

Having visited the three Southern Music Cities of the USA I like visiting this small Cajun and Creole Bar for its good selection of southern food whiich I enjoy, excellent beers (especially Blackmans Reginald IPA - see photo), attentive and prompt service and the option of sitting in or outside.I find the background music enjoyable but have yet to enjoy the special atmosphere with a live Blues band. Perhaps on my next visit to Australia?

Family lunch on a Sunday of 14 people. Told there would be table service, but we were left waiting for far too long with menus, without anyone coming to take our order. Difficult getting staffsâ attention. I finally had to get up from my seat and go over to ask a waitress to come over. Menu encourages sharing. The food is tasty, but far too staggered as far as time between when one dish comes and another. Another waitress gave us 5 plates and utensils for a group of 14 on our table, and never came back to supply more. As it was difficult to get any staffâs attention, someone from our table had to get up to ask a waitress for more plates and utensils. Empty plates and glasses which were finished with took far too long to be cleared too. We will not be back.
